Dominion Fleet Moves Against Danmarc!

The Anastambrian Scoop Services has learned a major naval movement is occuring between two of Anastamber's new neighbors. The Brownie Troop 948 MEU(SOC) and the Idi Amin Carrier Battle Group are moving to blockade and perhaps engage in hostilities with Danmarcian forces in the strait between Danmarc and Haverton. The opening of hostilities grew from a remark made by the Danmarcian ambassador during a formal reception where the word 'evil' was used outside the context of the overlord, a capital offense in the Dominion. While ambassadors are usually granted extraterritoriality and are exempt from the penal code of their host countries the government organized spontanious student protest grew slightly out of hand after breaching the walls of the Danmarcian embassy. According to sources in the government, the Holy Empire has extended its condolences on the death of the Danmarcian ambassador and his staff, and suggests the Danmarcian Diplomatic Corp use slightly less powerful paper shredders in the future.

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! The voice response alert system kept repeating as troops scrambled in Danmarc military facilities. The perimiter defense system sure seemed to be working, as satelites and infrared systems picked up a fleet of ships within 200 miles of Danmarc waters, in an attack formation.

"Get Wetworks on the line, ready the forces" Defense Minister Warner yelled as he walked by the sonar station, showing the immediate coastline as still clear. "I want our new fleet to get a little work here, send in the Pirate fleet.

((OOC: The Pirate fleet refers to the 6 battleships purchased from Pirate nations that actually have steel "pirate sails" on the ship. This is soley for asthetic purposes, but 6 fully loaded pirate battleships are an amazing sight.))

"Wetworks here.." The voice on the other end of the line was screaming at this point, barely tolerable.

"Yes sir..We have the subs loaded, already on their way. The border patrol ships are out at the 15 mile range watching things over, and the fleet is getting ready for action. We will check back as we hear from the fleet."

At this point the Danmarc fleet approaching the Evil Overlord fleet consists of 15 attack subs, 6 battleships(pirate style), 12 destroyers, 1 Carrier, and 6 missile ships.

Exact specs will be given later.

It is with great respect that Danmarc will decline the offers of the 2 recent posting nations to engage in this battle. This will be handled swiftly and dutifully by the Danmarc Armada.

Keeping an eye on the scene is not only global positioning systems, but an AWACS well overhead, reporting every movement. It appears the Evil Overlord awaits Danmarc's Armada just off the coast of Haverton. The Danmarc Wetworks subs circle under the sea to get better positioning and check all weapons. The "pirate" fleet spread accordingly, and have turned formed an effective attack position spaced with destroyers and missile ships.

Also,

F-18's are being loaded onto the flight deck of the Danmarc carrier, which has taken a semi-quiet position out of the range of most Overlord weaponry for now, (hoping it stays that way).

Both parties seem to be waiting for the other to react.

The Victoria Salvadorian defence forces had of course tracked the Dominion vessels as they sailed by the nation's waters.

Sumer was not happy to have received no forewarning of this movement from the overlord or his minions. Conservative Royalist leader Lord Howard Drumble had actually backed a lobby in the MoD for pre-emptive strikes against the force which by its silence, composition, and course had been assumed hostile. Exocet-laden Mirage had once been scrambled in preparation for such, and had only been stood-down at the last minute.

Now RVSAF Nimrod flying from Salvador were tasked with carrying out detailed and constant observation of the fleets massing to the north. It certainly wasn't hard to keep track of the absurd steel-sailed battleships that Sumer gathered were lining up to meet the Dominion fleet.

In Sumer Defence Minister Percy Lombard met with PM Sir William Duncan and HM King Llewellyn to discuss the strange goings on off the nation's coast.

