Terrible Malice

Last night’s speech concerning the recent refugees from the Empire of Terrible Malice given by Silam Malice himself in front of the Tribunal Palace in the capital of Violenceburg
People! Free people of Terrible Malice! Today I, Silam Malice, stand before you with a request. Not a request for you to work harder, not a request for you to eat less. Not a request that will reduce your life quality at all.
No.
My request is not of this nature. I do not demand any of you to sacrifice yourselves. Know that the first ones to sacrifice themselves shall be the Tribunal and the last shall be you. My request is not one of sacrifices at all.
All I ask you to do is to continue to live in our nation. Many of you have fled to other nations lately with a hope of a better future. But few have found it. And those who have, for I do not deny that some of them have, they have gotten it, not from hard work, and not from bare luck: They have gotten it from crime. For those who wish to get rich by committing crime, have no place in our nation. In the Tribunal’s opinion, they do not have a place in any nation.
<Crowd cheering before Tribunal leader S. Malice continues in a calmer voice>
However, not all nations are of this perception. Not all nations see as clearly as ours that crime is the greatest enemy of the free people. Not all nations know that by ending crime, they end all injustice. Crime is the weed that kills the flower of prosperity. Crime and greatness can not walk hand in hand.
Some of you were sceptical towards the founding of The Department of Citizen Control & Protection. But the DCCP reduced crime more efficient than we could dream of. By the first month, crime was a rarity. By the second month, crime was reduced by 95%. But we did not stop. How could we? To develop a system that allowed errors is not in our style. This may be the normal procedure in the world society. But it is not the way that the empire of Terrible Malice handles issues.
We invented a new system. Despite great controversy, the barcode marking of all citizens was the greatest crime fighting success in the history of man. Never before have any nation been able to report crime statistics so close to zero as we are able to now. Some days we have even had problems finding work for our fine DCCP officers.
But we do not allow anybody to go without work. As you know, there is not a single person in this nation who misses a job. No man or woman in working age lacks a job. So we decided to train the DCCP officers in military tactics and combat. By doing this, we can have a remarkable army. As a matter of fact, 12 per cent of the nation’s total population is occupied full time or part time in the military. Either through their jobs in the DCCP or as professional soldiers.
<Crowd cheering>
Do not make the mistake… Free people of the Empire: Do not make the mistake of letting this make you believe that we wish war. There are few things we despise more than war. Not only because we are a small nation. Not only because we have all the land that we’ll ever need for population growth. But because we do not believe in war as a solution. How can the death of our citizens do them any good? How can destruction of our infrastructure lead to economical growth? How can fear among our citizens make our nation prosper?
It can’t. More than once, however, have we encountered nations that do not feel the same way. When we have reached out to the world society, we have received accusations and war-threats in return. We have done our greatest effort to use diplomacy to avoid war. And up until now, we have succeeded. But for how long can we negotiate ourselves out of conflicts?
Our nation is not old, but our ideals and our system have already proved to be better than most others. This is not tolerated by capitalists. This is not accepted among the members of the UN. We have made a better system, and they can not tolerate it. Repeatedly they have accused us of cruelty, hoping to start a war. But they have soon gotten problems when we have asked them to justify a war against us. This is due to one single reason: No war can be justified.
<Crowd cheering>
They have criticized our penal system, which by all standards is among the best in the world. They have even tried to blame us for developing biological weapons; genetically engineered rodents with killing capabilities. Of course no such rodent exists.
So what do you choose? What do the people of Terrible Malice choose? To leave for one of these liberal capitalist “paradises” to prosper by committing crimes? Or do you choose to stay protected and satisfied in our nation? Do you wish to leave a country where everybody works, everybody receives meat and milk every day, everybody gets a pay check of 25BP’s every week and crime is not even a minor problem?
<Crowd yelling “No” before chanting “Malice, Malice, Malice” for two hours, both referring to the Tribunal leader as well as the nation. The Tribunal, consisting of Silam Malice, Oratha Cresto and Vladim Viloshus, greets the crowd until the masses stop chanting. Then S. Malice finally completes his speech>
Thank you! But know that I am not the one to applaud. Not even the Tribunal is worthy of your praise. Only you, noble citizens, deserve gratitude. For you have built this land with your own sweat, blood and tears. All we have done, is guided you along the way. Thank you!
<Silam Malice turns around and walks back in to the Tribunal Palace followed by his two partners in the Tribunal, before the crowd starts a massive celebration that lasts all night.>
