New "Super Gunship" developed
a new gunship has been develpoed. Like the iron clads dominated the woodclads 150 years ago this will be teh same thing against fighters. It's a delta wing plane with 8 M-1 engines each which suplly 70,000 ounds of thrust. The 560,000 pounds of thrust move a plane with *gasp* 6 icnhes titanium/aluminum alloy threaded into carbon fiber composites. This ways close to 200,000 pounds. The plane also has 24 modified SM-2 missiles for defense as well as dozens of flare shoots and other counter emasures. The plan'es offensive weapons are 6 modified Placibo weapons designed for air2surface. Each Placibo has a 1500 kilometer range. It's also armed with 16 a2a missile tubes with nearly 60 missiles on board. To finish it off it has 2 torpedo tubes for airborne torpedos This plane has a crew of 21 but can flay. It's toatla weight is close to 800,000 pounds. But it can fly. the top speed is 400 mph.
The cost is 300 million. It can take off. The amazing thing about this plane is that it can withsatnad a missile hit

It's big and slow, a rather easy target for interceptors or SAMs.
From the sound of things, it would take more fuel and money to purchase and maintain this aircraft than the amount needed for one, maybe even two, squadrons of fighters.
Erinin would recommend changing from straight titanium to 6/2 titanium/aluminum alloy threaded into carbon fiber composites.
Much lighter, and far superior an armour to straight titanium.
Only two? I don't expect this thing to be able to get off of the ground. You need to beat Earth's gravity to fly. Just because the thing can move forward, and slowly, I might add, doesn't mean it can fly.

Eh, Lima, a single AA-3 missile from 300km away could kill that, even with its coutnermeasures.
it weighs 800,000 pounds. It is kind of like a destroeyr for the air. All ships are slow and missiles are fast yet we still have ships. the ratio between aircraft:kingfish is about the same as missile:ship

No way I am buying this fat car. ITs to big can't hardly fly and what does itdo? Nothing. Can't even bomb a city properly without being shot down.

Anyway, the AA-3 is the best missiel of all time.
Too small for patriots, uses Laser, Thermal, IR and Radar targetters so it never gets jammed :wink:
I forgot to mention one. For tight emegeencys it has emp's It ahs a protective shield from keeping the pulse from the plane and then wala.

That doesn't matter, because a well trained Howitzer crew could shoot your aircraft down.
Oh, and this thing is probably the most fuel inefficient aircraft ever invented.

Lima, that plane couldn't break 20. Miles an hour. So if you would just fly it over my battleship, the men could hand crack the turrets and blow it out of the sky.

Actually ER warheads are designed for anti-missile as well as anti-troop and anti-armour.
A 1kiloton ER fired at an incoming volley would easily disable the missiles.
However to that same tactical scenario the 155mm howitzer can deliver ER rounds, and as stated above a well trained howitzer crew could and would devastate that ship.
Like any single vessel though, you must examine it from what support it has as well.
A Nimitz with no destroyer escort is a baby among wolves if there are attack subs running a round.
Lima Bean should look in to high consentration particle obstruction. It counters IR/Laser/milliradar/ and optic guidance(RL tech not godmod).
I would also recommend that the majority of the vehicles weapons be OTH capable- forget about using guns, because once you can actually see this thing no matter what counter measures you have, all a guy needs to do is point in the general direction and he will hit it.
This should be a ground support vessel, or naval support vessel- you could call it a High Speed Off the Water the Carrier.
Or you could scrap the design, listen to the suggestions everyone has offered and start over.
