Tempers flared in the Senate of Nopoofs over the issue of deciding what to do about the series of vicious and unprovoked insults the Government of The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint has been hurling at the Government and peoples of Nopoofs.

General Bloodandgutz advocated. "We must take severe and immediate action against this Government of upstarts. I say that we invade and take over half their country. That will make them think twice before they go around stupidly insulting other nations. Invade NOW I say."

Air Marshall Bombemall agreed with the General. "I agree with the brave and accomplished General Bloodandgutz. My elite forces of Bomber Command can easily blitz the blighters back to the stone age. If it's a fight they want, then my crack squadrons will give them one and more!"

Senator Appeasing Liberal tried vainly to diffuse the growing tensions. "They haven't insulted us for a couple of days, perhaps they might yet applogise!" Members from all sides of the Senate jeered until he fell silent.

A junior Minister for the Office of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has just issued the following announcement.
"it is with great regret and sadness that I must make the following announcement. A little over an hour ago the Government of The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint was very politely and civily asked if they would care to make a token appology for the unneccessarily mean and totally vicious verbal attacks against the inoffensive and kindly peoples of The republic of Nopoofs.

I am sorry to report that they refused to do so and were again mean and nasty. Once more throwing a slap in the face of the good people of the Republic of Nopoofs, spitting upon the kind and generous nature of the people. Once more grinding their feelings and dignity into the ground.

Such brutes of people cannot be reasoned with and they must be condemned by all decent governments. In this spirit the Government of the Republic of Nopoofs have extended the hand of friendship and forgiveness and given them a further 36 hours to do the decent thing and spare the hurt and indignity they have caused to the common, decent, inoffensive and hardworking peoples of Nopoofs and to appologise to them.

I want proof they have been insulting you and more proof then just that! If you cant give me proof enough and launch an attack on Greenspoint then it shall be retalliated by the force of Svalvard. We want evidence before you declare war. You have been given a warning an attack without proof will only give the defenders my allegiance. That is something you wont want since im much larger then you.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Government of the Republic of Nopoofs issues the following statement to the Government of Svalvard;

Your threat of aggression is neither just, appropriate or welcomed. It is not for an Imperialistic, warmongering and Fascist Government like Svalvard to make such blatant and unprovoked threats.

We insist that Svalvard withdraws it's vicious remarks and appologises. Such a callous statement, is stupid and only strengthens the Rogue Nation of Greenspoints callous resolve and does nothing to further diplomatic efforts.

A Minister fron the ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued another statement;
"We have received yet another communication from the warmongering state of the Rogue Nation of Greenspoint. They have chosen to launch yet another, unprovoked and scathing verbal attack upon us. It is by now transparently obvious that they are eager to provoke hostilities. They are actively engaging in inciting other countries and Regions to engage against us. They are now threatening us with the might of 193 nations.

We are saddened that a few nations exist whose only agenda would appear to be to cause trouble and distress to nations that they deem to be 'soft targets'. We shall never give in to oppression and our citizens are determined to battle and defend our nation to the last".

I agree with Svalvard. Should Nopoofs attack without giving evidence, Tayricht will fight against this angry country. And as a young nation, it would be extremely unwise to engage in such warfare.

The Federal Senate has decreed this as an unprovoked and unsubstaintiated act of aggression on the part of the government of Noproofs. The Diplomatic Corps has issued the official statement decrying the act, wars started over such petty things as national honor over someone elses' mind are for no reason and result in many deaths, they have pointed to the 1st World War, the 2nd Tortugan War, the 3rd Tortugan War, and the Imperial Canadian Wars as some blatant examples of this.

The Senate has also authorized the Diplomatic Corps to make overtures to the Government of Svalvard for means to solidify a defensive pact with that government and Greenspoint that should either be attacked by Nopoofs without a convincing argument (i.e. proof that he is threatening your national soveriegnty) that all 3 nations would send forces to thrust back any invasion.

The Federal Senate has reaffirmed it's stance on the situation, that without some kind of proof that the nation of Greenspoint has offended you in such a severe way that you would sacrifice the lives of your soldiers (and this is from an economists point of view, no morality involved) that took time to train and equip, and the costs of invading this country, not to mention the aftermath, we don't see you as a nation that can be entrusted to not act in a brash way on the international stage.

We are a reasonable nation that does not interfere in the affairs of most wars, but in such a scenario where absolutely no proof has been shown, we cannot stand to do not but act. Since we do not believe any nation will actually follow through with Noproof if he shows no proof unless they are preparing for to attack anyway, we have not issued mobilization orders to our Reserve Corps however we have begun to re-shift our Naval fleets in certain ports, and sped up the re-vamping of Port Royal Naval Commands defenses.

The Government and people of the Republic of Nopoofs are grateful to the esteemed government and people of Pantera. However, we have no wish to see innocents die or suffer. We therefor ask that Pantera should not involve itself.
This is a matter between the fascist bullies of The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint and ourselves. We shall fight dishonour with honour and callousness with integrity and engage the dark forces of envy and wickedness with just and pure spirits and hearts.

