The PReG announced today in an effort to cut into the profit margins of the large infantry arms manufactuers and drive down the price of all small arms it will flood the market with $50 (usd) AK47M assault rifles dead reliable, fireing a hard hitting 7.62mm round why pay more for "modern" assault rifles like the xm8, m16a4 or other fancy weapons that sacrifice reliability and low cost for gadgets. a low cost ak will kill you just as dead (if not more so in the case of smaller caliber weapons like the xm8 and m16) as the significantly more xpensive weapons.

The PReG has introduced a new cartrige that gives the ak47 the capability to defete modern body armor like the us made intercepter vests. the princeple behind the new round is a harder bullet manufactured out of steel, as opposed to brass/lead, having slightly higher mass and less likely to deform, improving its armor piercing capabilities. This is matched with advanced in propelents a new higher powered chemical propelant (dirrived from our space program ) replaces smokeless powder providing MUCH higher muzzle velocities. Combine the 2 advances and you get a round capable of penetrating most armor systems