It was Lombard's contention that Danmarc clearly meant to face the Dominion force, and that the fact of their waiting until this late stage meant that Danmarc had chosen the location for some specific reason. Danmarc could after all have contacted other nations such as V&S at any time during the Dominion's sailing had they fear themselves target of an attack. They would in such a case have been likely to find assistance in New Tiamat's more powerful nations, Beth Gellert, Victoria and Salvador, and Haverton- all well positioned to intercept the Dominion fleet and more than capable of dismantling the forces of any other regional neighbour.

Now why was the meeting to occur here? Probably Danmarc hoped to involve shore-based aircraft or missiles, and it looked as if the Dominion must hope to invade Danmarc's home islands. This still didn't explain the mysterious silence, and Salvador was concerned.

Duncan contacted the Beth Gellen ambassador in search of information from the region's super-power.

"Wetworks....get in there....Code Blue, code blue."

By this time the Danmarc fleet was a mere 30 Miles from the Haverton Coast, having all but cornered the Dominon fleet.

"All units engage, engage"

Missile batteries opened with a roar as cruise missile after cruise missile left the missile ships. Miles ahead Danmarc submarines also unloaded, with Cruise missiles also their weapon of choice. However, this is where the tide turned..... Missile after missile flew over the top of the Dominion fleet, not targeted at The Evil Overlord at all, but at the coastal cities of Haverton. It appears a joint-attack was in the works, with the element of surprise at hand.

One after another missiles left the ships and subs, all for various port cities and their naval bases. Spotlights flicked on and off in unison on top the ships as a signal to the Dominion fleet. Then big brother began.

BOOM, BOOM.....BOOM. The guns from the pirate fleet erupted, one after another, searching out any Haverton targets that dare stand in their way. This appeared to be an all out invasion...

"Wetworks here....bring in the fleet, lets destroy these goon." The signal was made, roughly a half day behind the Danmarc initial attacking group the call was picked up. 25 missile ships lie full speed ahead.

And so it had begun....

The Danmarc Armada battleships continue to fire at any and all targets crossing their paths. Naval ports are seemingly primary targets, as cruise missiles fly over the rough waters, targets locked. Surely the element of surprise in the attack caught the Haverton somewhat offguard. The sound and sight of incoming missiles will surely wake the Havertonians on this fine day. Spreading the submarine units out somewhat, Danmarc Wetworks forces are homing in on any opposing ships or subs in the area, looking for even more victims.

"Destroy..........Destroy...........take no prisoners!!!!!!"

The steel sails of the Danmarc Pirate ships glimmer in the sun as they continue the assault. This unconventional force is seeming quite effective on an unsuspecting Haverton coastline.

They finally silenced the klaxons by the simple expedient of tearing the speakers out of the wall.

"Prepare all missles, lock targets, prepare to fire on my command."

The Abydosian commander had held out against the drugs for some time. Fortunately the engineering department had provided the tools needed to break her and gain the codes needed to unlock the hell weapons of the Abydosians.

"Hmmm, I should reward her for her bravery, even if she is an infidel...," the Dominion Marine Commander's face grew a small grin. "I'll let her lead the attack on the Havertons."

The missle gleamed sterile, cold, lifeless. Strapped to the nosecone, on her stomach, the Abydosian commander was spread-eagled in an almost loving obscene embrace, attached with epoxy and malace. The missle bay doors began a slow creep open.

"Missle coordinates locked sir."
"Prepare to fire tube 3, followed by the nukes, then chem, then bio."

The Abydosian looked painfully over the remnants of her shoulder. The Dominion troops had strapped an airmask over her face and her one good eye could make out the beautiful curve of Earth as the chill of space dimpled her mostly naked skin. She felt the growing momentum which indicated the missle must have been fired, but it all seemed unimportant. She was going home; God, how she had always hated space.

High in the sky over Haverton, the nuclear missle exploded. The height was carefully calculated to create no fireball, no shockwave, just a HUGE EMP pulse which put all unhardened electrical systems on *BURBLE*.

