Technological level is around 2061: odyssey three level. In other words, about 2100-2200.
1. FIGHTERS:
The backbone of any space military is usually it's small, manueverable fast vehicles, usually known as fighters. Fighters are designed to dominate the battlespace. They are fast, small, manuevarable, and heavily armed. Because of their small size, they have limited endurance, and are usually best suited to short range operations on the battlespace unless they are supported by tankers.
a. F-2 Mars:
The F-2 Mars is a basic, light space fighter, perfect for the emerging space nation. Due to it's relatively small size (about 40 meters in length) it is relatively cheap. The F-2 Mars is designed as a general purpouse fighter/attack spacecraft. As such, it is fast and agile. It's twin fusor rocket engines allow it to travel at speeds of up to 2000 km/s for periods of up to 15 minutes. However, crusing speed is typically lower--around 500 km/s. The F-2 is missile/laser armed, reflecting it's antiship role. Armament is a single 502 mw laser cannon, complemented by a battery of M24 Puffin antiship missiles. The F-2 Mars is best suited to lightning raids...namely, charging at top speed through the enemy defences, firing off the Puffins and the cannon, then getting the hell out at top speed.
Price: $24,000,000. (Mass production techniques)
b: F-32 Stryker:
The Stryker is a good complement to the Mars. It is longer and heavier, and designed for more long range combat. Performance is similar to the Mars. The Stryker's armament is nuclear tipped long range missiles. These are powerful enough to blow away a significant fraction of a small moon--just think of what it would do to a space colonhy! However, keep it out of close combat. Don't ask why, just keep it out.
Price: $50,000,000.
