Press Announcement, General Perez spokesman, Gov House Press Room

General Perez, official head of state and premier for the People's Republic of Cayo and the Outer Islands for the last year, is pleased to announce he feels Cayo is now politically ready to hold a general election.

Democratic elections were banned under the rule of both the fascist Pepito dictatorship and the Babooska regime. Now, after a year in office, General Perez believes the Cayan economy and society is stable enough to hold the first elections in four decades. The election will take place one month from today.

After much discussion, it has been decided that Cayo will follow a system of direct presidential election. The will choose the leader of a certain political party to be president, and he will then in turn choose member's of his party to take part in his cabinet. The following candidates are running:

General Ernesto Perez - Cayan People's Socialist Party

Dr David Genoa - Cayan Anarchist Party

Mr Ricardo Camillio - The Cayan Nationalist Front

Mr Elijah Gomez - Cayan Liberal Party

Dr Ellian Emmanuel - Cayan Conservative Movement

At this time it looks like the two main runners will be General Perez of the Socialists and Mr Camillio of the Nationalists.

The Cayan Council of People's Power will hold elections in two months time. This council is made up of 250 delegates who have been elected in their local area. Any citizen who passes the standard entry test, which covers the basics of politics can stand for this election. This counci will not have direct power, but will be able to advise the government on issues.

Early Report indicate that the Socialists have a lead of approx 62% with the nationalists on 23% and the other partys on 15%

It looks like the people are pleased with the improvements General Perez has made during his short time in office.

Hopefully in the elections, either the Cayan People's Socialist Party's canidate or the Cayan Liberal Party's Canidate will win. Whoever wins, we'll have to take cues from because of our upcomming elections-the next elections will be a major opportunity for the Socialist Labor Party to dominate all portions of government.

Dear General Perez,

It is great to see a nation find the way to freedom in such times of darkness. So many nations of the world have become increasingly socialist, communist, and anarchist. The Democratic Republic of Har Land would like to give support in some form, monitary, law enforcement, or commodities to The People's Republic of Cayo if and when these elections are held, and carried through.

Signed,
Har Land President, Matthew Harland

Dear President Harland,
Thankyou for your offer of support. As we have not held elections for many, many years, we are stepping carefully so as not to start unwanted troubles. Therefore, all military and police presence is at a miniumum near voting stations.

Although I am myself a socialist, I believe Cayo can progress towards a better future under the banner of equality.

I have re-instated elections because I believe the people now realise that socialism is, for Cayo, the only realistic option today.

Much Regards,
General Perez of the People's Republic of Cayo and Outer Isles
