Breaking News: Nannuk News Network exclusive report.
Dictator Justinian today announced in a speech to the Nannuk Curia of Delegates his signing of a new Energy bill proposed by MP Hallinbeck of Depot Bay.
“In these trying times of strife, turmoil and inconsistent international commodity markets we must end reliance on widely inconsistent foreign energy sources. Therefore it is our duty to the people of Nannuk to launch a bold new energy policy, one removed form foreign coal, oil and other energy sources. This legislation will secure our own Natural resources from foreign exploitation and implement reasonable subsidies for the exploitation of wind, geothermal, solar and nuclear power.”
Applause
“No longer will we be subject to the whims and vagarieties of tyrannical despots in oil rich regions.”
Applause. Loud chorus of ‘Hear ! Hear!”
“In addition, this legislation will provide bold new incentives toward divorcing the Internal Combustion engine from petroleum in our time. This will be accomplished through native Research and Development, and industry partnerships with innovative foreign companies to bring the Hydrogen powered rotary engine to fruition.”
Applause.
“In conclusion my friends, we have embarked on a bold new vision of tomorrow. A vision of a nation with a more environmentally friendly energy policy that does not in any way sacrifice or economic growth, or bankrupt or nation for future generations.
Thank you.”
Standing Applause.
Of course, not everyone agreed with Dictator Justinian’s rosy appraisal of the new legislation.
MP McClintock of Bandon: “This is a travesty of a bill. A new Socialist Jobs program that ignores the fiscal realities of the situation. Mark my words, this legislation will isolate us from international opinion, anger our friends in the Oil rich regions thereby increasing our trade deficit, and bankrupt the Federal government with tomfoolery and nonsense spending. It is pork barrel at it’s worst. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of Justinian’s cousins just happens to CEO of one of these struggling ‘alternative-energy’ companies.”
