Afternoon, this is Rachel Smith. At 1500 today, the Corneliuan Space Agency launched its very first satellite into orbit. This satellite, according to the government, is a weather satellite designed to help our weather forcasters become more accurate which will make life easier for all of us. The military is planning to launch its first satellite very soon. We will of course keep you updated on this issue.

In a related item, the CSA is planning on launching a manned spacecraft within the next few months. We wish the astronaut luck and that God will keep him safe.

General Pointer, the fact the Corneliu has launched a vehicle into space is disturbing. That they, in times of aggression, attacked two of our fleet vessels is something that they will have to deal with. We will see that they keep their place in space-- well behind us. We've sent a mission to take care of this. Please monitor our progress.

Two RF-11 Archangels took off from Hathaway AFB, armed with two ASAT missiles each, plus the usual compliment of four sidewinders.

The fighters angled upwards to the edge of the atmosphere and located the Corneliuian satellite in orbit. The weather satellite was targeted, and the two planes released their missiles. The four ASATs raced towards their target.

When they were about to approach the satellite and destroy it, the missiles veered off course in different directions. They exploded out of range and caused no damage to the satellite.

A banner fell from a canister released by one of the satellites. It came into place right between Earth and the Corneliuian satellite. Before burning up in the atmosphere, it lingered so the satellite could get a good look at it. It read:

Good morning, as you know, I am Rachel Smith. Hours ago, the Corneliu Space Agency Launched a Communications satellite into orbit. We have also been told that the first Manned space flight will be conducted in the middle of this current year or early next year. The name of our first astronaught has yet to be released for security reasons.

In Related news, the weather satellite has increased warning times for tornadoes and thunderstorms and the amount of deaths in this type of weather has gone done. The CSA is planning on launching another weather satellite in the near future.

At 1700 today, The Defense Ministery launched its own satellite. Details on this satellite are still sketchy but we do know that this satellite is equipped with the latest sensor technology. We are being told that this satellite is going to help defend our shores by spotting enemy ships before they approach our shores. This will make all of us safer.

In related news, the CSA is now nearing the final phases of our first manned launch into space. Everything is on schedule according to Director Thompson. We here in the Republic News Studio the best of luck to the pilot.

It has now been confirmed that Captain Barry Vinston has landed safely in the target zone 100 mi off the coast of Corneliu. He is now aboard the ARCS Republic heading home. Also just breaking, The Director of the CSA has announced that the next space flight will be in 6 months. It will be done by Lt. Com Thomas Wilson.

With this in mind, the Director of the CSA, now Director Montgomery to replace the previous director who retired, has announced plans to land a man on the moon.
