Three reasons.

1) Defense- Im not about to let them get away with mass murdering my men

2) Political Stance Within The International Community- If they use WMD on you and you do nothing in return, then it would be open season on your country by terrorists or impererialistic nations as they see that you wont retaliate with WMD if they use them on you.

The message from Credonia reached the United Microstates and was delivered to Minister of Military Affairs Donald Rumsfeld personally by an assistant.

"Sir, it appears to be an inquiry from the Credonian President about a group of freedom fighters assisting them in war against Guerrillistan, sir" the young assistant said as he handed Rumsfeld the note.

Opening the note, Rumsfeld began to read while replying to the young man. "Good, we've been monitoring the situation over there and I was hoping that after the NGMOA was passed, General Keyes would take his Keyesters over there to..."

"Actually, sir, I don't think it was Keyes," the assistant interrupted with. "Something about a phone call from a lunatic is what I've heard..."

"Lunatic? Ohhhhh, no!" Rumsfeld said, clenching the piece of paper in his hands.

"What is it, sir?" asked the assistant.

"If it isn't Keyes, it has to be that fool Nick Fury and his bunch of mental patients! I'd okay the Keyesters in a heartbeat, but if those Howling Commandos go over there, they'll raze half the country!" Rumsfeld said. The Minister of Military Affairs knew all about Fury, having served along side him during the War of Realization.

Rumsfeld paced back and forth a bit, debating in his mind whether or not to okay the pack of crazy savages' leave to fight against Guerrillistan should a war break out. As part of the Non-Governmental Military Organization Act, every such mission by 'freedom fighter' groups had to be approved of by the head of the Ministry.

"Well, sir? What should we tell the Credonians?"

"Ahh..." Rumsfeld had a look of regret on his face. "Tell them to expect the Howling Commandos, I guess."

"But tell them they'd better know what they're getting into. And stress to everyone involved that the United Microstates government is not responsible for the actions of Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos!"

As the assistant walked off, Rumsfeld remained standing in the same spot, by himself, looking as if he had a headache.

'Oh well,' he thought to himself as he sighed. 'At least that'll get them out of the country for a while...'

President Sutton after recieving the reply from UM seemed puzzled.

"I wonder whats going on. It seems as if they arent sure of what their own commando team is going to do.....well, if they do anything our special forces guys will whip them back into shape. Send UM my thanks for their support." he says to his personal assistant that rushes out of the room.

Sutton turns and peers out of the window wondering exactly what will happen during the war and if he's doing the right thing.

Back at Credonia, U-2S spy planes fuel up and prepare for their flights that will take them to an altitude of 60,000 ft. over Guerrillistanian territory to take photographs of terrorist bases and camps, and government military camps and bases (Let it be made known that when Credonia starts U-2S recon flights following the mobilization and deployment of troops, that means Credonia WILL attack unless its demands are met). In addition, orders have been given to Credonia’s 80th, 53rd, and 71st Carrier Divisions. Their ETA is 5 RL hours.

At this time, the Credonian Congress is voting on whether or not to declare war on Guerrillistan should the deadline come and go without allied demands being met. A declaration of war will come directly from the President at or around the time that the deadline expires. The Republic of Ozymandias IV has frozen all Guerrillistan financial assets within the Republic until such time as the current crisis is resolved.

Military reserves are being called up for active service in the event that an open conflict occurs between Credonia and Guerrillistan. The nation's police and emergency responders have been placed on high alert with increased security around key infrastructures within the Republic.

With all citizens of the Republic safely out of Guerrillistan, the Republic Department of Transportation has ordered all inbound flights to be diverted from Guerrillistan, Terristan and other classified 'threat-nations'.

The Republic's Second Interceptor Fighter Wing with three squadrons of F-16D Falcons is on combat air patrol over the nation and the Navy of the Republic's coastal patrol fleet has been ordered to sea to defend nautical approaches.

OOC: what base are you preparing for us

OOC: reserve naval facilities located in the black loch and the brother loch.