"If I have a superweapon, I will not keep it in reserve, but I will use it as early and often as possible," the Dominion commander muttered under his breath, the closest thing to a prayer he could come up with. He was a hard man in a hard profession from a hard country, but even he felt a twinge of conscience for what he was about to do. "Fire."

The Abydosian Weapons Platform flared like a new star as the series of missles left their silos and streaked toward the planet below. With the air defense systems either incapacitated or at least temporarily blinded by the EMP pulse, Haverton had few remaining options. The capital city, Columbus, was the target of a dozen nuclear missles, vaporizing in the supernova heat. The chemical and biological missles were more scattered, striking large and medium civilian cities. Troop concentrations were avoided because of the knowledge they would have effective countermeasures and the casualty count would be low. Instead the goal was to create as much terror and chaos as possible, breaking the back of the Haverton people and their ability to sustain a military conflict by depriving the country of the population needed for farming and industry.

In a room in his palace, monitoring the death and destruction beamed to Earth from pirated Danmarcian satellite signals, the Very Evil Overlord ordered more popcorn as he watched the show.

OOC: Until an explanation is given for the dozen nukes, that attack will be ignored. Tell me how an nation of about 100 million could get 12 nukes and I'll believe. Of course, we have anti-EMP weaponry, so don't think an EMP barrage might always work.

With the Space Weapon Platform destroyed, Haverton must rely on the Imperial Star spy satellite. The 1st, 5th, and 8th Fleets, only 5 miles from the enemy fleet, is moving towards them to smash the much smaller joint fleet. The ports of Brunswick and Jekyll Island have been bombarded, and 60% of facilities are damaged or destroyed. Though the main invasion fleet was diverted, the numerous carrier and submarine groups still steam forward. Meanwhile, the massive invasion force continues to press onwards. A large fleet of transports and their escorts will arrive at around the time the army arrives at the coastline separating them from Danmarc. As soon as the attacking fleet is smashed to bits, the three fleets will then press onward, preparing to blockade the islands of Danmarc. The chemical and bio missiles, streaking forward towards the smaller cities of Macon, Atlanta, Valdosta and Augusta were met with Patriot anti-missile missiles. Alerts were given, and citizens were ordered to put on gas masks and get inside. Any missiles hitting the cities caused few casualties, mainly the elderly.

((OOC: Why, I stole them from Abydos, of course! I chose 12 because it was a nice dramatic number; if you want to downgrade it to between 2-6, hey I'm fine with that. Whatever makes good gaming. In case it comes up, TVEO has more on it's space station, both those manufactured locally and others we purchased from Anastamber [the post is floating around somewhere.]
((There really is no 'anti-EMP' weapon. An electromagnetic pulse of the power we're looking at would fry any electrical system that wasn't seriously hardened to protect it. Anything with a sensor array would be extremely vunerable because those systems are designed to imput energy in some form, be it electronic, thermal, or really anything other than sonar. Even your city electrical grids would go down, like the big blackout of the NE U.S. several months ago. I do wonder how effective a Patriot missle would be given their tracking systems would be kaput and hitting an incoming ballistic missile is almost impossible, as the 'Star Wars' system tests have consistently shown. How about a compromise? Grant me 2 major cities as scenes of major disaster and I'll say between your successful SAM defense and Dominion unfamiliarity [perhaps even because the Abydosian commander sabotaged the codes] most of the rest went off target into unimportant areas and casualties for those that did hit were relatively light.)

"Onward to Victory!" clamoured the Danmarc admiral watching the water battle unfold in front of him. Targets are being destroyed in the Haverton coastal cities, and sonar and radar are picking up a huge Haverton fleet approaching quickly.

"Onward to victory!!!" The fleet commander shouted, as he watched the naval war continue.

Not only did the bombardment of the Haverton coastline continue, but the 2nd fleet of Danmarc ships were arriving, with their allied ships not far behind.

Wetworks submarines were gathering to engage the Haverton forces quickly approaching.

