A brunette she-reporter smiles to the camera, and reports on a breaking news story.
"Our Glorious Emperor Hamdo will speak to the nation soon...ah, here he is!"

"My fellow Coredians. Today, the unholy nation of Bermuda has finally exhausted our patience, when we so kindly asked them to withdraw their warships from our waters. Now we have no choice but to declare war, and well, God be with us. Oh, and we advise that all flights in or out of the Island to discontinue. Wouldn't want any accidents, wouldn't we?"
He flashed a smile that was mildly unsettling.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Core fleet was getting ready for battle. It contains:

1 Carrier, the Nightstalker
1 battleship
3 Cruisers
4 Destroyers
and 3 Frigates.

Amphibious craft includes:
1 Helicopter Carrier
and enough craft for a regiment of Infantry.

They'll arrive off Bermudian waters in about 2 days.

Yup, you heard right. Bermuda shorts are about to be stolen. I suggest only one nation be allowed to defend the nation, and nothing older than an October one. Two if they are November '03 or younger. and no, Bermuda's not a nation online.

"Bermuda?" John Masaki (me) asked incredulously. "I used to live there!"

"Yup. That's what the Emperor said." My friend, Nathan said. "We're probably looking at a short battle."

"Crap." I swore. "Well, hopefully it's going to be short."

Our unit is particularly youthful. Almost everyone in the regiment is 18 or younger, which is doubly sad. I, as the former president hiding in plain sight, won't be killing unless absolutely necessary, but I suppose others won't have the luxury of being Jedi. What a crappy way of forcing kids to lose innocence, and on a beautiful Island, too! I remembered the school I used to go to, Saltus Grammar School (www.saltus.bm), and idly wondered if it was gonna survive any bombings. Probably not. But I hope to at least try and warn the headmaster, Mr. Kermode to take cover, if we do attack. Well, we do what we must for the "glory" of the Emperor. Another day to go before action time.

Admiral Jarek Wolfbane smiled. This will be an easy battle. "Prepare the cruise missiles! Target the airport, the Dockyards, and Hamilton!"

"Aye, aye, sir!" Sailors worked quickly to execute the orders. Soon, Tomahawk cruise missiles were sailing over the water, and slammed into their targets, causing a massive firestorm in downtown Hamilton that the firetrucks were hard-pressed to stop. The missiles also leveled the airport, and destroyed other random areas of the Island, killing hundreds. A single squadron of F-14s, left over from the Cold War, valiantly rose into the air, and were swatted out of the sky, but not before taking 8 friendly planes with them. Soon, very soon, the amphib ships would land, and the soldiers would fight and take this island. It only had a Regiment and police, anyway.

"Go, go go!" The commanders shouted. The plan was to land on the beaches, and work our way from there. My platoon landed on Horseshoe Bay, the most popular one, and waded our way up the sand. Bermuda Regiment troops were stretched to the limit, as there were 700 to our 5,000. However, howitzers and grenades took their toll on us, as well as the 3 Rifle companies.
I took to the trees to avoid the fire and reshouldered my rifle. Hijacking a 50cc motorbike, I sped up to Hamilton where people were being dragged out of burning buildings. Ignoring the shocked looks from the people upon seeing who I am, I helped drag burnt and bruised bodies out, making sure they're alive.

"Why do you help us?" A woman sneered. "Go back to the killers you come from."
The insult stung me, but I held firm. "I'm a Jedi, not a murderer. Besides, these people need help."
When I was finished, I went up to what's left of the school. It seemed that when the bombings started, class was still in session. You didn't have to be psychic to know that they're all frightened, and some have been killed. Someone grabbed my throat from behind, and I elbowed him in the chest. I turned around and realized that this boy is Mark Amaral, one of the former students of my ninjustu class.

"Traitor!" He snarled, and threw a punch, which I blocked. We fought for a while, fists and feet flying, until I defeated him by throwing him to the ground and grabbing his head as if to twist it.

"You know better than that." I said calmly. "I never am, and never was a traitor. How are the others?"

