(OOC: I'm not doing this through the UN because it would get no where, at least there is a possiblity of getting several nations signing on to the treaty.)

The Deomcratic Socialist Union, in the interest in the protection of all life, which is sacred, would like to create a international treaty banning cowardly weapons of mass destruction(currently, our consititution prevent the ANL from having WMDs). While we do understand nations with WMDs have a tactical and defensive advantage, we believe banning these weapons is the right thing to to do.

The terms of the treaty are simple, all nuclear, biological, chemical or other WMDs will be banned in signitory nations. Also, a portion of the money freed up by not having to take care of WMDs should be put into social welfare related programs, not military boosts.

So who's with me?

Make it easy for me now will you? Heh....


Ill take all WMDs you dont want or need anymore, and Ill donate 5 dollars apiece to the Jimmy Fund. What do you say?

Since Anarresa has no NBC program we see no reason why not to sign this treaty.

Hattia only has stockpiles of nuclear, not biological or chemical weapons. We see a need for them, our constitution prevents any such weapons from being used aggressively (except for our I.G.N.O.R.E missiles). We mainly keep them as a deterrent to much larger nations. (You know who I am talking about) And even if we were invaded, we would use them only as a last resort.

Now let me ask you a question. Say someone luanches nukes at your country and kills all your soldiers and most of your populace. Now if you dont have nukes your screwed or would you rather be able to nuke his ass right back so he cant invade.

Fortinatly, the ANL has a missile defense system in place that will take care of some missles in the event the ANL is attacked. However, granted, the system is not 100% accurate.

The ultimate defense is that the ANL never particpate in wars and we have never gave anybody any reason for attacking the country, with conventional weapons or WMDs.

TO be utterly honest...we never use nukes anyways...we prefer fighting with honor. Nukes are only a last line of defense, where "scorched earth" means exactly that...the target country invading out land will cease to exist, we will fire a few on an invading army and vaporize part of the country,a nd the people will flee to prebuilt underground complexes. I would sign this, because despite my nature, Crownguard is fairly nice and understanding, but it would leave us dangerously weak.

Thank you for your support. Your idea of dismatnlement is great and will be incorporated into the final treaty. That might be more cost effective in the end after all.

Buy an intigrated, multi-tiered anti-missile defence net from a future-tech nation who's player knows what they're talking about, then get a bunch of allies, and you should be fine.

I am glad to see a young nation supporting this treaty. This makes you nation look very good considering that so many new nations are warmongering.

Well, if I didn't have my NAFDA system (about 80-90% accurate I'm afriad) we would be a radioactive crator and no one wants to invade a radioactive crator now would they?

However, with that said, Iuthia can absorb most nuclear attacks and still have well over 90% of our army in tact. Seeing as our nations is very strong and militarily potent we would then move on to annex said nation...

Of course, that would only happen if my allies didn't nuke them into the ground first, unlike many nations, Iuthia's allies are pretty much the same size as me and they don't have any problems with Nuclear Weapons...

So fear not young one, I need not my atom bomb.

Though we dont use nuclear weapons, we do have an arsenal of large area destruction weapons such as Fuel Air Weapons and Heavy Ordinance such as MOABs. Though heavier these are better than nukes because they're clean. You don't need nuclear weapons to blow alot up, theres alot of other stuff out there

Although we don't house any of these weapons , we will abide by this treaty while it suits us.

We will join this treaty. We are new nation and we are completely against WMD's.

That is agood point. We will reconsider our decision.

The Nation of Itakitall signs your treaty in hopes that it will bring back the beauty of tactical combat lost in the creation of the atomic bomb. We do not sign it as a pacifistic nation, but as one that would prefer to use the more elegant art of strategy to destroy an opponent. It is not that we do not want these weapons, we merely feel that they are excessive, and that it is far better to totally dominate and occupy an enemy nation than to wipe it out.

Besides, they are a waste of money. Using it on your own territory is plain stupid, and using it on the enemy means retaliation in kind. So they cannot be used. Get rid of them by all means.

We would be interested in signing this treaty, our new government has recently announce plans for the destruction of our small chemical stockpile (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=122178&highlight=), so we are happy to become signitories.