The Black loch facility has enough berthing for your trasport and msot of your combat units and shore side housing for all of your ground forces in fully hardened facilities with huge logistical storage facilities.

The Brother loch facility is a purely naval installation priamrily designed to support aubmarines but capable of a fair number of surface vessels.
(these are bother sea lochs, think the holy loch (former US sub base) and faslane).

We will be stretched to handle just quite so many air craft but we feel that Elmswood (mainly bomber facilities) and Waterfoot airfeilds should meet your needs.

All of the facilities are located in the north east of the Main Crookfur Island (Crookfur being one big island and few smaller ones located just north of the gulf stream in the middle of the atlantic, i'm not entirely sure where Guerrillistan is but it would appear to be within to be within a few days sailing). As to how we can afford to let you use these, well the Crookfur high command maintain a large number of reserve operational bases around the island to allow units to rotate and gain a varied training (and to allow for future expansion or emergency wartime needs), we do have a number of perminant bases surrounding the reserve bases.

Credonian forces are now relocating to your military bases. Movement will be complete in 3 NS hrs (30 RL minutes)

Credonia has sent a final warning to the nation of Guerrillistan stating our intent to proceed with the invasion. Credonian troops are poised for battle. U-2S flights have stopped and pictures of the targets will be posted soon. Credonian strategic bombers are fueling up for their initial attack against this rogue nation and Credonian naval forces are preparing for their massive Cruise missile strike in which they will engage. It is estimated that somewhere over 100 cruise missiles will be launched in the first hour of battle alone from 4 of its Los Angeles Class SSN's. Credonian F-15E Tomcats are taking off from the aircraft carriers and begining patrol of the area just outside of the Guerrillistanian border. The Credonian 43rd Army Infantry Division will be the first division to plae ground troops onto enemy territory and will begin the first push to sek out the terrorists and destroy military forces that stand in their way.

For all nation in support of Guerrillistan, there are well over half a million troops in the area waiting to converge on this nation, most are well trained soldiers from Credonia (Veterans - due to war experience). We have yet to hear any information on the damage caused but it is expected to be extensive.

The Laudian 28th Infantry were the first ground troops to land moving in water based APC's so secure a landing zone for arriving forces. The president still has not annouced what units have been sent to guerralistan but it is expected to included several armoursed divisions and at least 1 naval fleet, Now back to the John, Michelle and Tony in the studio.

A flight of F-117s flew toward the coastline of Guerrillistan. The stealth attack aircraft had finished refueling 60 miles off the coast and they dropped down to within 100 feet of the surface of the sea as they made their approach.

Lead pilot Capt Phin IX made a hand gesture to the aircraft to his left and the flight split with three planes heading to the northeast and three heading to the southeast.

Their orders were to maintain radio silence for as long as possible. Of course when they delivered they bomb loads, most of the Guerrillistan defenses would be alerted.

The first flight planned to wipe out the powerplants which supplied the Guerrillistan capital with its electricity. The second flight was to disable the main communications exchange.

Secondary targets included bridges and any large concentrations of military stores.

With the amount of inbounds fired by Credonia's navy, it was likely that we'll be dumping out bombs into the sea before heading home. Phin IX thought. Still, we've got to fly the mission profile in case the Credonian bombers and misslies left any targets for us...

The two flights of F-117s passed over the coast of Guerrillistan and headed inland following their GPS-enhanced computerized terrain map.

General Keyes listened to what his old friend had to say but didn't like it a bit. He remembered the tactics Fury used against the Red Fist during the War of Realization all those years ago and knew Fury hadn't changed much since then.

"So long as the international community knows that Fury isn't acting on behalf of the United Microstates government, I can't find a problem with it," Rumsfeld continued.

Keyes hated the idea of Fury going halfway around the world with his band of hand-picked hooligans to fight in a foreign war. Fury's Howling Commandos were unlike his own Keyesters, who were all well-trained, well-equipped and mentally balanced.

