As the threat of nuclear proliferation heightens, Credonia must continue in its efforts to reduce the threats and defend its citizens from harm. Over the course of the past RL month, MAJOR Credonian foreign policy and strategic has changed drastically, calling for further arms buildup, which has been occupying the government to date. It has been made known that Credonian strategic missile forces have doubled, raising the number of independent ICBM's to 810, with a stockpile of 3,090 warheads. Just this past month alone, Credonian biochemical weapon forces have quadrupled bringing the total number of ICBM's to 400 and the number of warheads to 3,100, a 3,000% increase while these weapons are only for deterrent and defense, Credonia will be developing a more aggressive policy towards the deployment of these weapons. IN the meantime, to protect Credonian citizens, a Strategic Defense Initiative program is being planned which will effectively utilize land and space based weapons to reduce all impending missile threats in the unlikely event of a war. Credonia is setting aside a budget of $25 billion to use for this endeavor. The SDI system should be complete within the next few years (few days RL).

The Republic of Ozymandias IV views Credonia's latest effort as yet another potentially destabilizing move.

By creating a missile defense system of this nature, you will encourage technically nations to develop their own systems to protect themselves. Less technically advanced nations will simply increase production of WMDs in the hopes of overwhelming your SDI system.

The only real hope for the NS world is a world-wide treaty limiting the number of weapons of mass destruction. Credonia at one point was leading this effort, but has since shelved these efforts to expand its military, produce bio-chem weapons of mass destruction and now is producing an SDI system.

We continue to be concerned by these developments.

I can assure you, the other IADF allies, and the international community that Credonia is just tightening up its security and modifying its foreign and strategic policies. All of our moves are defensive in nature. What we can assure you is that nuclear weapons production has haulted as we do not need more. Biochemical weapons on the other hand are a whole different subject. To understand what Credonia is doing, you must understand the thinking of the president Kaimoni Sutton (me). I do not plan to attack any nation unless provoked. And i will not do anything that is in violation of the IADF alliance (aftrerall it would be pretty humiliating to get kicked out of an alliance that was proposed by you, and then have the nations part of that alliance take military actions against you would it not?). Rest assured, our moves are not destablilizing. We are only protecting our borders and national assets.

The Dominion of Eredron views this proposed Strategic Defense Initiative as a sound and measured course of action, and one necessary by Credonia to protect itself from the unstable and hostile regimes of the world.

The Government of the Austar Union is also considering upgrading its own missile facilities and gaining a higher stockpile of missiles. The topic is being discussed in our Senate at this very time.

The Empire of Benicius is currently developing a two layered national defence system.

Though the first stage is complete in the form of Theatre Missile Defence (TMD) via our destroyers, the second stage - which is land based - shall not be completed for some months yet.

Once complete, the network shall make Benicius relatively impervious to ballistic missiles of any kind. Of course, the technology will not be made available to trade until such time that an improved system is developed.

We still contend that projects of this nature simply increase proliferation.

The purpose behind the ABM treaty with the old Soviet Union was to prevent each side from creating a huge stockpile of weapons that would overwhelm such defensive measures.

While Credonia has spoken in favor of limiting WMDs in the past, the Republic views this action as contrary to their former stance.

Its actaully not contradictory at all, the ABM treaty LIMITED such weapons, but did not call for the total and COMPLETE disarmament of them, so in essence, if Credonia were to have entered into such a treaty, it wouls STILL be well within our right to create such weapons, while adhering to the limits of the treaty.

EDIT: therefore its not proliferation at all. Its defense, something we have a right to.

The nation of Red Tide supports Credonias decision as we already have our own ballastic missile defense(300 laser sattilites so far).
