The Nation of Farstaristan has issued a request asking that Midlonia and the PRPM stand down immediately. War is not something to be dealt with so easily. It is willing to open its borders and let tri-lateral talks be started. The Nation of Farstaristan was said that it will not stand aside and let war erupt without finding a peaceful solution first.

Midlonia and the PRPM have not commented and no word has been sent if they agreed.

The uranium being sold, having come out of a mine, is useless for weapons use unless refined. And refining is impossible unless a reactor and expertise is present. It is not like the Proletariat Masses is selling weapons grade plutionium.

Kanabia is perfectly entitled to purchase this uranium, and it has the means and expertise to do with it whatever it likes. Any Midlonian aggression to the Proletariat Masses will be met with severe force.

We have raised our military alert status, and sent our aircraft carrier "Orca" With its complement of 18 MiG-29 "Fulcrum" fighters and supporting "Hokum" and "Helix" class helicopters, as well as a small marine expeditionary force along with supporting ships to the defence of the Proletariat Masses. We all remember that several years back, ASW came into conflict over the Midlonian uranium market and attempted to shut it down. It was never quite clarified whether it succeeded or not. What seems to be confusing many people now is that this once uranium-productive nation is now going against the free trade of uranium.

ASW's new dictator, in his first attempt to set old wrongs right and congratulate Midlonia in this attempt, has set the nation behind Midlonia in this attempt after several threatening statements from a nation known as Kanabia.

Earlier today, the new dictator of ASW, Gen. Robert Steinhauser released a statement regarding the uranium export trade.

"This isn't pleasing news to hear. ASW shuns all uranium exportation. We have also heard of brewing hostilities towards Midlonia, and is willing to provide complete military force without hesitation. Hostilities towards Midlonia are hostilities towards ASW, and neither nation will be threatened."

When asked exactly what the dictator meant, Steinhauser gave no comment, but instead ordered for the cameras to be removed from the capital.

It seems that negotiatiaons have failed. Let it not be said that we did not try. I will now issue an ultimatum of my own. Get that battleship out of range of all PRPM assets or I will sink it.

By the way: we never threatened you with nuclear weapons. By "new bombs", the (recently fired) diplomat must have meant the new line of guided HE bombs from our small wing of Tu-16 Badgers. We had not even begun our R&D program at that time, so threating with a nuke would have been impossible. It was a grevious error in diplomacy, but there is little truning back now in any event.

Keep in mind that if you sink that cargo ship, it will pollute the entire Equilism coastline. You are now threatining the entire region of Equilism.

If Midlonia sinks the uranium transport, the radioactive contamination to the environment would be a worldwide catastrophe, and will unite the nations of the world against your nation. As we have said previously, said uranium is *not* weapons material. To make it weapons material, expertise and special facilities are needed. If the small nations that you so fear obtaining this material acquire some, it is impossible for them to turn it into a nuclear weapon. Should you sink this ship, it will be extremely hypocritical of you to do so, considering that many small coastal nations may be almost annihilated by the radiatioactive material washing up on their beaches...no matter how you sink it, uranium will leak out.

A squadron of modified (with high quality Kanabian avionics and engines) TU-26 Backfire bombers capable of reaching the capital cities of Midlonia and ASW. are now enroute to the PRPM, along with 2 squadrons of SU-27 Flankers, and several squadrons of SU-25 Frogfoots. We are also dispatching ground assets to assist PRPM. We do not desire war, but our forces will stand by to defend the citizens of the PRPM. No aggressive actions will be taken on our part, but if you hit first, we will bring you down. If it comes to war, bear in mind that we have allies that will aid us.

The Federal Empire of DarkSith deplores the heavyhanded approach Midlonia has used in this situation, and is already moving to help the distressed nation of The Proletariat Masses.

I never declared this a closed RP, and I'm the one who started this thread (in case you forgot). Even by your arbitrary Page 2 rules (which I would have no problem with if you stuck to them instead of changing them as you go), Hattia would be able to throw in their aid (although I did expect the Allied States of Equility to show up sooner). You can't simply cut off military aid from your enemy because you feel like it. If you set up a naval blockade, maybe, but that would spread even your forces a bit thin.