"Some have died fighting. Others have gone into hiding, but it's only a matter of time before they're caught." Mark replied, and I let him go. "Sensei is one of those who have gone underground."

"You know where he went?"

"No. But I do know he'll cause trouble for the soldiers."

I nodded and smiled slightly. Sensei Bento would definitely be a problem, being as he is a ninja of almost Jonin class. The only way he'll be caught is if he is killed, or gives himself up for a good reason. Better not tell the other soldiers.

I jumped up to the roof. Seems to me that there's still flashes of light from howitzers, but they'll end soon from the choppers now flying overhead. Bermuda is effectively under Hamdo's control now.

The last of the resistance has been destroyed, and now a contiguent of 1,000 soldiers patrol the streets of Bermuda in stolen cars. The rest of them took young people to add them to the growing military ranks. I sighed, as we trudged back to the landing boats. I wonder how long it will be before most of the world is under Hamdo's control before he would be stopped. I suppose it's going to be WWII all over again. As the salty breeze washed over me, I wondered what's next for the future.

We request that you cease and disist this form of action at once. Failure to comply will result in economic sanctions. We also request that a peace conference be set up so we can talk peace instead of all of this war. In war, civilians die and we want to make sure that no more civilians are killed. Our military is mighty. ((OOC:: Is ignoring the starships because I have more people than you do and I don't have space navy yet.)) If you don't come to talk, we just might be forced into action.

OOC: I will ignore spacecraft larger than 500 meters, just so you guys know. All I have are X-wings (and one squadron at the moment) but I rarely use them.

Hamdo snorted in disdain at the yaps of the pups called Corneliu and Fedral Union (although it may be a bit troublesome later), and sent back a message:

Hamdo hopes to drag the talks on long enough to build up his military (at the expense of the rest of the budget, especially education) in order to strike with impunity at even slightly larger nations. Having concluded his short message, he turned back to his military buildup plan. It calls for heavy logistics crew as well as numerous warcraft and small arms. He also sought to solve the problem of WWII's Operation Barbarossa, where Germany attacked Russia, only to be bogged down come winter. Avoiding cold areas might help, but in the event that isn't possible, he would order cold weather gear to be issued to men and equipment, and also to stop fighting until spring, if possible. Unlike Hitler, he would allow retreat at the field commander's descretion.

OOC: Weird having an Island as small as Bermuda (22 sq. miles) with uranium mines. I always thought it was just limestone. And be careful not to get your tanks stuck if you try and take back the Islands.

As you know, I'm more of a Star Wars nation, so my lasers are at most as powerful as medium turbolasers (like the Falcon's). Raw power defeats 'shield frequency' every time, I think. Won't use them unless absolutely necessary, though.

Tensions between the two nations are so high, it'll take a lightsaber to cut through. The Iowa-class battleship Hellfire eyeballs the New York-class battleship, and steams into position to gain a firing solution. The first shot from a ship would spark a nasty air/sea war between Coreworlds and Fedral Union plus allies.

Sea Raptors and F-14 Super Tomcats patrol the skies above the water, keeping up with enemy craft.

Upon recieving missile warnings, the newly formed 1st Imperial Super-Fleet shot down most of the enemy missiles, and retaliated with Harpoons and Cruise missiles of their own. Several ships recieved medium damage from Fedral Union's ships. A frigate exploded and sank to the bottom.

The Hellfire immediately started pounding the other battleship with missiles and 16" guns.

Fighters dodged the Avenger enemy fighters, and unleashed advanced Phoenixes on the farthest planes. Those planes that were closer were pounced upon by Sea Raptors with Sidewinders and Sparrows. 4 planes were lost in the initial assault.

Underwater, the submarines gained firing solutions on the Corneliu fleet and unleashed torpedoes at them.

OOC: I'm treating your plasma shells as high-yield incendaries, and quantum torpedoes as ordinary (but still powerful) ones since the most advanced weapons I use are lasers. I haven't developed plasma weapons yet. I did say that several ships took damage.

Defense satellites come online, and start targeting and firing at any enemy craft in sight, dealing terawatts of destructive red energy bolts at them. Avengers are also targeted to aid the fighters.