"get the air units going.." radioed the commander. Within minutes jet engines were starting one after another on the deck of Danmarc's nuclear carrier in the immediate area.

"Keep wetworks ready to engage. This is going to be one helluva fight."

At this point, apart from one misqued blast due to mishandling on the deck of a destroyer, no injuries had been reported to the fleet. No real resistance had met the navy to this point.

"Ready boarding parties, check on the other troops. Somebody make sure Chemical suits are ready."

((OOC: The following is a post I received in a telegram from a contracted JUKO special ops team))

It was about ten pm and the sun in Haverton had just gone down. The Nighthawk helicopter hovered quietly outside the bay. The mission was destroy as many Haverton Naval Ships as possible by twelve o’ clock. First Lieutenant Davis knew that the silent destruction of the small patrol boats and cruisers would be easy enough, but aircraft carries were completely different. The winding corridors, endless passages…he thought that a couple of blocks of C-4 couldn’t possibly do the job. But this was what he had been ordered to do, he had heard rumor that this was actually a mercenary job…he had no idea, they just told him who to kill not why. These were Davis’s thoughts as he jumped off the Nighthawk and began to swim towards the first naval cruiser; they would not however be his last.

OOC: Successful insertion of Ehrenlegion Special Ops Soldiers has occurred. The mission is to rig as many ships as possible with C-4 before the team is detected. The team will then proceed to Juko HQ and await further instruction.

The water played gently on his face as Lieutenant Davis swam silently towards the first of the navy vessels. All had gone according to plan thus far. None had been alerted to their presence and none had seen their successful insertion.
As Davis swam towards the hull of the ship, a large Tomahawk Missile Cruiser, Davis began to go over his orders in his head. “Get on board the ship, eliminate all hostiles that are an immediate danger, and for the love of God do it silently!”, exclaimed his Colonel. “Plant the C-4 in the engine room and move onto the next ship.” Easier said than done, Davis thought…
The suction cups he had been issued made the scaling of the ships hull relatively easy. As he climbed over the lee side railing he noticed one of the patrol guards walking ahead of him, completely turned around and completely oblivious to Davis’s presence. The guard, from what Davis gathered was a mere patrolman, no combat skill whatsoever and probably couldn’t use the 9mm he had holstered on his belt. Davis noticed the gun sat more towards the guard’s back, good Davis thought; he won’t get a chance to use the loud thing. Davis moved silently towards the guard, an aquatic black cat stalking the little mouse in white and black Navy uniform. The lieutenant unsheathed the massive knife he had been issued; he was the best in his class with knifing. He slashed the hamstring of the guard, causing him to fall to the ground, before he could even utter a cry but just as the guard struck the ground Davis had already stabbed him twice in the chest with the knife, once in the abdomen and once in the heart; to ensure a quick and silent death. He motioned for the rest of his team to move onto the ship. So there they sat, the seven Special Ops. Soldiers crouching on a foreign ship, in a foreign nation, killing foreign men just to earn his nation a couple extra munz’s. But that’s what he had signed up for…and that’s what he was going to do.

OOC: Mission success! 16 Haverton ships have been destroyed or left immobile, and have killed at least 80 guards. Only 10 ships were planted with the charges but upon detonation a chain reaction occurred, causing 5 other ships to go down and severely damaging the sixth.
Report;
4- Aegis Class Tomahawk Missile Cruisers destroyed
4-Aeigis Class Anti-Submarine/Depth Charge Cruisers destroyed
5- Aegis Class Patrol Boats destroyed
1-Merchant Marine Boat with munitions aboard destroyed
1-Haverton Class Aircraft Carrier, King Charles III, rendered immobile-its survival over the night is very doubtful.
Special Operations troops have reached Juko HQ, further destruction of Haverton military targets imminent. S.E.A.L troops will be extracted and the Elite group Foxtrot Romeo shall be inserted in their place, they however will not move from Juko HQ until the nation of Ehrenlegion has received further payment.

