Nova Caledonia
27-01-2004, 12:12
Lieutenant Fiona Campbell, Nova Caledonia's first (and currently only) female military officer recieved the Caledonian Cross, the Empire's highest military honour from the Emperor himself during a ceremony earlier today.

Early last week, a terrorist group took Lady Annalise Skene, the Emperor's cousin hostage and threatened her murder unless the city of New Inverness was granted political independance from the Empire. Lt. Campbell and Sgt. David Conner, who were off duty at the time, where able to infiltrate Lady Skene's estate, and were able to dispatch the terrorists one by one. During a final confrontation against the terrorist leader Sgt. Conner was killed and Lt. Campbell seriously injured. Despite her wounds, Lt. Campbell was able to subdue the terrorist and rescue Lady Skene.

Lt. Campbell's wounds are said to be serious, but non-fatal and she is expected to return to duty within a month. In addition to recieving the Caledonian Cross, Lt. Campbell has also been given command of the 1st/2nd Platoon of the Elite "Princess Kendra's Caledonian Light Infantry"

Sgt. Conner has also recieved the cross posthumously, and Lady Skene has gifted his family with 10 million moxes from her personal funds for his heroic sacrifice.

The terrorist leader, who's name has not been released is currently undergoing interrogation by CISA, and it is rumoured that the Emperor himself will execute him, though this speculation has neither been confirmed nor denied by government spokesmen.