Onboard the Chimera:

"Sir, I've got gunflash!" shouted the radar controlman.

Admiral Remel picked up the radio. "All cruisers, open fire!" All fifteen cruisers, who had already sighted and loaded their guns, opened fire on the Elias. Each ship had fired at least one salvo before the rounds from the Elias and the Light struck.

Onboard the Chariot:

The Elias's rounds were aimed at the Chariot Two rounds hit the water, three rounds hit the starboard hull, and three hit the deck. "Hull breach! Hull breach!" shouted the first mate to the captain.

The captian shouted over the (thankfully still intact" announcement system. "We have a hull breach. All crew head for the lifeboats." The crew headed for the lifeboats as the vessel took on water. "Are the pumps functional?" asked the captain as he considered trying to fire another salvo before the vessel sank.

"No, sir. Not a single pump is running."

A shower of sparks shot from some wiring on the wall. A machinist's mate ran up from below decks. "Sir, all electrical systems have shorted. The speakers and radio are offline."

"Did anyone radio the Chimera?" demanded the Captain as the machinist's mate ran for a lifeboat.

The first mate spoke up. "I did, sir, just before the radio went down. Sir, there is one helicopter aft, the one we flew in on. Most of the command personnel is already on it. Unless you'd rather go down with the ship..."

The captian and first mate ran for the Mi-8 helicopter and it took off just before the deck where it was landed (the ships were so old that they had no proper helipads).



Onboard the Chimera (again):

The Light's attack was aimed at the Chimera itself. Three rounds hit the water ahead of the ship, four rounds hit the bow hull, and one hit the bow deck. Alarms blared across the ship. Admiral Remel, commanding, asked Rear Admiral Dolomero, "Are we sinking?"

"No, sir, but we aren't doing too well. The pumps are just barely holding, and the bow cannon is gone."

"Are the other ships okay?"

"The Chariot is down, but the others seem okay so far."

"How about the Elias?"

They were interrupted by the radar officer. "Sir, incoming cruise missiles! One headed for us, two headed for the Corsair!"

"What kind of AA does this thing have?" demanded the Admiral.

"Four flak cannons, three functional." was the radar officer's reply.

The three flak cannons began firing at the cruise missile, but without much success, as they were horribly outdated. Just as the actual cruise missile was within sight (as opposed to the trail, which the gunners were using to aim), one of the flak cannons got a lucky shot at the missile's guidance system, and the cruise missile veered off towards the water.

"Take cover!" shouted several crew members. The cruise missile hit the water about a hundred and fifty yards starboard of the Chimera and exploded. Shrapnel ripped at everything above deck, killing any crewman who did not take cover in time. The blast threw a huge shockwave of water at the Chimera, causing it to tilt in the water.

As it righted itself, the admiral shouted "Status report!"

A bosun's mate replied, "We're taking on water, but we've got a few hours if the pumps hold. But I don't expect them to. Most non-combat systems intact, but we've lost all cannons and all but one flak. Engines mostly functional. That helicopter is gone."

The admiral cursed loudly. "You'd better make those pumps hold."

Onboard the Corsair:

"Incoming missile!"

Captain Herrman cursed as he heard that. "Fire all point defense!" The Corsair had six functional flak cannons, but a somewhat faulty radar. The radar officer detected only one missile. All six outdated AAA pieces fired at the first incoming missile. The sheer volume of fire was enough to cause the missile to detonate at a safe distance. The crew cheered and it came as a complete surprize when the second missile streaked down and scored a direct hit on the bridge. The captain and all command were killed instantly. Perhaps the ship could have been saved if there was a single officer left alive, but as it was, the entire crew fled for the lifeboats, despite the fact that the ship was not yet taking on water.

On land, at Airbase Beta:

"Scramble all aircraft!" shouted Air Marshall Hendrix. Five wings of MiG-27 Floggers, each armed with AA-8 "Aphid" missiles, took off from the airbase. This was slightly less than half of the PRPM Air Force. The remainder of the which was stationed at Airbase Alpha, and the few ground attackers were hidden at several smaller airpads, the locations of which were not largely known.