But if Keyes felt he could trust anyone to make such a decision, it was Rumsfeld. Main military forces have not yet begun the 'I-Day' invasion, but Credonian and allied air forces have flown in and out of the area performing their attacks with virtually no resistance. Not a shot has been fired at them. Credonian Secretary of State Mitchell Ferguson stated "We have caught the enemy sleeping and we will use this to our advantage. We have already destroyed countless government buildings and power grids with our tactical and air to surface missiles. If we continue at this pace, the nation will be in complete control by allied forces"

12:15 pm - International Waters 5 N.M. From Guerrillistan
The Credonian 43rd Marine Infantry Division appoaches the manland prepared to make a beachhead assault. Onboard Flagship CNS Nautalus, The fleet admiral talks with the General (of the marine forces out there)

Admiral: Well, this is it. Were close and it looks like there wont be much resistance coming from these guys. The odds are in our favor.

The orders go out to begin the beachhead assault. Hovercraft and amphibious attack vehicles roll out into the water and head for shore. Airborne attack and ASW helicopters keep vigil as the troops from the mighty 43rd begin the invasion onto enemy territory.

The General and Admiral watch the soldiers as they are eager to fight in the name of freedom, democracy, and i memory of their late President Kaimoni Sutton.

Time: Twilight after the Credonian invasion...

The MH-53J Pave Low III refueled and dropped to 75 feet over the waves in the ocean off the Guerrillistan coast. The pilot took care to avoid the area where Credonia was landing its marines.

Once over the coastline, the helo veered toward the interior of the country toward the first of three suspected GLA camps. Hugging the nap of the earth, the darkened helicopter flared and hovered a few feet off the ground while the first Special Operations Group team jumped to the ground and moved toward the treeline. They were only halfway to the trees before the helicopter powered up and left.

Similar troop insertions occurred within a few kilometers of the other two camps.

The Special Operations Group teams moved through the forests of Guerrillistan, relying on their training and night-vision goggles to negotiate the unfamiliar terrain. The took their time, careful not to make any sound which would give them away.

Eventually, they each reached the approximate location of the GLA camps.

The officers spread their men into a skirmish line and prepared to advance through the camp location....

Breaking news today, terrorist-supporting state Terristan, located in the Fruit Islands, have announced that they have nuclear weapons in their possession! Tis news comes as the rogue nation threatens close Isochronous allies, Credonia, with a nuclear strike on Credonian forces liberating Terristan from it's terrorist controllers, unless the Credonians and allies withdraw.

The Emperor was unavailable for comment as we went to broadcast, however, it is believed he is involved in heavy discussions with Credonian President Smith. Rumours have been circulation around the Holy Empire for years that a prototype space-based anti ICBM device is up in orbit, with success figures quoted between 70-88%.

The only camp that wasn't deserted contained 14 men, aged from 19 to 47. They had stayed after the evacuation of Guerrillistan and Terristan during the McLeodian blockade many years ago. They had packed away their weapons and were making a living harvesting bananas and mangoes.Their war fighting for the GLA was long over. Funds were cut and command and control had all but forgotten about them. They were the last 14 out of over 27,000. The last 14 who decided to stay in the fruit islands and make a living.

Well if thats true then I have suggestion for you. Agree to Credonia's offer of a surrender. In order for Credonia to continue to be the bringers of freedom they claim they are they cannot impose harsh conditions on you. Then The lot of you can put the weapons down and discuss this like the civilised creatures we like to think we are.

All the outside world wants is for the conflict to end and for you to resolve your problems. Think of your suffering citizens. For their sake, put the weapons down and resolve your differences around the conference table.

The SOG team was as relaxed as it ever got in the field when suddenly the forest erupted in an explosion of sound. First from the sound of the mine, then from shouts of pain and confusion and the screaming of the birds in the trees.

"Get ready," X-ray 6 said to his men. "They're coming and the bird is five minutes out."

He unfolded his radio: "Razor this is X-ray. We've got hostiles approaching. Unknown number and disposition. Consider this LZ hot. We'll pop red - repeat RED - smoke on our position when we hear you coming in..."

The men got up, there was nothing they could do. All four were dead, Moses was spread all over the place.

