Recently, the LRRN has been expanded to meet new earth tech naval requirements. Many gapsin LRRN ship classes have been filled in, and the navy is probably the most capable and diverse (in terms of equipent) branch of the LRR military. We are looking for your input, in terms of what to change, what to get, etc. Keep in mind that budget constraints imit the LRRN to only 1 or 2 major fleet carriers, while still maintaining the very strong surface warfare capability.

The Bras d'Or class hyrdrofoil is LRR's newest patrol ship. They are designed to replace the Hauk class in the role of shore patrol ship. They are armed with two Ak-630 MOD CIWS mounts, one foreward and one aft, providing the ship with defense against ASMs and hostile aircraft. They also carry four torpedos for engaging submarines. The Bras d'Or class can reach and exceed 60 knots in calm seas, allowing it to engage even the fastest small boats, making special forces incursions into LRR extremely dangerous.

The Vosper II class corvettes are LRR's primary fleet defense vessels, and reflect fleet command's fear of a nuclear warhead obliterating an entire battlegroup. They carry up to four Ak-630 CIWS mounts for self defense. They also carry eight torpedos for engaging submarines, and carry a Ka-27 capable of carrying out ASW and SAR operations. In terms of missiles, the Vosper class carries exclusively AA and Anti-missile weapons. The ship carries the new SA-18 SAM, capable of engagement up to 150km away, further when directed by a closer ship or target designator. They are capable of engaging stealth aircraft, and can reach up to mach 3. They are able to destroy certain types of ballistic missiles as well. The other missile carried by the Vosper is the RAM MOD antimissile weapon. The RAM is a small, fast missile capable of up to mach 4 flight, and capable of engaging at between zero and 5,000 meters altitude any known ASM. They have a range of 7km. The vosper itself can reach speeds of up to 34 knots, and the trimiran hull makes the ship both fast and very resistant to damage. Seen is one of the early test versions.

LRR uses the Sovermenny class destroyer, comnplete with the regular assortment of domestic modifications.

The centerpiece of LRR's offensive surface warfare capability are the two Kirov class cruisers. They are the pride of the fleet, and are usually employed in support of LRR overses operations.

LRR also uses four Slava class cruisers, and they also form an important part of LRR's surface warfare capability. Their 16 ASMs are very dangerous to hostile battlegroups.

LRR also uses the Udaloy class destroyers, and they make up the majority of LRR's destroyer fleet. While the Sovremennys are usually found in the north sea and the baltic sea, close to LRR, Udaloys range the world's oceans.

http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/skjold/images/Skjold_5.jpg

LRR uses the Skjold class corvette for shore patrol/defense purposes. The LRR differs from the reular version mainly because of its twin Ak-630 mounts and increased missile capacity.

LRR's primary missile boat is the Bora II class. The bora operates on the same principle as the Skjold class, and the LRR version differs from the origional manly in its design corrections, making it very cheap and easy to maintain, as well as very reliable.

The fleet operates the Zubr class as its primary landing craft. While they usually fill that purpose, they are used in some cases as shore patrol vessels.

http://warships.ru/Russia/Fighting_Ships/SKR/1135-3.jpg

The Krivak class forms the backbone of LRR's frigate force, providing battlegroups with serous ASW capability.

The falcon class is also used by LRR for sub hunting in home waters. Its hydrofoil design allows it to reach very high speeds. However, most of LRR's ASW tasks are taken up by Skjold corvettes, and Falcon class ships are not used in any substantial numbers.

Tarantul class missile boats can be seen with LRR battlegroups once and a while, relics of purchases made in the past. However, they are not used in substantial numbers and the task of missile boat is mostly taken up by the Bora and Skjold classes.

The Hauk class patrol boats are used heavily by the LRRN. They form the bulk of the home defense fleet, even with the introduction of the Bras d'Or class hydrofoils. Their low cost and reliability keep them in service, and they are a common sight in the waters of the baltic.

http://homepage.tinet.ie/~steven/images/gernavytornado2.jpg

The LRRN relys on the Tornado IDS for its anti-shipping duties. They fly from bases all over the LRR coast, and provide the navy with air support in the way of the Tornado's ASM carrying capability. LRR versions have been converted to carry most types of ASMs.

LRR's primary shipboard helicopter is the Ka-27, complete with the usual roundup of domestic modifications.

The LRRN operates the Nimrod 2000 as its main airborne ASW platform. They are a common sight in waters around LRR, and are usually employed for fisheries patrol and anti-smuggling operations.

The Westland Sea King is used by the LRRN for coastal SAR and utility roles. Its amphibious capability is essential to this role.

The LRRN operates a single fighter type-the Su-33. They are used aboard the LRRNS Harriet Beecher Stowe and as escorts for Nimrods and other LRRN units.

The primiary submarine in use by the LRRN is the Kilo class, brought to the highest LRR stndards of construction.

The LRRAF operates dedicated SA-18 anti-missile batteries, which are located all over LRR and are meant to provide coverage for most of LRR against ballistic missiles, as well as low-flying cruise missiles. The SA-18 missiles also have excellent AA capability.

http://www.machtres.com/su47-1.jpg

The best LRRAF interceptor is the Su-47III, a heavily modified version of the origional Berkut.

http://www.anft.net/f-14/photo-f104mig29-01l.jpg

The LRRAF operates the F-104 as its primary interceptor type. Its unmatched speed makes the Starfighter the first line of defense against incoming bombers. As well as this, the F-104 is also used as a deep strike jet. They will come in low and fast, and usually deliver a payload of fuel-air explosives or rockets on enemy forces, then speed away. The MiG-29 is also heavily used by LRR, and makes up most of the Frontal Aviation wing of the LRRAF, designed to support ground forces.

http://home.planet.nl/~roden171/fotos/usn39.jpg

The LRRAF uses the Grumman S-2X tracker for a variety of tasks. They have shown themselves very resistant to damage, and battlefield AEW and support tasks are easily accomplished by the tracker. They can mount all major LRR ECM and AEW equipment, as well as a large payload of munitions. 20-mm cannons are mounted in the lower front fuselage, and the reinforced landing gear makes the S-2 very suited to landings on roads and fields. The X model also has impressive STOL characteristics, unparallelled by any other aircraft of its size.

The LRRAF operates a small wing of RF-101 Voodoos, used exclusively for photorecon purposes.