"Okay," said the Air Marshall over the radio once the figthers were airborne. "We've got some Frogfoots and Super Flankers headed toward what remains of our cruisers. Your prime targets are the Frogfoots, as the Super Flankers can't cause the same destruction on the fleet. They can, however, take you out, if you aren't DAMN careful. If you're getting overwhelemed, fire chaff and get the hell out. Just take down as many bogies as you can before that happens. You are nearing the emeny now. Keep alert."

OOC: The cruisers aren't my entire navy, but they may as well be, as the only other things I have are a few patrol boats at the dock. I have some MiG-27s (in the air, and another couple of wings at Alpha), a single wing of Su-47s, recently purchased, and a couple of wings of Yak-38 Forgers. I have four Tu-16s and two Tu-26s at the aformentioned secret airbases. For anti-air, I have similarly dated ex-Soviet SAMs and AAA at the airbases, and mobile SAMs and AAA with my armor (although not too much). With the exception of the cruisers, everything is kept in excellent condition, despite its age.

You have no right to tell me how many troops I can deploy, If I followed SOP, my troops would be knocking at your doorstep right now. Anyway, I can beat you with 10,000 men easily and I will

ICBM Control Center: Southern Hattia

The missileers sat in their seats, drinking coffee and talking to each other. "Attention!" The stood up quickly and saluted. They both didn't like their commander much. He came from the Spec-Ops and was very tough on them. "We've gotten orders directly from the Prime Minister, says here we are to launch precision strikes on military targets in Midlonia." They both nodded, saluted and sat back down. "The missileer on the right looked at a map, she pointed to a place on it. "Here?" the commander, who was walking out of the door, turned around. "Yes, try to minimize civilian casualties..." With that he walked out. The missileers swiveled slightly in their seats and pulled out 1 key each and inserted them into a slot, "3, 2, 1, now." the twisted the keys simultanieously(sp?). "Missiles armed." the missileers touched military targets on the screen. "Got your target?" The other missileer smiled, "Yes, fire in 3, 2, 1, go!" (These are not nukes, just regular warheads)

Official Statement from the Prime Minister

Tonight, I have authorized the use of force against the nation of Midlonia. They have unnecessarily attacked The Proletariat Masses. They have also gone to war with our ally, Kanabia. I have ordered the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fleets to go in to protect our comrades. I have also activated the 1st Armored division, the 4th Heavy Infantry Division, and the 13th Hat Guard Expeditionary Division to help fend off an attack and for a possible invasion of Midlonia. Good night comrades, they shall feel our wrath...


1 hour after the announcement, the Hattian fleets headed off to defend their comrades. A radio message was sent out ahead of them to PRPM and Kanabia. "Greetings comrades, hold them off for a little longer, help is on the way!"

OOC: ok i am sorrry then.. i'll just stick to wiping out your fleet and a couple of other things, before either being forced back or something...I'll put an interesting plot twist in perhaps....(again on mmy brothers account sorry)

The admiral was rather calmly standing on deck still when the PRPM shells hit the elias, one hit the deck and exploded, one hit the bow of the ship, but made a statisfying ping as it flew up onto the deck, two hit their targets and exploded... at the end of this show.. the admiral walked back in, and continued to drink his tea.

OOC: Sorry about bringing Hattia into this, I would have found a November nation to assist me, but I didnt know any well enough to ask them. Besides, I think any nation would pick the most powerful ally that they have :) It doesnt mean that Hattia has to send their entire army/navy/airforce and totally annihilate you. It just makes things a bit more interesting. Im sure he'll play fair (Well, he didn't send nuclear warheads on those ICBMs lol) and we can continue roleplaying this properly. And if you've got a plot twist, go for it, as long as its reasonable.

On board the Aircraft Carrier "Orca"
Aide: "Sir, The PRPM cruisers have engaged the Midlonian fleet. It appears that they are no match for them"
Admiral: "We have our orders. Send out the code to begin operation Jackhammer"
Aide: "Aye, Sir."

