"In what critics called a Continuation of the 2nd General Republic, the Army and Naval Leaders who formed the bulk of the Provisional Board of Regents of State, which took over after the coup that ended the Elizabethshire/Cayan Allies war, handed over power back to a Transitional Civilian government.
Following the form of the 1st and 2nd General Republic, There will be a Six Hundred Seat Lower house called the House of Representives, a One hundred Man Senate and a Fifteen man State Council, which critics say will actually do as the old governments have done and rule the state. Under Elizabethshire Basic Law, the State Council is the final stop for all lower houses legislation and has authority to act without the approval of the lower houses for a total period of three months.
The Party of National pride, the sole party which backed the Military Coup, blasted the decision to allow representives from the Socialist Party (Left) , Nationalist Party (Right), and the Party of National Unity (Center) to resume reigns of the government.
The Third General Republic's main diffrence is that the Newly Created Board of Field Marshals, Commanding Generals, and Fleet Admirals have the authority to suspend Civilian government at any time for a total period of 72 hours now.
Major Arthur Davidson (Party of National Pride, Center-Right) explained it this way.
"The 3rd General Republic lies upon quicksand. The only thing that is holding the nation on stability is hatred. Hatered of Belem, of Cayo, of all of the other nations that intervened. The Military killed Socialist Party activists in the Cayan War Revolt, and violently suppressed the entire Extreme Right and Left during the coup. And the Centerist Party of National Unity refuses to work with us because of our illegal actions. The third General Republic will falter in the midst of gunfire. We cannot afford to have a full blown war on our sacred soil"
