The USIH Military, having had several problems with its doctrine pointed out in a recent Military Exercise has decided to start an intense training program for units of over Regimental Size. Previously there has been nothing bigger than a single Division Exercise, but this has to change. Below is our schedule for increasing the training and expertise of every division in the USIH army, while training them to co-ordinate further with their air and naval support.

1st Exercise.

Components: 5th Marine Division, 14th Infantry Division, the USIHS Phantom Carrier Battle Group, 12 F-15Es of 1st Air Wing, 12 F-16s of 1st Air Wing, 1 AEW 767 detached from Strategic Air Command. 1st Amphibious Support Group w/1 Iowa Class Battleship.

Type: Amphibious assualt on outlying Island, supported by carrier group and Amphib force.

2nd Exercise

Components: 1st Army Group [1st Armoured, 2nd Armoured, 22nd Armoured] 3rd Army Group [15th Infantry, 16th Infantry, 42 Armoured Cavalry]

Type: Open Combat w/o airsupport.

There are more training exercises that require other nations military units, and these will be posted soon.

OOC: Comments and stuff is very welcome.

Results of First Exercise:

2 Regiments of the Marine Division landed along with the tank and artillery complements on the beaches of Salvo Island. The 3rd Regiment remained in reserve. They encountered light resistance from small units of the 14th Infantry Division.
As the Marines moved inshore and the 3rd Regiment came ashore they met increasingly strong resistance. Keeping only a single Battalion in reserve General Knight commanding 14th Infantry, smashed through the Marine Lines. Only a hastily assembled counterattack by the 3rd Regiment stopped them within sight of the landing ships bringing in supplies.
A battalion of Marines were cut off along with 5 tanks, these held out for 2 hours before being overrun by artillery and tanks.
The 14th Infantry then proceeded to roll up the beachhead, with only airstrikes from the carrier offshore hindering them.

In all the 14th Infantry won the battle, losing 52% of combat strength to death and wounds, along with 52 tanks, 12 helicopters and 4 artillery pieces.

The 5th Marines lost 67% combat strength, all 82 of its tanks, 8 helicopters and 24 artillery pieces.

Valuable lessons were learnt, and a rematch has been sheduled for 6 months time. (bout 6 days)

Nice.

The key to any good landing is getting everythign you can on the beach at once and pushing as far inland as possible.

Then, as reinforcements are brought in, you can reinforce. Anyway, that was pretty damn good. Very damn good.
