I regret to have to announce that the island of Burro (small, unpopulated and about 70 miles off our South-West coast amoungst the Outer Islands) has been closed to all visitors and tourists due to a Ministry of Defence discovery of Anthrax spores on the Island.
The Cayan Defence Base on the Island has also been abandoned.
It is believed that the anthrax traces back to when this Island was owned by a foreign defence company. It is hoped the lush wildlife and forests on the island are not affected.
For security reasons, the other 4 Cayan Outer Islands are being checked for signs of the spores.
I ask all tourists and visitors planning to travel to Burro Island to abandon the plan immediately. Anyone found trying to gain access to the island will be arrested and fined/deported.