OOC: I've been busy, so I haven't gotten a chance to post much.

The two port cities of Brunswick and Jekyll Island had been incapitated of almost all port activities, with neary 95% damage to the military docks, 76% done to the commercial port, 98% damage to the repair facilities, and 47% damage to the civilian marina. The 1st, 3rd, and 5th fleets finally arrived at the scene of the attack, ready to thrash the bombardmant fleet. 10 Titan Class battleships, equipped with SAM batteries, 16 batteries, 12 105mm 3 gun batteries, 4 150mm 3 gun batteries opened fire about 3 miles from the battle, raining shells upon the enemy. 7 miles from the battle, 25 Royal Rocket Artillery Ships, each equipped with two batteries each carrying 12 rockets each about 13 ft long. Closer, the 16 Ultima class attack submarines each equipped with 4 21 inch torpedo tubes. 30 Imperial Cruisers and Frigates each equipped with 6 76mm 3 cannon batteries and 2 30mm cannons equipped on stern and bow. These are also equipped with ASW arms. This large fleet immediatly engaged the enemy fleet and are taking few casualties. So far, 21 people are confirmed dead, 43 injured, and one cruiser is damaged.

((OOC: Haverton, your call: Are you interested in making an OOC post that covers both the naval battle page and the air/land/other battle pages we have going. Great damage post by the way))

"We are taking heavy fire, we are taking heavy fire!! Over" The Haverton Navy approaching, most ships still several miles away, had begun bombardment of the coalition ships.

Danmarc has not given a death toll at this point, but estimates are that 2 destroyers have been capsized, and the battleships have taken sizeable damage by way of missile/rocket attacks. Danmarc has now concentrated fire back on the Haverton ships, turning full submarine attacks torpedoing the Haverton missile ships. This is by far the bloodiest fighting we have seen since the start of this battle, and by the size of the two fleets, it will not get much better quickly.

In other news, Red cross copters have reportedly been in rescue of Haverton and Danmarc crews both from sinking/capsized ships. More news as it comes in.

OOC: My apologies to the nation of Haverton, I was completely aware of godmodding rules. I was under the impression that the mission I was charged with was just a mission between mysefl and Danamarc. I am good RP and if I had been made aware that Haverton was to know about the whole operation I would not have placed any casualties etc. etc. Again my apologies to both Haverton for the mistake, and Danmarc for the troubles.

***This just in........This just in***

Danmarc authorities have given an official count on those fallen in the battle with Haverton. As of this morning, 849 bodies have been recovered, as well as 650 wounded, most coming from the 2 capsized Danmarc destroyers. Red Cross officials have not given an update on Haverton forces, but have confirmed they are still working with both parties, as well as other nations in the area, to give medical aid to all involved.

Danmarc forces were rapidly working this morning to repair a large hole in one of its 6 "Pirateship style" battleships. The large steel mock-sail was reportedly uprooted, toppling off the ship after taking a direct hit from an opposing missile. Reports are this damage is above the waterline, so the ship has not yet begun taking on water. However, this is a sizeable hole, appearing from a spectators view to have done major, repeating...major damage to the ship. Danmarc forces continued to engage the Haverton forces, with the help of two allied fleets. More Danmarc ships were seen this morning in the distance approaching, what appears to be more destroyers and several more cargo ships, which have a pretty straight shot to the Haverton coastline.

More news as it comes in.

The catapults on the Idi Amin were busy.

After having sat out the initial rounds of combat between the Danmarcians and the Havertonians, the time to strike had arrived. Joined by a strike force from the Ronald Reagan, and preceded by a pack of Wild Weasel F-4 Phantoms, the 45 Mig-29’s each carried two Exocet antiship missiles. With the fleet concentrating on suppressing the Danmarcian shore defenses, the planes were able to get marginally closer than usual. Popping up and acquiring targets, the Exocets winged away to spread their death among the Havertonian sailors.