Upon receiving the code, Kanabia's 10 advanced Hammerhead class guided missile submarines surface, and unleash their payload of cruise missiles against the Midlonian Fleet. Sixty large missiles rain down upon the Midlonian fleet.

***DAMAGE ASSESSMENT***
Submarine SS-2352 "Revolution"
"Damage to enemy fleet is expected to be high. Several plumes of black smoke can be seen on the horizon. We have no way of telling at this stage how many missiles actually got through, however we expect that the enemy fleet was totally unprepared for this attack. Beginning maneuvers to avoid possible ASW assets, Rigging for silent running. If possible, will surface in 8 hours to receive further orders. Recommend airstrike to finish off enemy fleet."

Onboard the Orca, MiG-29 fighters are launching to assist PRPM fighters enroute to enemy fleet. Helix helicopters are working overtime to make sure that if there are any Midlonian submarines in the area, they are detected and destroyed.

From Bases in Kanabia, TU-160 Blackjack bombers armed with standoff cruise missiles are readying to attack several important Midlonian Command and Control facilities. Frogfoots based in the PRPM are readying to attack any Midlonian ground forces that land in the PRPM, while SU-27 and SU-33 aircraft are standing by to intercept aircraft. TU-26 Backfire bombers are readying to launch to attack SAM missile sites on the Midlonian mainland, to clear the path for the Blackjack bombers. Several makeshift SAM sites with SA-6 Gainfuls, Crotale and Rapier missiles have been set up in the PRPM.

Kanabian Presidents address to the population:
"My people, my comrades. It brings me pain to say this, but on this day, we have entered into hostilities with the Nation of Midlonia. Midlonia's unjustified aggression to our purchases of uranium from the Peoples Republic of the Proletarian Masses has today culminated in a naval conflict between PRPM forces and those of Midlonia. We stand by the PRPM in this matter, and will repulse the imperialistic advances made by Midlonia. However, we do not stand alone. Our great comrades and friends, Hattia, are assisting us. My people, my comrades, we shall stand united against imperialist aggression just as we always have, only this time we may regrettably have to both spill, and lose, blood to remain standing. We shall not kneel. We shall not fall."

All over the nation, Kanabian citizens stared at their television screens in stunned silence. They had received the poll asking for their opinions on hostilities, and most had agreed with the government stance...they all knew hostilities were possible...but the actual declaration of war stunned them. Kanabia had never gone to war as an independent nation. When Upper Kanabia and Lower Kanabia merged together from British and French colonies and formed a socialist state after the Second World War, there had been no fighting, as both governments had not had the ability or desire to fight the Kanabian people after exhausting themselves in the war, and despite 40% of the nation having been European at that time, the internal conditions were perfect for a peaceful velvet revolution, and only a small few opposed it (The neglect by the two controlling powers had even left the immigrant white population impoverished.) Even during the war, few Kanabians fought, as those that served were usually medical personnel. The military participated regulary in peacekeeping and relief efforts, but never had they gone to war, and as a consequence, the recently elevated military spending level had not sat well with the Kanabian people. But now, they would see the need. On this day, very few smiles broke the faces of Kanabian citizens, and went about their daily lives uttering very few words, speaking only when absolutely necessary. February 3rd...the day of silence.

I didn't mean for them to hit civilians, we targeted military installations. And there is no way I could send my entire army, 25 million men would be impossible to land anywhere... 10,000 is a good number for a landing force.

Message to the leader of Midlonia

As long as this conflict lasts, we will continue to bombard your nation with ICBMs. We didn't mean to hit civilian buildings, we were aiming for military installations.

Hattian fleet: Approaching battlezone quickly

Admiral Yteslav paced around the bridge, "Have we detected them yet?" The radarman sighed, "No sir, they should be on the long range radar soon." Yteslav was a rather impatient man, "What did the satellites pick up?" "PRPM's crusiers attacked the enemy fleet, but are no match for them and Kanabia has launched missile strikes..." Yteslav laughed, "They think missile strikes are bad, wait until they get a taste of these cannons!"

