Mintar tests new Spark missile

NIM (News In Mintar):

The plane manuevered silently overhead, meandering almost lazily as if it was taking its time.

The firing of the missile did little to break the quiet; just a faint noise coming from the air above the assembled crowd of military personel and journalists.

The crowd seemed to hold its breath as the missile flew closer and closer to the drone, and then let it out as they deduced that the missile would fly past. But with a simple touch from the pilot, the missile exploded, creating a huge blast that turned the drone into so many pieces of shrapnel that fell harmlessly into the water.

Reporter: Mintar's government has just tested its first so-called "Spark" missile. It is an anti-air missile with ordinance equal to that of the bunker-busters usually dropped on ground targets. So far, the military has not stated its need for developing this missile, despite orders to have thousands of them produced quickly for use.

Military Officer (being interviewed): The Spark missile is just another part of our growing arsenal in these times of need. There was no specific...

Reporter: Vagueness regarding the creation and use of the Spark missiles among military and government officials has prompted many questions news outlets and other groups, but the military has declined to comment further. And now for the weather it's back to you, Sam...

(OOC: Basically, we just took a GBU-28, made it lighter, and had it target things in the air. These missiles are, obviously, just for use against gravships and so while they may or may not be realistic, they are certainly more so than the gravships themselves. Basic specs are below.

Spark-1A is an air launched missile, fitted for the Phoenix III and Hellion planes, although with modifications (to the plane or missile) it can be fitted to other planes. It is usually a heat-seaking missile, although it can be refitted to be laser-guided. The missile is not made to be particularly manuverable, although it is not particularly susceptible to anti-missiles, either.

Basic stats:

Ordinance: Similar to the GBU-28 E (very powerful BB, can go through 20 feet of concrete "like butter")
Weight: Around 1,000 lbs.
Range: 50 km = 31 miles
Speed: 1700 mph ~ Mach 2

The Spark-1B is similar to the Spark-1A except that it is fired from ground or sea, thus giving it a range of about 100 km = 62 miles.)
