Welcome to the Trade center for the Protectorate of the Deathseekers!

We here in the Portectorate are a proud and honorable folk that stake our honor on every weapon we sell. Honor is everything in our land and to give anything less than the best would be to shame us. We must therefore offer the services of out sword smiths to th outside world. (In limited supply of course, we are a small nation. )

We will HANDCRAFT every blade that you recieve. The steel is the finest in all of Rokugan, and our mastercraftsmen heve been plying their trade here in the Portectorate for nearly 1,000 years. All this tradition we offer to the descerning warrior (or small army).

All swords are custom made to order. If you would like to implement a theme please let us know. We will be happy to sutmoize you blade however you would like. (Providing it is within our technological capabilities, of course. We are a feudal nation ans unfortunately have no access to plasma and the like.)

OOC: Being somewhat of a bladesmith, a handmade katana blade, well they are not designed seperately, but that aside, the folded metal process when done by hand is considered ART, you should be charging thousands for handmade katanas if made in the traditional mode.
Also all katanas according to bushi tradition should custom made for the user.
Charge more brother.

An individual identifying herself as Silk inquires into an all-black katana, including black steel for the blade.
Daviestan
28-01-2004, 10:37
Do you just do Katanas? I am really after a matching sabre/rapier set, but I'd be willing to pay for a gold-hilted, white-bladed Katana with cruciformed pommel with the handle in the shape of a scroll sealed with my Official seal as well.
28-01-2004, 10:55
do you only produce katanas or do you make other types of swords the PReG is interested in sword similar in patern to the RL us marine oficiers sword for cerimonial use
28-01-2004, 11:28
OOC: Yeah, I surfed a bit on the web and found a shop. They are charging prices similar to what you stated, but I'm lazy and can easily explain the low cost with feudal forced labor. So, cheap swords for everyone!

To Silk: An all black katana is well within the realm of our possiblity. We would be honored to produce such a blade you, Silk. The price would be $575.

As to the request for sabre/rapiers: Our smiths have little experience making such blades and our craftsmanship would certainly suffer for it. We would sooner commit seppuku than produce inferior material.

To Daviestan: As I said unfortunately we cannot produce such weapons, but the katana will surely delight our smiths. Such an intracate design can only be entrusted to the most skilled smith, and the delivery will be delayed as such. The price would run in somewhere around $800, to be finalized when the blade is complete.

From Silk:

The price is acceptable. I will come in person to receive the katana upon completion. What is your preferred method of payment?
29-01-2004, 11:10
Excellent. The katana is complete, and ready for pick up. The preferred method of payment is in standard dollars (OOC: or whatever the international currency of Nationstates is. Is there even one?) It has been a pleasure doing business with you Silk-sama. We hipe you are pleased with your purchase. Please tell you associates.

The picture you have is not one of a katana. Its actuallya wakizashi or short sword. A samurai carries two swords, a katana and a wakizashi... The following is a real picture of a katana...

http://www.premiumknives.com/knifefiles/COLD_STEEL_Knives/Cold_Steel_Knives_88BK.jpg

And according to National Geographic, a newly made samurai sword can fetch up to US$35,000. Selling them for US$575 is very, very, very cheap for a katana. Its either very shoddy katanas or you're getting cheated...

A swordsmith is called a katankaji. They say, "A sword is a weapon first of all. If it is not sharp and can't cut, it is not beautiful." The sword is a "remnant of the samurai spirit, to protect family and home."

Anyways, General Rayus Noventa wishes to purchase twenty-four of your best katanas with their accompanying wakizashi for US$20,000 for each pair. A total of US$480,000 will be wired upon completion..
29-01-2004, 11:33
Yeah! I'll take 5 million katanas with specialised hilts please, my men are gonna love this!

750 million

Actually no, wakizashi is the western common word for shoto, which means 'short sword' it is a generic term, Katana is also a western misnomre' katana is the western common word for buke-zukuri or uchigatana and actually refers to the style of mounting or carrying both the shoto and daito(commonly refered to as katana). the sword he is displaying is more then likly a Hira Zukuri(rare in daito, so actually my bad it would be a wakizashi-more correct shoto).

We would like two identical swords, both 40 inches long with 27.5 inch blades. Please make the blades out of the toughest material possible, without losing that much sharpness.

We would like the handle to be wrapped in black and gold cord over a pattern, and the scabbard to be finished in black lacquer. We request that all hardware is high polished gold coloured, including a dragon for a hilt with wings. And we'd like the scabbard wrapped in black and gold lacing also.

We would also like a third sword of the same length and blade type. We request the handle to be casted and carved with dragon highlander style with a hard faced scabbard is made in jet high gloss black and features black hand tied design. We would like it trimmed in bronze finishes.

I'll sell you this 500-year old katana, for US$890,000... Remakes of this katana will cost only US$15,000.

General Rayus Noventa : We are young in the ways of the outside world. $575 is a fortune in koku (the currency of the Deathseekers), and you would say that that $20,000 is a fair price for our blades (this number is nearly beyone the grasp of our numbering system in koku) then we are honored by your honesy and hope that you are sufficiently pleased with the results. They should be ready in a few days.

CornixPes: Although you honor us by entrusting us with such a large project, we humbly must decline this offer. 5 million katanas is far more than we could hope to produce in many years time. We are a small nation, and cannot afford to devote so much resources into one project. So Sorry. *$750 million returned*

The Captain: Certanily, sir. These swords would be perhaps $30,000 for the first two and $28,000 for the second. Costs will be finalized when completed. Again, we must thank you for honoring us with your business.

The rhythmic galloping of the horse was soothing to her. Being out in the open country, away from the highly industrialized nations of the world, was a treat for her, and she enjoyed every moment of it. She pulled on the reins and the horse came to a stop. In the distance she could see the place where her blade was forged; where she was to get her new katana.

Silk doublechecked her baggage and made sure that her rifle was not exposed. No telling how these people would react to such a weapon. Once satisfied with its concealment, she stirred her horse onward that she may purchase her black sword.
31-01-2004, 07:19
Honorable Captain: You Katanas are ready for pickup. The final costs are $30,240 for the first 2 and $21,050 for the second. We hope that Third-san is pleased and that your council chambers are glorified by their presence.

We are currently on a research mission with the Nation of P4lladia to learn more about their "nanotechnology". Which according to thier scientists will add an almost magical property to our blades that would allow them to cut deeper through heavier armor than normal Katanas would be able. Kevlar and other "bulletproof" armors cannot withstand these "nanomachines" which eat through such metals. We do not fully understand this technonlgy, but our brightest scientists (that is the correct word, yes?) are in training as we speak.