Heavy Battleship: Power of the Proletariat

Admiral Yteslav almost jumped with joy when he saw the enemy ships appear on the radar, he had just recieved command of these new battleships and was anxious to see them in action. "Arm the missiles and notify the carriers to launch their planes!"

[b]Aircraft Carrier: Hammer of the People

Klaxons began blaring all over the ship "All pilots to your craft!", men began rushing up to the decks and climbing into their planes, or preparing to launch the planes. Mostly Mig-31s, and Sea Snake torpedo bombers, with a few HASC-2s mixed in. (HASC-2s are good for carriers since they are very small and nimble)

The same thing began happening on the other 3 carriers in the fleet. While Kirov class Missile crusiers began to move up to the front of the fleet...

30 minutes later...

"Admiral, the enemy is within visual range!" Yteslav pulled up his binoculars, "Heh, give them a volley and close with them." The officer walked over to the radio, "All ships, fire at will!"

The Power's huge cannons rotated a bit and the fired, shaking the whole ship. The other 5 battleships did the same. While Kirov missile
cruisers launched their salvoes.

Above the battle

"This is Red 1 to all Squadrons, Blue Squadron, attack the ASW aircraft, the rest of us, Attack the ships!" The planes dove down from above the clouds, heading towards the Midlonian ships...

OOC: Sorry for the swearing and whatnot earlier. I tend to get a little egdy (okay, paranoid) when joining a board because of some bad expieriences with being on the reciving end of "bash the newb."

In the air:

"Oh, shit." said Richard Chaka, the Wing 1 Leader. Into his radio, he told the rest of the wings, "Our flight path takes us right over the battleships! Ready evasive maneauvers and chaff!" Just then, on his radar, he saw the Kanabian missiles headed towards the Midlonian ships. "Correction: gain altitude." The fighters gained altitude, and the SAM systems on the battleships engaged the incoming missiles instead of the overflying fighters.

"PRPM wings!" a voice blared over the radio. "This is a Kanabian Air Force wing operating from the Orca. What is your present mission directive?"

"We're gonna try and take down the Frogfoots headed for the cruisers. We could use somebody to run interference on the Super Flankers."

"Roger wilco."

Chaka spotted incoming migs on his radar. "Is that you guys on our 3?"

"Negative."

He swore again. "Wings three and five, incoming bogies at three o-clock! Wings one, two, and four, maintain present course."

Two wings of MiG-27s flew towards the Midlonian MiGs (OOC: They're MiG-29s, right?). Just before getting in range of the superior aircraft, the MiG-27s split up and took evasive maneuvers. They had already had a well-rehearsed battle plan for this emergency. (But that, then, is the policy of the PRPM: attempt to make up for inferior equipment with superior training. Sometimes this works, sometimes it fails miserably.) Both wings seemed to be taking equally random evasive manuvers, but it was no coincidence that all the figthers of Wing 4 were somewhat easier to track for the Midlonian fighters. The Midlonians certainly couldn't tell the difference, but they realized fairly quickly that just as they were about to get locks on their targets, their radar systems were blaring that someone was getting locks on them, in this case the fighters of Wing 2.

On the Chimera:

These cruisers were not planned to be battle-ready for another few months! How can I... An unpleasant thought struck Admiral Remel. I'm gonna have to, won't I. He was getting reports of incoming gunfire from all the new cruisers. What was even more unpleasant than the reports, however, was losing radio contact with an attacked ship and knowing that yet another ship had been lost. A radio report came in from a Tu-126 recon plane overflying the enemy navy at a safe altitude. His ships weren't doing jack shit, although the Kanabian subs were dealing some damage. He took a deep breath and gave a command order over an encrypted frequency (OOC: Nobody but the captains of the ships have decrypters, so don't metagame. If you have anything less than a Cray T2 on board of one of those ships, then you won't break the encryption until after the ships get to where they're going). "All ships, cease fire and begin evasive action. Try to stay out of sight, head around the battleships, and get to the docks. If you don't hear from me after a barrage, this is the line of command:" Admiral Remel then listed off the ship captains in order of reliability, starting with Rear Admiral Dolomero. "Good luck, comerades."

