TKOTM Announces Development of Multi-purpose Infantry Visor

23-01-2004, 07:17
The Kingdom of the Midlands would announce the development of Project Omniscient, a visual Battlefield Information Relaying and Detection System.

In this announcement, we hope to attract potential investors, as well as briefly outline the planned capabilties of the said devices.

We currently are planning to mount the system on a visor (Not the hat type), using LCD technologies to convey the information recieved in a visual form. This system is power-efficient, as well as mobile, compact, and relatively inexpensive. The currently planned features include, but are not limited to the following:

1. A Satelite/Command Center Uplink- That is, information could be exchanged with Satelites, Command Centers, and even other friendly troops within the area. Using this information, the visor would then display the movement of enemy troops, friendly forces, objectives, etc. on the soldier's screen. (Think Natural Selection)

2. Nightvision - Allowing military operations in the dark of the night, without bulky nightvision binoculars.

3. Heat Detection - Using heat to produce an image allows for clear identification of enemies in cold and/or dark environments.

3. Image Resolution Enhancement - Or simply put, magnification.

4. Millimeter Wave Detector - This is one of the revolutionary technologies we hope to include. By emitting and absorbing electromagnetic radiation at the millimeter wavelength, this allows the detection of metal components. Invaluable in locating enemy armor, as well as determining whether an enemy is armed.

5. Comlink - Teamwork is vital to the success of an operation. That is why troops must communicate - and by incorporating a Comlink, communication becomes much more efficient and easier. This component will be mounted on the soldier's helmet.

This project is currently being conducted by my region, but outside donations/support are also welcomed. After development has completed, we may offer this for sale to other nations.

Hmm... We are willing to support this and wish to make an initial contribution of 1.5 billion USD with other possible contributions in the future. We can also send scientists who excel in uplink technology or liquid crystal display fittings and screen systems.

The only thing we ask, is production rights for the visor when it is completed.

Soviet Bloc - We'll have to consider your proposal. Originally, we planned to sell them, but keep production rights to allies only...
24-01-2004, 04:17
Soviet Bloc - I propose a compromise. After we finish development, we'll transfer the plans and give you production rights - with one restriction: You may not sell or otherwise make a profit off these, or distribute them to third-parties without our explicit consent.

Development is coming along nicely - if outsiders wish to buy our future product, they'll have to integrate the visors into their own grid, since each one is different...

Soviet Bloc - A response?

Posting as Chinese Army:

We would like to contribute $3 billion USD to this project and ask for production rights in return. This project, we believe, will help our ground forces tremendously.

I've got to know what's going on in my region.

We agree with those terms and we will donate another $500 million USD to speed the development of this project.

Rantheea Defense Systems, in conjunction with the Juumanistran Ministry of Defense, is willing to contribute $750 million USD to this admirable project. We believe that it could be of great use to our forces once it is available for export.

All donations and contributions are graciously accepted. Thank you for the support. Right now, we are currently working to compact the equipment into a smaller size, among other electronics work. Field-testing should be available soon...

We would like to invest in these as well.

Please accept $5 billion as payment for the production rights after your research is done.

Agreed, if you abide to the same conditions we laid out for Soviet Bloc.

Done and done.

Thank you all for your contributions - we have begun the small scale production of these visors and field testing. We expect to make minor adjustments and refinements. Soon, we will be able to mass-manufacture.
13-02-2004, 05:33
Once again, thank you all for your contributions - today, the final version of the visors have entered mass production, and they will soon be distributed to our infantry forces.

To all those who contributed, the blueprints have been wired to you. Please check your telegrams.

Thank you very much. We have received your blueprints and are beginning construction.

If any future projects require investment, we would be more than happy to help.

So far, in recent domestic trials, the visors have performed admirably. As it stands, we have already outfitted 17000 of our infantry with the system, and we plan to outfit at least another 33000 more before making it standard for all infantry units.

Congratulations on a magnificently produced system.

We are pleased to hear that our system is worked well, and our engineers on the project wish to receive some suggestions on how to improve it.

As of now, 8 of our veteran infantry divisions have been out-fitted with the visors, and we plan to continue equiping them until our entire army is able to utilize them.

As of now, every combat element within the ARSB's military has been issued one of these visors, including parachute assault forces and special forces. The visors were recently combat tested in the takeover of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, and performed superbly, allowing Soviet Bloc soldiers to effectively 'see' and eliminate terrorist threats well beyond visual range. The visor also played a distinct role when our airborne assault regiments landed in Azerbaijan, with minimal movement and action, they were able to disarm a group of waiting rebels, this was accomplished by using the millimetric radar to detect the metal in their helmets and weapons, including their tanks.

Also, what is your name or designation for this visor?

The official designation is the Joint Infantry Information Relay and Surveilance System - we are glad that our product is performing to your standards.
