Balalaika declares independance from Galdania!
"The people of Balalaika province, Galdania, have heald an unofficial referrendum. 47% of Balalaikans voted in favour of seceeding from Galdania. We have therefore urged the nation of Galdania to allow us to live in our nation as an independant territory. We have urged ethnic Zefyerens in the semi-autonomous Zefyrz region to rise up against the Galdanian government. If we all unite to break Galdania, we can free ourselves and our brothers on the other side of the Iron Curtain."
-Speech made by new Premier of Balalaika, Tjizir Malalai, to the U.N.
OOOC: Galdania normally has soldiers all over the place, but since most soldiers in Balalaika ARE Balalaikan, they are likely to support independance.
Outside a Galdanian KBBLA Secret Police office in Downtown Niktzilai (Balalaika's capital city), Seperatism supporters joined hands and began singing in the middle of the street, sorrounding the KBBLA officers inside the building. A few police cars were there, but the police, mostly independance supporters, only watched, or sang with the crowd.

The nation of Crownguard is interested to understand where Balalaika falls ont he issues of governance, what type of gvernment they wish to set up, the main aspects of their culture, and other such tidbits. If Balalaika were do so, and if our interests matched, perhaps the nation of Crownguard would send assistance of a military and commercial nature if Galdania should turn...hostile.

"We are not lloking for war. We believe that if we show solidarity in this situation, Galdania will back down and let us be."
OOC: For those who don't know, a balalaika is a traditional Russian string instrument.
---
Balalaika wishes for more democratic freedoms in it's territory, and an end to capital punishment. Balalaikans are a different cultural group than the Slavic Galdanian majority. They have a more Moldovian culture than traditional Russian-style Galdanian customs.

Believe what you wish. We said only if Galdania were to try to quash the seperatist movement through military fiat. If this is so, we are prepared to offer assistance. While we do not believe in much democracy on a grand scale, finding it a bit silly to implement, we dislike the oppressive ideal of state socialism far, far more. Socialism is only tolerable on a small scale as a protective measure, not to "equal" out everyone's wage and standards of working. If Galdania refuses, then we merely wish to make our forces available. We do not advocate war if it can be avoided,
Premier Malalai. However, if you do not wish our assistance should the tanks roll in, please let us know, so we do not fight for a cause that does not wish us.

KBBLA officers took up positions at the windows. They fired their automatic rifles at the 'rioters'. A group of youths fell to the ground in a heap of blood, their knee caps ripped off by the powerful Galdanian bullets.
Soldiers loyal to the Government were ordered to secure military bases, and execute deserters. Bayonets clicked into position on rifles, and machine guns took up positions in windows above the streets.
One of the few Galdanian tanks in Balalaika blasted open an apartement, scattering body parts and debris across the streets below.
Planes flew low over the city, dropping large canisters of pink gas over the city. Galdanian military personelle placed gas masks on their faces, but refused to distribute them to the civilian populace, in case they fell into 'rebel' hands.
OOC: BTW, I am Galdania.
IC: Balalaikan students scrambled behind cars parked along the street. Others picked up peices of debris or road signs and rushed at the KBBLA office.
---
Balalaikans took up whatever arms they could find and poured into the streets, ready to engage the Galdanians. Others, however, maintained 'peace chains' outside Government offices.
Tanks rolled through the streets. One man stood defiantly in front of them. The tanks did not stop.