I've just joined the game. I'm the tech that had to clear the virii from Nopoofs system after some evil sod crashed it (gee I wonder who?). Once again Svalvard acts the school yard bully, but this time the Empire of Benicius will not tollerate their unacceptable threats towards a sovereign state. With 145 million Svalvard believes they are invincible. In the meantime, Clepsydra has been building its regional forces, and now collectively possess a total population of 730 million. These numbers grow daily.

If Svalvard continues to threaten soveriegn states for no reason but to get a few kicks, then Clepsydra will mobilise as a collective force on the side of Nopoofs.

Ahem. I was asked by Nopoofs to chastise Greenspoint for sending insulting telegrams to Nopoofs. I promised Nopoofs that I would try and help resolve the issue.

I therefore conducted an investigation into the behavior of both Nopoofs and Greenspoint being the even handed fellow that I am. My conclusion upon reviewing the evidence collected so far is that there was simply not enough evidence to implicate Greenspoint of any misconduct. There is not sufficient evidence to prove that Nopoofs was guilty of any serious misconduct in the initial phases of the conflict either. It seems to me that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion by Nopoofs.

However, the fact that Nopoofs has not yet provided any specific evidence to me or to the fine nations on this thread to back up the allegations that were made against Greenspoint makes me suspicious.

I request that all the fine nations arrayed here refrain from or retract declarations of war so we can give Nopoofs a few more days to substantiate his claims so I can complete my investigation and post all the evidence on this thread.

The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint would like to ask the indulgence of the body of NationStates involved in this thread. The initial 'confrontation,' if you wish to call it that, which set off the entire episode can be found in the U.N. Debate Forum, in a topic titled Repeal of Euthanasia (should it pass). The subject of the debate being what it was, tempers and passions were flaring, and we were rather annoyed at the time by the ambassador from The Republic of NoPoofs, who had posted several comments entirely in capital letters. We find it hard to maintain focus on a debate when a speaker is constantly shouting so, as you'll see in the topic, we respectfully asked the ambassador of NoPoofs what we could do to get him to turn off his capslock key.

We did not hear from The Republic of NoPoofs again until several days later, via telegram, in which their Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that capitalization was used as a tool to emphasize certain important points in a discussion, then used language which inferred our level of education and indeed, intelligence, was wanting since we obviously didn't know that. He then went on in that vein for another sentence or two. Alas, not knowing that our response would engender such a violent outburst, we deleted that telegram, as we replied with an agreement as to what capitalization was used for, but we respectfully pointed out that capitalizing the ENTIRE message defeats the purpose.

Then, several days later, we received this telegram:

The Senate and Government of Nopoofs must respectfully inform you that, unless a formal, unqualified appology is received from your government to the peoples and Government of Nopoofs within 36hrs, that a formal state of war will exist between our two Nations.

We then asked the Minister to detail exactly what is he wanted us to apologize for. We received this telegram in response:

You have less than 36 hours to refresh your memory. We suggest you use the time wisely.

We responded with a telegram, which unfortunately we did not save, alerting the Minister to the fact that, while a fairly young and small nation, we are a member of a larger Region, the constitution of which contains provisions for mutual defense. We also stated our sadness that the Minister of NoPoofs seemed to be blowing things so out of proportion and acting rather childish and undiplomatic, not becoming to the office he held. His response:

Being a bully is not very diplomatic either. We don't care 'how big your gang is.' We won't give in to schoolyard mentality and if you don't consider what you have done is wrong, then there is no point in discussing things with you. If your idea of diplomacy is to use bully boy tactics, then we suggest that you should try looking the word up in a dictionary, or get someone to do it for you.
Just one more thing YOU HAVE PROVED THAT YOU ARE THE ONE THAT IS CHILDISH. GROW UP!!!

At that point the Chief Bottle Washer of Greenspoint ordered our Assistant Manager in charge of Defense to put our military forces on DefYellow, and with the support of several other nations in our Region, we are preparing to repulse any incursion/invasion that The Republic of NoPoofs may launch.

However, we believe we can still reach a diplomatic settlement in this matter. While we feel NoPoofs' demand for an apology is unfounded, we would like to extend the hand of friendship to that fine Republic, and in gesture of that, we have a large transport plane full of the best Texas Chicken Fajitas this side of the Pecos waiting on the Tarmac at Alief International Airport. It's some fine good eating if I do say so myself, and I'll even toss in a case of the best Tequila to wash 'em down.

We await word from The Republic of NoPoofs as to where the shipment of Fajitas and Tequila is to be flown.

ty for showing your side of the story greenspoint. You did something that nopoofs never did no matter how many times i asked them. From what you have shows it appears Nopoofs was the one throwing around the rude comments. One of his allies in this little dispute has the same problem and sent me a threatening message just cause i was demanding Nopoofs show the proof. As of right now if Nopoofs declares war upon you i shall be there to defend you since he has shwon not enough proof even as HotRodia showed.