The remaining ten men advanced slowly in skirmish formation, weapons at the ready. 2 minutes later they stopped. They were at the edge of the thick bush and there they waited. Isaac readied his RPG, Yusef lit an old cigar.

Isaac squinted, he couldn't see a thing through the dodgy RPG sight. In fact the last time he fired it was 3 years ago while going through basic training.

"X-ray this is Razor. We've got your smoke. Keep your heads down fellas we're going to let her rip..."

As the MH-53J Pave Low III helicopter came over the treeline, miniguns on both sides of the aircraft began sweeping the edges of the clearing with with 7.62mm shells.

When the SOG team members heard the sound they also began firing into the treeline on full automatic, spraying their zones of fire with magazine after magazine.

Yusef lay still, all around him the place zipped with bullets, trees and shrubs were torn to pieces.

After a while the shooting stopped. Yuesef called out, there was no answer. He ran to where his men where, they were all dead. Ripped aprt during the furious incoming fire. Yusef leant over Isaac, his dead eyes staring at the sky, and wept.

The helo flared in for a landing with its guns still blazing.

The SOG team ran for the rear ramp, firing from the hip into the trees on both sides of the aircraft.

The flight sergeant in back slapped each man as he passed into the large interior with the team captain behind him doing the same thing. As the final team member raced up the ramp he turned to the X-ray 6 who nodded.

"All aboard, let's go" the sergeant shouted and began firing out the rear of the chopper on a third minigun joining the two side gunners in spraying the treeline.

"Hang on!" the pilot shouted as he jammed the collective full and began to shoot upwards at 12.7 meters per second...

The chopper picked up the remaining two SOG teams and headed for the coast maintaining its low altitude, hugging the tops of the trees.

The helo met up with the tanker off the coast of Guerrillistan and then both aircraft headed for home with their one captive.

Upon arrival, they took him below deck and began to interrogate the man. What they learned was a surprise and the information was quickly passed up the chain of command.

I agree with some of your points particularly the lack of quality presented in Isochronous's post (if you are going to use B-52 against a nation with an active airdefence system at least read up on the B52 and make the post at leats soemwhat interesting, soem mention of how you managed to aquire the intel would have helped).

I suspect that you are less than pleased by my involvement but so far it is restricted to Credonia using soem of my bases, the redeployment of the planes and the ongoing salavge operation.

Crookfur high command really really hate people talking about nukes so openly and easily and wish epople would actually stop and think about them now and then hence why there was the sudden ramping up of missile defenses at the mere mention of them. (defenses that likely would ahve been used against weapons employed by both sides as thier use by either side would affect us).

As to the silos, opening them and clearing the area makes even the most cleverly hidden silo very obvious (hence why they don't open until actual launch) so obviously your command would opened the silos as a political message/demonstration of will which would have been useless if noone could see them and note we would only have locations of those five silos (which may even be empty dummies...)

2). The Fruit Islands agree to issue a declaration that they do not and will not support terror of civilized nations at any time. Furthermore, the Fruit Islands shall cut any ties they may or may not have to any terrorist groups.

3). The Fruit Islands agree to allow armed inspectors from Allied nations and the International Community into their territory in limited but sufficent numbers to acertain that the threat of terrorist support is no longer real in the Fruit Islands.

4). The Inspectors shall recieve complete, immediate, and unobstructed access to all parts of the Fruit Islands to perform inspections.

5). If the Inspectors find that Terristan and Guerrilistan supported or aided terror of any kind at or after the time at which terrorist attacks by the GLA were carried out against Credonia, the Fruit Islands shall be responsible for paying the full costs of reconstructing their own countries.

6). If the Inspectors find that the Fruit Islands did not support terror at said time, but had aided GLA in the past, the Allies and the Fruit Islands shall split the costs of reconstructing their nations in half.

7). If the Inspectors find that at no time in the histories of the nations of the Fruit Islands did said nations support terror, the Allies shall pay the full costs of reconstructing the Fruit Islands and shall pay the families of each of the deceased that were citizens of said nations.

