Scammell MK 10 Firefighting Foam
The Scammel 300 kW (400 bhp) Mk10 4 x 4 has a rear engined chassis on which is mounted a specialist fire fighting top hamper. It has a central driving position and is operated by a crew of one/two or four. Its 4 x 4 drive makes it suitable for rough terrain and cross-country use. The Mk10 carries 2730 litres (600 gallons) of water, 360 litres (80 gallons) of class B foam compound (in separate tanks), and 100 Kg of Halon (BCF). The Mk 10 is fitted with a Godiver Mk10, Centrifugal UFP two stage pump supplying all delivery points, the first low pressure high volume stage, supplies the roof monitor and side lines; the second, high pressure low volume stage, supplies the first aid hose reel (water only). This is 36.6 metres (120 feet) of ¾ inch bore hose, terminating in an Akron Marauder branch mounted in the off-side rear locker. A forward facing roof-mounted monitor delivers either 680 litres (150 gallons) or 1360 litres (300 gallons) per minute via an output rate selector control. The discharge duration is either 4.5 minutes at 680 litres/minute, or 2.25 minutes at 1360 litres/minute respectively. The monitor has a jet range throw of 49 metres (160 feet), at high output in still air, 34 meters (110 feet), at low output in still air. It can lay a carpet of foam in front of the vehicle of 9 metres (30 feet) wide at high output, and 7 metres (24 feet) wide at low output. Foam can be produced stationary, or on the move. There are two hand operated side lines connected to delivery points on the left and right hand control panels, each capable of delivering 225 litres (50 gallons) per minute.