In a bunker underneath the Capitol:

"Not since the revolution have we ever been in this much peril." muttered Boris Ivanovich, the Duly Elected President of the People's Republic of the Proletariat Masses. He adressed Nolan Sadek, his Minister of Defense. "What kind of defenses do we have at the port? Do we have anything we can hit those ships with?"

"There's a bunch of towed arty defending the port. Pretty heavy stuff, but the ships are out of range," explained Sadek. "We only have three SCUD-B launchers. We were going to purchase more, but the deal fell through. We also don't have much ammo for them." Sadek's job was largely an advisorial position, as the President had been a general in the Great Revolution and preferred to give orders himself if he had the chance.

"They'll have to suffice. I want Shilkas with the SCUDs at all times, and they should move to a different location after each firing. I don't want the missiles being traced to the launchers. Airstrikes could take out all of our long-range capability." The President mused to himself. SCUDs. The great equilizer. Even in the first Gulf War, the advanced Patriot systems largely failed to birng them down. Those Russians sure know how to make weaponry. He continued commanding Sadek. "I want the arty crews on high alert. As soon as a ship comes in range, bash it. What kind of Ack-Ack do we have at the port?"

"Not much, but the Kanabians have set up a few sites."

"Move some Panstyrs to back them up. How badly is our navy getting bashed?"

"The cruisers are in a full retreat to the docks. The Midlonian navy has been reenforced, but is largely occupied with our new allies. The Light has sunk."

"And our air force?"

"No reports yet, sir. They are, however, being reenforced by Kanabian aircraft."

"Do they look like they'll try a land attack yet?"

"Not at this time, sir. The battleships could, theoretically, hit several targets, including the mine from the water. To do that, though, they'd have to get closer to the shore defences."

Sadek departed to relay the orders. A short time later, three SCUD missiles lifted from separate locations in the countryside and headed for the Midlonian navy, spread in such a pattern that moving to avoid one missile would mean direct impact from another.

Admiral Yteslav watched from a distance as the Mig-27s attacked the Midlonian planes. He walked over to the radio and sent a message to PRPM and Kanabia, "Greetings Comrades, need some help?"

Message from Hattian Aircraft to the Allied forces

"Red 1, this is Red 3, enemy fighters detected!"

"All allied forces, this is Wing Commander Shurygin of the Hattian Navy. The Mig-31s, torpedo bombers and the little red planes, the HASC-2s are ours. We are going to attack from above so watch out.

Onboard the submarine "Revolution"
"Torpedo in the water sir!!!"
"Evasive action!!! New course, 88 degrees, flank speed! Drop noisemaker decoys!"
The torpedo veered off towards the noisemaker, but upon passing it, veered back towards the Revolution, and detonated. Fortunately for the crew, the torpedo detonated before impact, and only minor hull breaches were reported. Nevertheless, they were severe enough that the sub was forced to surface, and was incapable of further combat action...except for one exception. Upon breaking the surface, the Revolution's Two SA-14 launchers fired upon the Midlonian helicopter hovering ahead ready to drop another torpedo. It was vapourised in a spectacular fireball.

All the other Kanabian subs survived, except for the "Noctis" Which took a direct hit and split in half, killing the crew instantly.

Meanwhile, in the skies above the Midlonian fleet, The Kanabian MiG-29s ripple fire their new AA-20 missiles at the Super-Flankers. Several are blown apart , but not before the Midlonians own AA-20's get through. Three MiGs are hit, two exploding instantly and the other hurtling towards the ocean streaming acrid black smoke. Major Nguyen breathed a sigh of relief when he glanced to his left and saw a chute. Nguyen then turned his thoughts to the missiles. "How could they..." He regained his composure quickly. "Close in, and let them have it with IR missiles" he ordered his men...."Phantom 5 and 6, cover those PRPM MiG-27's..2, 3 and 7, you're on my wing. The rest of you ready your anti-ship missiles!" Nguyen then noticed several missile blips on his radar, coming from the PRPM mainland. "Good," he thought... "With luck, a couple of those will hit...It looks like our cruise missiles softened them up a bit." Just then the Hattian Wing commander came through on the radio. "Glad to have you with us, comrades!" Nguyen spoke into the radio.

