Ray has a unique armament. Its primary weapons are two eight shot Missile launchers, two revolver reloaders. Each reloads after each fire, and fired Cruise Missile several thousand feet up before it attacks it's target.
Secondary weapons are thirty two Maverick Ninth Generation missiles. They are all fired by a onboard computer. Another weapon is two 30mm GAU-23 cannons, with almost twice the volocity of the GAU-8. Each has 4,000 rounds of ammo. Finally, there are 6 cluster bomb launchers for short range fitted on its back.
Its armor is top quality. Only large weapons such as 155mm Electro Thermal Chemical Cannons could do damage to it, and even then the rounds must be SABOT. The armor is very thin yet incredibly strong, and nano machined.
Aside from having armor made of ceramic-titanium alloy, RAY could 'heal' itself. The armor had a response system which reacted to damaged areas. Electronic signals to 'injured' areas could be redirected to backup circuits and malfunctioning sections could be shut down altogether. Punctures in RAY's armored body were be temporarily sealed by a nanopaste released from valves near the damaged area. Thus, it almost seemed like Ray is bleeding.
The color of the nanopaste is a dark brownish-red.
RAY had an onboard Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, which was it’s homing system. It also allowed other Rays to fight and work together.
Despite Ray‘s massive size and weight, it was by far the most agile of models. Ray also was equipped with artificial muscle tissue made of macromolecular fiber. The muscle tissue, which resembled that of humans, enabled swift, nimble movements, giving it a graceful look in action.
Probably RAY's greatest advantage was the fact it was amphibious, enabling it to move secretly through the sea. Its underwater capability greatly increased its operational range over previous Metal Gears. RAY could change positions at will by sneaking ashore and then firing at any surface target. This means it is very versatile.
The motive of creating Ray was solely for counter-missile strikes, and most importantly, an anti-Mech. You can say Ray was designed for defensive motives rather than an all out offensive strike like the previous Mechs. This is why Ray is outfitted with nanopaste in addition to armor. Ray’s job was to “render all Mechs obsolete” in other words, Ray was designed to destroy any kind of Mech model.
It is a one man crew best, and the cockpit is state of the art. The control system is much like flying a jet, with simplified controls etc. It is a state of the art vehcile, and is here for you today.
