Earlier this week, at the Websterianism Consortium for Applied Orbital Construction Sciences in sunny Heusburg, the P4lladian Institute for Apathy and Irrelevancy (PIAI) introduced the High-Energy Plasma Carbon Reconstruction Doodad.

The doodad works by channeling high-energy deuterium plasma into a "hot zone", or contained synthesization chamber. From there, microscopic nanomachines strip the plasma of its energy, which it uses to re-sequence the deuterium into carbon, which it then assembles a carbon nanotube. Carbon nanotubes, aside from being easy for the nanomachines to contruct aslo happen to be nearly indestructible, making them ideal for space-based construction projects.

This technlogy is easily replicated, and the PIAI is considering selling custom units to other nations. All you need is a source of plasma, prefereably from a fusion reactor. Price is negotiable.

The Incorporated States of Exonerate would like to inquire as to its practical value, and why not use some of the cheaper, more efficent methods available.

The device is surprisingly efficient for what it is. It is ideal for orbital construction because you only need to put the device and a small fusion reactor in orbit, rather than sticking tons of steel onto rockets. You can also use it to construct things very, very quickly, such as a temporary military installation in enemy territory. The PIAI, however, does not endorse the use of the Doodad for hostile purposes.

Not to be outdone, the Joshu Science & Technology department has implemented some plans it has been working on for some time.

In an unprecedented movement, the ST deparment has gained approval to begin construction of the 'space elevator' mentioned last month.

Also, the "EyeTap" appliance, originally created by Professor Steve Mann, has been modified to suit the needs of the general populace of Ninjao. The appliance will now be available to the public. For more information on the "EyeTap", go to http://www.space.com/businesstechnology/cyborg_mann_041012.html

The head honcho of the Joshu ST department sat behind his desk, his arms crossed in smug self-contention.

You still need to move up lots of material to use in the construction. I think we'll pass.

Theare replcaitors basicly ?

Do you think that there is any way we can convert this process into
an energy production system?

I am interested in this technology as my region is currently working on a large orbital space base/colony. I was wondering if I could get a good price. Telegram me so we can work it out.

Theare replcaitors basicly ?
Yes and no. They do the same thing, but the Doodad only can make things out of nanotubes. Perhaps a fututre iteration of the hardware will be able to make more things.

Do you think that there is any way we can convert this process into an energy production system?
Yes, but a woefully inefficient one. You can make power with it, but it would require more energy to make energy than the amount it would output. However, with some internal modifications to the nanomachines, it may be possible to break down matter into energy, essentially a nuclear fission reactor that works on any material.

Will do. :)

I might have to buy one then, If not for energy, than for the space program.

What does it actually cost?

Doodads go for about $100,000,000 per unit, but it is a new technology and so price is negotiable. You can buy mobile satellite-mounted fusion reactors from me too for $20,000,000 a head, unless you already have your own that you want to use.

How about, I find a way to make it produce energy and you give me a 30% discount?

How does that sound

You've got yourself a deal. I, of course, will be requiring a percentage of your profits from the energy-making variant.

How about we give you a copy of the blue prints.

I'll settle for that. Just tell me how many units you want and we're all set.

Bumperooski! I want to sell more of these. A leader who can't afford a new pair of pants does not reflect well on his nation! :D
