CoreWorlds scientists seek to build competition to supercav!

CoreWorlds

Military Science News: Due to the number of nations with supercaviation torpedoes, our scientists have sought to build a competition torpedo to make the time between shooting and detonation shorter. Called Project SilentRunning, we decided to turn to fiberglass substances to help reduce the drag on the torpedo, to be called the Mk 60. The propellers themselves will be fiberglass as well, with titanium pockets for strength. Computer projections have promised a top speed in excess of 100 knots. Although perhaps not as fast as supercavs, it is most definitely faster than the 30+ knots of MK 48 and 50 torpedoes that are in current naval service today.

In additon, scientists are looking into other methods of propulsion, such as water jets, for the torpedoes.

OOC: If you have any comments or suggestions for improvement, please say such things kindly, rather than just say "GODMOD" and leave. If it is godmodding, then explain why, very carefully.

The Fedral union and its allies in culdeing core worlds and Corneliu plan to test this device out in hopes that it will brig good results . We have plans to out fit our entier fleet with this new MK 60 Torpdo . If it proves Vible.

We are looking on ware the traineing grouds would be for this.

and for further note it was these falowing nations who jointly delvopethis product :

Would it be faster than the +50 knots British Swordfish torpedo?

If you wish to build a new non-supercavitating torpedo, try to substitute the propellors with a solid-fuel rocket propulsion device...

We plan to stick with propellers for the time being, and yes, it's projected to go in excess of 100 knots.

Want in on a little secret, 5CN's Crusade Naval Enterprises is designing a new uber-cavitating torpedo to replace their +300 knot Raiden Mk II Long Lancer Torpedo, with a two ton plastech warhead... It will be called the Trireme High Yield Convention Uber-Cavitating Torpedo, with a projected top speed of +400 knots and a four point five ton plastech warhead...

Crusade Naval Enterprises is looking for partners to design and build such a torpedo. A total of five companies and nations can become part of it. Any company willing to participate will receive a ten percent stake in the project... Initial investment for such a stake must be above US$5 billion.

Oh boy, willing investors!!!

To design this torpedo, Crusade Naval Enterprises has spent a total of US$132,129,184,784 in designing its super- and uber-cavitating torpedoes. They have managed to recoup most of its expenditure by selling these weapons to the Five Civilized Nations and to the colonies/subsidiaries of the Five Civilized Nations.

How much money are you willing investors willing to initially invest?

May we inquire to as to why Coreworlds does not follow suit, and produce Super-Caviating torpedos? Conventional torpedos are now at a disadvantage against such torpedos - surely there must be a reason behind this move.

If you'd like, we could collaborate on a Super-Caviating torpedo - my nation has already built prototypes, and we are currently in the testing and refinement phase.

[[5CN, do you have a storefront?]]

Narcs: Military Specialists, led by Jae Medders, is interested in this venture. We submit to your venture $16,300,000,000. Thank you.

I have a submarine storefront, here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=98829&highlight=)

Let's see the investments:
Sniper Country--16.3 billion
The Fedral Union--10-15 billion
Corneliu--5 billion
Total--31.3-36.3 billion

All the investments have been accepted. There will no longer be other investment opportunities except for Coreworlds.

The division of the stakes will be a little different than originally planned...
Crusade Naval Enterprises--60-65%
Sniper Country--15%
The Fedral Union--10-15%
Corneliu--5%

Perhaps - that's the only advantage I see.

2 : its as good as the super crav and gose as fast

Untrue. The super-cav torp is significant faster. The reason why regular torpedos cannot attain higher speeds is due to the resistance of the water.

Exonerate, you do realize I already have super-cavitating torpedoes right? I'm developing a new class called the uber-cavitating torpedo, which is faster, more powerful, and bigger than a super-cavitating torpedo...

Yes, our nation is aware of that - that is why we specified it as the Trieme class torpedo.

Hey dont go bursting our buble we have desined it to go to super crevtaiteing speeds .. with normal props ... we have made shure the prop's and the torpdo can with stand the pressure . now if the desighners say it can go as fast as the super crevateing torpdo it can And our Desiners are a pretty good team .

We will pour 7 billion credits into this program, and add another 14 as progress goes on. 1 credit = 1 USD.

And anyway, we plan to produce the fastest propeller-powered torpedoes. We know that it is not as fast as the supercavs, but it should be much faster than the MK 48 and cheaper than the supercavs.

OOC: It's a physical impossibility. Normal propellers can't provide enough force to push it any faster due to the water's resistance. It's like trying to go FTL just by adding more and more thrust - you can't do it.
CoreWorlds
01-02-2004, 23:53
OOC: That's true. We are just attempting to push the limits of propeller technology. Besides, that 100 knot speed is a projected speed anyway. It may actually be smaller.
McLeod03
01-02-2004, 23:56
OOC: Not meaning to dampen your ideas, but there is a specific art to super-cavitation, and normal props will not be capable of going anywhere NEAR fast enough.