Colonel Johannsen looked out the cockpit window of his Backfire bomber. No resistance yet. But he was sure that they were within radar range. They would probably send fighters. No matter. He clicked the release button, and the payload of cruise missiles streaked off towards their preprogrammed targets...SAM sites, radar facilities and airbases. The pathway should be clear enough for nearly all of the Blackjack bombers to get through, he thought to himself.

It is escorted by a large number of smaller ships, and in turn is escorting two large amphibious landing ships, carrying the Kanabian Army armored shock unit, consisting of T-99 tanks, and BMP-3 and 4 APCs.

Colonel Johannsen looked out the cockpit window of his Backfire bomber. No resistance yet. But he was sure that they were within radar range. They would probably send fighters. No matter. He clicked the release button, and the payload of cruise missiles streaked off towards their preprogrammed targets...SAM sites, radar facilities and airbases. The pathway should be clear enough for nearly all of the Blackjack bombers to get through, he thought to himself.

OOC: Sorry for that. I've tried to be careful (note i let you evaluate your fleet damage, as i rightly should, for example) , but that one slipped through. Even so, its very unlikely the loss of that one plane/helicopter whatever we're assuming it to be will affect the end outcome (and hey dont complain, it knocked my sub out of action, one plane for crippling a sub is a fair trade). It doesnt really matter. Now if i said "My bombers have killed 20000 of your soldiers" Now that is cause to complain. And my planes aren't "precious backfires" they're somewhat expendable and thats why they went in first :) Also, the message that your admiral Ramsey is a renegade was sent to Hattia. And even if it was adressed to us, It would take several hours to break the chain of command (which is in a frenzy right now) and reach those bombers, and by then its too late. As it stands, my men in the theatre have no idea, but we'll assume that Hattia let our government know the situation.

"So they are intercepting us after all..." Said Colonel Johannsen to his copilot. "Good. It's all working very well." This is what his commanders predicted would happen. As the cruise missiles rained down upon the airbases, any interceptors on the ground should be blown away, or at least the facilities will be damaged and their effectiveness reduced. The MiGs in the air will most likely expend their missiles on the Backfire bombers, and to catch up with their vast speed, they will need to fly at full afterburner and consequently spend most of their fuel in the process. When the Blackjack bombers arrive, enemy aircraft are expected to either suicidally expend their last reserves of fuel to engage them, or break off and return to base. They could possibly even be on the ground attempting to refuel and rearm...a task which will likely be made difficult by the expected damage to the airbases. Johannsen turned his aircraft around and engaged its afterburners. The rest of his flight followed suit. They would meet up with a tanker aircraft and refuel midway.

Currently, the Blackjack flight and its escort of MiG-31 "Foxhound" interceptors are refuelling over the ocean, to give them sufficient fuel to reach the Midlonian coastline, and engage afterburners along the way if necessary. The Tanker itself is being escorted by another flight of MiG-31's.

the elias shuddered groaned and exploded, for the second time in it's history the Fiery Elias was sinking below the deep blue, the message to the other ships were ordered to raise white flags, underneath the Midlonian one, to show that they were at peace, and that they would not respnd to any attacks.... "Where the hell are they going?" asked President Ivanovich as he looked at the two retreating ships on his radar display. "Can we get some Frogfoots or Badgers in there to stop them?"

"Maybe, sir, but I don't know how much AA those ships have," replied Sadek. "About the surrender: Remel's ship, the Chimera is being loaded on the drydock now, and I think it would be best if he was delagate. We could chopper him in, along with a bodyguard."

"Yes. Forget the Badgers..." Boris trailed off. There was something wrong with Admiral Ramsey's actions that he couldn't quite place his finger on. He decided to bring it up with Sadek. "Admiral Ramsey was acting very... unpredictably out there. Usually, both countries try to refrain from firing the first shot in episodes like this, but he opened fire on our cruisers almost as quickly as he saw them behind him. Is it possible... no. He could never have made it to that rank if he took matters into his own hands like that." Could he? Nagging doubts took hold in the President's mind. "No matter. Send Admiral Remel to the peace talks, along with a picked bodyguard, just in case."

