For years, our nation has poured trillions of dollars into the space program, hoping to achieve our eventual goal of reaching the stars. And today, we have come one step closer to that dream. The first manned mission to be undertaken by the Holy Principality of Rather Convenient has been launched.

Our Destination
3 men and 3 women are now aboard our spacecract, the Messenger of God. The Messenger of God uses the Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket (VASIMR) system for propulsion, which in turn is powered by a small nuclear fission reactor. VASIMR works by taking gas and using an electric field to excite it to a state of plasma - then a electromagnetic field guides the plasma out, producing thrust. As the name implies, the speed can be adjusted - the maximum cruising speed of our craft is 350km/s.
The Messenger of God was launched today, from low orbit, after being ferried up by a shuttle. It is loaded with scientific equipment, which will help our explorers conduct surveys of the planet. The expected arrival time is 6 days.
