This is the place to have out of character discussions on the RP and possible story lines to follow - discussions about where your portion of the RP is going - suggestions for what the Malthusian "central command" should do to aid your particular portion.

Mine was a two parter... a cancelled and "destroyed" military agent recycled in a milder form as a narcotic to cull to populace. It links to an ongoing investigative thread with Transnapastain, as it's begun in his country through a drug lord (who has no idea he's being used). Any ideas, feel free to suggest.

I envisioned a slow plot build within Hatchibombitar. The firebombing of the Reproductive Services Centre, as well as other similar facilities to come, will not lead back to antiabortion foes, rather it will develop that every fertility clinic, every stored egg, sperm bank and research facility has been destroyed. I'm still mulling over how to escalate from there. I've seen some great angles already, and I want to put in something of equal worth that is't derivative of what's been done.

The man orchestrating the plot in Kaukolastan/Transnapastain/any-other-country-wanting-in is former Internal Security Director Richard Iams. Any way you could fit him inside the Malthusian Command Structure?

The firebombing of the Reproductive Services Centre, as well as other similar facilities to come, will not lead back to antiabortion foes, rather it will develop that every fertility clinic, every stored egg, sperm bank and research facility has been destroyed. I'm still mulling over how to escalate from there. I've seen some great angles already, and I want to put in something of equal worth that is't derivative of what's been done.

This would be very, very long term - but if you back date the events...you could create gene mutations within the eggs - selective breeding for a weakness to viral infections...(just thinking off the top of my head here).

I'm going for a rather holistic approach.

The locust have been release in Wolfish - and begin to decimate crops throughout the nation.

President Todler is briefed on the severity of the situation, and so, before it becomes public - decides to wag the dog.

He orders Wolfish Defense Command to find a nice little war that we can enter - be the good guy - help some little nation - and thereby improve his approval ratings before the bad news hits.

Here's where Wolfish went to war (its a really bad RP with a lot of very confused nations...[why are you here - you're big but that doesn't give you the right to bully us...etc] ).

Yeah - if you give me some plot lines, I can RP him showing up at HQ and having a discussion with the collective. He can be a ranking officer of the group.

Yeah, it would be long term in and of itself. The short term consequence I foresaw was a precipitous drop in the birth rate if no one can get prenatal care and fertility services are wiped out. I'm brainstorming for a tie-in that will produce more catastrophic results and make for a "sexier" plot line (no pun intended). You've given me some great ideas to contemplate.

Plot line is this:

Ten years ago, Kaukolastan was researching a psychotropic nerve agent, but the tests went horrifically bad, and it was destroyed. All evidence was erased, supposedly, but then-Director Iams stole a sample, weakened it through hidden research (perhaps Malthusian facilties?), and sent it to a druglord as a new narcotic. The dealer then distributed this cut version and has been raking the profits. He's almost forgotten about being given the original by one of "his" men, and has no idea he's being used. This "Mind Blade" finds its way into Transnapastain, where it begins to create a culling of the poorer users. He contacts me, and Director Kerrik (who had ties to Mind Blade) realizes that it's the SAME agent. After an investigation, the drug lord goes down, but by someone else, before he can talk. Pieces (though small) don't fit, and perhaps hint to something larger...

(And Kerrik was Iams' protege, just an FYI, so they may meet, but nothing will much come of it.)

So far in Henleaze's history, I've envisaged having Malthusian agents spread throughout society in different cells, being coordinated by the higher-ups to work together and on occasion produce devastation like the destruction of New Cavanagh. Perhaps the destruction will start to become more frequent, and the government will realise something is wrong. Perhaps a high-level Malthusian could give some of the cells a specific goal rather than general destruction... or perhaps the country will turn into a police state while the government attempts to weed out the 'terrorists'. Currently I'm making it up as I go along, but a coherent storyline should emerge within my next few posts.

You certainly had the most destructive "event" so far. I think you might want to build on that - what is the national leadership doing? Are other nations coming to your aid? Did the President give a televised speech? etc.

The next step I want to take with my Charlie Baldwin character is to have one of his professors at University attempt to recruit him into the Malthusians. The Malthusians know that he is anti-Malthusian, but they don't realize how adamantly against them he really is. They expect to either brainwash him and turn him to their side or neutralize him if he won't play.

What they don't realize is that Charlie has been studying this stuff since he was 12 and is smarter than any of them. He plays along and joins the Malthusians rising in their ranks as well as increasing his prominence in the social and political world of WuWeiWu. With some help from the Malthusians, he is elected governor of the largest province in WuWeiWu. At this time he becomes involved in a plot to contaminate the water supply.

Can he stop the Malthusians in time? Is this the end for Charlie Baldwin? Tune in next week, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!

Starting with a shoulder fired missile that takes down a commercial jet that scares everyone a lot. The military than gets the OK to instale countermessures in all commercial jets. Than when the time is right, they start some inspections that replace a lot of the countermesures with a bio agent that will dispence when told, over a large city as the airplain is landing, infecting millions with this agent that takes a while to show signs, is as contagious as the flue, and has a 100% kill rate. The plan would be that by the time anyone finds out what happened, too many people are infected to stop it.

Well, I think I'm back on track. I wiped out all my fertilty clinics, women's health centers etc and had a mysterious Dr. Hardin move in to dominate the market. The good Dr. is dosing all the women with Thalidomide (nasty stuff) which should wipe out a full generation for reproduction purposes.
BTW, the real Garrett Hardin wrote a seminal political essay on Malthus entitled "The Tragedy of the Commons". It's dense, but well worth a read.

Must not let awesome RP die.....

If you listen very hard, you may be able to hear the sound of whirring cogs as I try to think of another post... I'll get on it right now.

There's an empy chair at the Malthusians table where a traitor once sat. Now, the hunt is on for you find any traitors in your nation. In the meantime, that chair needs filling. The Malthusians will be meeting to choose a replacement; who wants it?

I.... might be interested. The candidate could be someone unimportant in Henleaze - we're talking a minor bureaucrat or a shopkeeper here... or could be a fairly high-level government official. Any preferences? Would he have to approach the Malthusians for the position or would he be approached?

I'm off to France until Friday evening - keep up the great RP chaps and chapesses. Malthusians... if you are able to hold on until Friday evening I would still be interested in a Henleazian becoming a 'member of the board', so to speak, but if that's too long a wait then don't worry about it - pick the next sociopath who strolls along. Have fun people... kill a few citizens for me...