Meanwhile, two destroyers were sunk, and a cruiser was heavily damaged by the Longbows, who, in turn were attacked by an Untouchable-class battleship, designed as an antiair platform. It's red lasers and antiair missiles stab into the sky at the enemy craft.

Missiles from Corneliu:

Antimissile batteries chew several missiles into scrap metal. Although a lot were destroyed, several got throught the defense screens due to decoys, and impacted on two destroyers, a battleship and a carrier. Fortunately, most of the planes off the carrier were in battle, and solight fires erupted, and were put out fast. One of the destroyers were so heavily damaged it had to be scuttled, and the other lost it's 5-inch forward.

Retaliation came in the form of Harpoons that skimmed extremely close to the water, and then popped up, aiming for big targets.

Once of the subs blew up upon impact from the torpedoes that the Defender-craft unleashed. The other one used countermeasures and successfully evaded the other ones. A battleship was heavily damaged by the enemy fire, and cruisers attack with missiles at those who are shooting at their larger comrades.

4 Satellites are destroyed, and the others concentrate fire upon the closest Defiant, combining their energy as if one powerful bolt was shot at it. They keep doing this to every Defiant in the area.

F-14D Super Tomcats break and shoot missiles at the Longbows. F/A-18 SuperHornets likewise target the Defender ships with MK-50 torpedoes, hoping to take them out. The remaining active battleships also target the Defenders, with the 16" and 8" shells, no less.

(The Type II flux torpedo launcher employs an advanced tactical sensor system which improves accuracy of the torpedo delivery. OOC: The miltiary makes no distinction between nukes and other weapons with equivelent power (including the antimatter torpedoes and missiles). Besides, the message is 1/2 propaganda, but you don't know that IC.

IC:
The 2 squadrons of F-22s engage and duel the Longbows to take them off the B-52s. Even so, three of them were destroyed before they could launch the cruise missiles. All the rest launch the fuel-air cruise missiles at the enemy fleets, before dying to missiles. Only one bomber would escape the carnage.

2 cruise missiles are aimed at the Melforlian fleet that are picked up by satellite. The rest make their way to Fedral Union's fleet.

Where did they come from? They need time to come to the theater of operations (a day, at the very least for the sea ships, and they can be picked up by sats)! By the time they come, the battle should be almost finished. Be realistic!

IC:
The Hellfire engages the New York after recieving some damage from it. It fires a broadside attack (1/2 of all weapons fire upon it; a powerful punch).

The admiral aboard the Nightstalker asks the Emperor for reinforcements, but is told that it'll be at least 2 days before they arrive. He swore, and told the remaining fleet to concentrate all firepower upon the Fedral Union fleet. Every gun and missile is trained on the largest and/or most powerful enemy craft around and attacks them. 2 more cruisers are sunk.

10 more fighters fall to enemy fire, and the remaining fighters regroup and duel the remaining avengers. The F-22s attack the longbows, including the new ones.

OOC: We should decide how this battle should be won by one side or the other. How many ships do you have left? I still have a little more than half remaining.

Off the town of St. George's people could see the flashes of light that denoted fighting on the high seas, as ships fought and died.

Fighters not already engaged with Fedral Union's craft broke to duel the newcomers. They had to land and refuel/rearm first, so that took a while. With at least one carrier out of commission and another damaged, it was up to cruisers and destroyers to handle the fighters, throwing SM-2 missiles at the incoming fighters and bombers.

F-14Ds met up with the enemy F-16s and lobbed missiles at them.

The Fourth Core Fleet is on its way and will be in the area within 12 hours. Already, they throw long-range cruise missiles and fighters into the fray.

Many of the soldiers are under 18, and some of them are even as young as ten, which is the main reason why the Colonel surrendered. The horror of kids dying from bullet and bomb wounds is almost too much for him. He is glad they avoided the bloodshed that would have come otherwise.

Meanwhile, Bermudians cheer and dance in the streets to the tune of the Gombeys in celebration of their freedom. The Premier, Alex Scott recently requested an audience with the highest-ranking military officers that freed the small British colony to thank them for their help.