Note thta the IADF is not acting here. Members of the IADF alliance are acting but the entire alliance has nothing to do with it. In fact many of the members are protesting the actions taken by Credonia and the other members, so leave the IADF out of this. All efforts to start this war on terror have been unilateral on my part. The IADF is a DEFENSIVE alliance, therefore we dont act unless acted upon via war, not terrorism. Had the IADF been involved, we would have sent in military forces from its Quick Reaction Force or would have assembled a Anti-Terrorist unit to send in. Just look at the forums gentlemen. 2). How about changing the wording of part 2 to read "do not and will not support terror of civilized nations at any time through quantifiable means." Then you still can have moral support for terror (which would be freedom of speech), but have sworn not to assist terror in any way (financially, millitarily, etc.)

3). As to the "who" part, if the Fruit Islands really have no more ties to GLA, then they have nothing to fear from inspectors. We understand the emotional objection to certain inspectors from certain countries, but you need to realize that if major coalition countries are not represented in the Inspections team, then the coalition may very well reject the Inspection team's findings. Kisnesia would be proud to be on the inspection team, and would like to incorporate at least one other coalition member and two international members into the Inspection team, but those details can be ironed out later.

As to the "when" part, Inspectors will really only be able to present accurate findings if they can go anywhere in the Fruit Islands. Again, the coalition will be most willing to end the war if they can see that you really DON'T have GLA ties.

If you read parts 6 and 7 of the proposal, the coalition Allies would pay part or all of the costs of rebuilding the Fruit Islands, and depending on the circumstances, also the costs of compensation. This would depend on the findings of the inspectors, but if your claims to no longer support the GLA are true, then you will recieve payment.

Credonia, if the Fruit Islands no longer support GLA, then they probably can't get GLA to sign. And if they do support GLA, then either 1) They aren't going to sign the treaty 2). They arent' going to obey the treaty 3). The inspectors will figure out that they are supporting GLA.

The point of this war was to end any GLA/Terror support by the Fruit Islands. This treaty will accomplish that. Insisting that GLA also sign is pointless, as we know they won't. However, we will have accomplished our goals in relation to the Fruit Islands, and will be able to divert money and forces to other areas.

First of all we would liek to congratulate our allies on a succesful campaign to root out terrorism in the Fruit Islands.

This is unrelated but the forces of order have prevailed and the Gabonese government has fled into the countryside, the military having surrendered for the most part, without the need for an invasion. As of now, the Minisry of Defence is organising a peace mission to Gabon to prevent civil war and to verify that alll terrorist support has ended as well as rooting out the remnants of the former regime. Any support that could be offered in the form of small numbers of military personnel (less than a thousand) to police Gabon's mani city's would be appreciated. Once again this is an example of the threat of force being used to defeat the forces of evil.

not that i have anything to do with the GLA but what if you attacked me but didn't know what my terrain looked like or what infrastructure i had. I could then claim that there is no way you could do so as i haven't mentioned the terrain or names previously. What if they didn't want to attack a city, or perhaps target an embassy or foreign troops. You can't make claims like that credonia.

Today marked the end of ALL hostilities between Terristan and nations in the Fruit Islands as Credonian army, marine, and naval forces pulled from Guerrillistanian territory and set sail for mainland Credonia. The 43rd Marine Infantry Division will be heading to Hamil (Part of the Credonian Empire) to reenforce the 23rd Marine Infantry Division already stationed there.

In the Presidential Palace, President Smith had this to say to reporters "although no terrorists were apprehended, we along with the help of our allies continue to search out and destroy terrorist factions around the world. In this particular instance, that is so, and we managed to avert a MAJOR nuclear confrontation. Luckily during the beachhead assault upon Guerrillistan, not many people were killed, mainly due in part of the fact that Credonian and allied forces caught Guerrillistan off guard. The task force will consist of the Iwo Jima Class Helicopter Carrier Scimitar carrying 1,000 RN Marines and an additional 500 inspectors. The aircraft mix is as follows - 15 CH-53 Sea Stallions, 5 CH-46 Sea Knights, 5 SH-3, and 3 AH-1 Cobras.