An Mi-24D Hind helicopter, loaded with Admiral Remel and seven highly trained special operations soldiers armed with OICW-Ns sped towards the largest of the Midlonian craft, escorted by a wing of Yak-38 Forgers.

OOC: Is Ramsey going to start his own country or something? Sounds pretty cool.

"This is Air General Huntingdale. Turn your aircraft around, and deactivate radar link to the cruise missiles."
"Sir?" Colonel Johannsen looked at his copilot in shock, who shrugged in equal puzzlement.
"Just do it!!" snapped the general.
Johannsen turned the aircraft around and flipped the appropriate switch. A radio code is sent out to the active cruise missiles, and their radars switch off. Without guidance, they fly on harmlessly.
Johannsen had no idea what to do now. He sighed and turned his plane around.
Just then another message came through on his radio from a pursuing MiG. "Kanabian bombers. Admiral Ramsey initiated this fight without guidance from our command staff. Cease attack."
Johannsen spoke back into the radio. "We already have orders to abort. Our missiles have been deactivated."

"Reports indicate that the Midlonian fleet has surrendered, and that the admiral in charge, Ramsey, was acting on his own authority. Consequently, i have ordered our bombers to abort their mission. Hattia advises us that a peace conference is to take place on their largest ship."
The Kanabian president sighed in relief. "I will go myself. Ready an aircraft."

"And advise the Midlonians that we consider Ramsey a war criminal and should be tried by their courts as such."

The jet carrying the Kanabian president arrived at a small airfield in the PRPM. He switched to a helicopter upon landing, and began the short journey towards the Midlonian ship. Along the way, he glanced out the window and saw the burning wreck of the Elias. He wondered how many had died on this day. He would get a casualty count later. For now, he had more important work to do...

The helicopter landed, and he stepped off immediately.

Admiral Yteslav addressed the sailors of the Opitz, "I can tell you are nervous. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Hattia follows the Geneva Convention very strictly. And since you are POWs, unless you try to rebel or something, we can't lay a hand on you. Once we get this all sorted out, you will be sent home immediately. So, you can go back to your quarters and relax, just think how much worse it would be if we were shooting at you."

We will be returning home, if you want some prisoners go find Ramsey, that is the basta** that started it all, go kill him..

The Admiral smiled, he then whispered something in his native language into his radio. He and his men began walking back to their ship, he turned around as he was walking across the plank, "Are you sure that you don't want to surrender, I could just as easily kill all of you." as he said this, the battleships massive guns rotated around and aimed at the nearby ship. "And I daresay, my fleet, and the others that will come could easily deal with any fleets those nations sent. The choice is up to you, death or surrender. I don't want to have to kill you, but standard operating procedures dictates, that those who haven't surrendered, are still hostile." and with that he walked back to his ship.

The Hind helicopter and the Forger VTOL aircraft turned in mid-air and returned to PRPM soil, landing at Airbase Alpha. From his bunker, the President demanded "What the hell is going on?!"

"It seems that they were only asking a ceasfire, not surrendering. Ramsey acted on his own authority, just as you suspected. He still commands those two fleeing ships." Sadek handed Kislev's message to the President.

The president paused a moment to consider his next move. If they say so... he thought with a grin. "Scramble the aircraft at Airbases Delta, Gamma, and Epsilon and the Berkut wing at Alpha. Let's see if we can catch those ships after all."

One wing of state-of-the-art Su-47 Berkut aircraft, armed with radar-seeking missiles, lifted from Airbase Alpha with orders to disable radar and SAM systems on the two ships. At the same time, three Tu-16 Badger bombers armed with the PRPM's newest model of laser-guided bombs lifted from three separate semi-concealed airbases, escorted by MiG-27s from the same bases, headed for Ramsey's two ships.

The Kanabian president stepped back on his helicopter, lamenting the waste of his time. "Issue an order for our assets to blast those two fleeing ships out of the water" he said to his accompanying general. "Yessir!"