After trading several harsh telegrams with Nopoofs, it was eventually decided more pressing matters were of concern for the nation. However, after reading Greenspoint post, which was well thought out, elaborate, and most importantly substantiated, we cannot simply void this as a conflict not warranting our attention. Our initial reason for leaving had been that Greenspoint had failed to respond, and that most likely Greenspoint would ignore the entire thread.

However we were thoroughly impressed by the statement from Greenspoint, and his reconciliatory manner, contrasting to Nopoofs' harsh and unbacked tones. In the interest of not furthering tensions in hopes of avoiding conflict, we will not openly announce that the Federal Republic will back Greenspoint against any attack.

This is Cheezy Grin reporting for the Central Nopoofs News (CNN). Early yesterday death, destruction and mass carnage was brought to the very nice and peaceful country of Nopoofs. Full details could not be released until now due to the delicacy of the increse of tensions regarding the Greenspoint problem. Reporting restrictions have now been lifted and we can now report upon the happenings of yesterdays shocking events.
The country was nearly brought to a standstill yesterday due to what is being described as, an act of terrorism and technological warfare. Several virii were introduced into our very nice Governments mainframe systems. This caused a nationwide shutdown of some of the larger powerplants. I'm sure that most of us saw the effects, with the massive traffic pile-ups and multiple crashes, due to the failure of the traffic control system. However, what most people were not aware of was the effect to, waterplants and hospitals. Conservative figures on fatalities and injuries caused may number in the hundreds. We will keep you informed as soon as we have any up to date information.

Seems to me like there's some dirty politics going on here. I know the nopoofs guy was having problems with his telegrams crapping out and couldn't paste properly and you could see it was garbled. I know he was off-line a bit so I don't know if he technical probs.
I think it kinda strange that this green guy 'lost' his telegrams and the ones he's pasted are obviously edited bits. Indeed, "Hoola" is far too young to be throwing around Nuclear weapons. And has anyone else noticed Hoola has 3 posts in a row, but his post count is only 2....

The Rogue Nation of Greenspoint had hoped that the Republic of NoPoofs would be able to see that there is no need for any tension between our two nations. That plane load of fajitas (and tequila) is still loaded up, though it's been moved into a hangar for safe keeping. The Texas sun does things to food items left in hot cargo planes for too long.

In any case, we've not heard from the Minister of Foreign Relations since he stormed out of this very chamber the other day, nor have any military forces approached our borders or coastline. We were saddened to read the reports of life lost from the crash of vital services and utilities caused by the virus that was reported to have attacked the NoPoofs computer network. If any help in that area is needed, Hancock Industries, a leading firm in the computer network security field, has technicians that they could send over, along with even more fajitas and tequila....

We patiently await an answer.

Good evening and this is the news from CNN. I'm Cheezy Grin your action news reporter.
Before we bring you an update on the tragic nationwide events that struck the country yesterday, we have another urgent newsflash. It looks like it's WAR folks! We have unconfirmed reports that several 'splatter class' missiles were launched early this morning at the Greenspoint capital. The missiles of this particular class are especially nortorious for their toxic warheads, which contain a particularly nasty type of really evil smelling, fermented custard. Oh the inhumanity!!
There are also unverified reports that a squadron of bombers took off from the carrier fleet that is stationed just outside of Greenspoints terrritorial waters. It is rumoured that these planes are carrying the highly controversial 'hooter bombs'. The 'hooter bombs' are reported to contain highly refined sneezing powder. (puts his head in his hands and sobs).
[The announcers voice proclaims] We will continue with the news broadcast after this episode of 'Bigtopians say the darnest things.' In tonights episode Annie Bigtopian accidentally minces to death Mr. B.G. Mouth, a citizen of The Sword and Shield, with the lawnmower, after he trespasses into the garden.

Good evening, I'm Cheezy Grin your Central Nopoofs News action reporter.
General Bloodangutz reported that the surgical strikes carried out this morning, on the Capital of Greenspoint were very nearly 100% accurate. He states that all of the 'hooter bombs' detonated successfully over the target Sneezing was reportedly heard up to five miles away.
However, a couple of the 'splatter' missiles went astray. According to reports 4 'splatter' class missiles were deflected by a flock of seagulls. Two of the missiles detonated over the capital of Svelvard and another 2 detonated over the capital of The Sword and Shield. The Republican Intelligence Group reports that both Palaces are awash with the really nasty, toxic custard. Yeuch!! The other missiles are reported to have detonated successfully over the Greenspoint target area. Ooooh messy!
Air defence units remain at a high state of readiness in case of counter-attack Mechanised units and troops remain at readiness on the border approaches.
An update of the terrorist attack will be issued shortly by The Minister for Internal Affairs.
