i ordered my top scientist to revive a old 100 year old railway gun captured during WWII. the Dora...it has been updated to shoot 10 times its old range of 47 miles to 470 miles... it will be able to carry a tact nuke (not gonna get it yet) and other type of warheads.
http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Lab/1167/dora3.jpg

it will be in service in 1 year time as a coastal gun and a long range arty.

its Shell travel at 104 1/6 Mps but once it reaches 50 miles(which slows down), it will discard its protection and be propelled by a Rocket booster to give it the additional 420 Miles range. it takes about 8-10 min for it to hit its target.

preorder: $1 billion per unit.

What will you use this cannon for?

this is so stupid...
270 miles is nothing
the usa have nukes on their own land and they can travel to any country on the earth and i wouldnt be surprised if they could go 2 the moon (that was an exageration).
and y stick 2 nukes
do sumthing useful like invent the water powered car and then patent it so then all countries will buy manufactured goods from ur country

Not if it is a defensive cannon, then 890 miles should suffice at blowing up reasonably large and slow targets.

Reminds of Saddam's nice idea which got torpedoed.

Not bad, assuming it's a semi-mobile defencive weapon. Sort of a middle ground between heavy, fixed guns, and lighter, more modile towed and self-propelled artilery.

OOC:
I belive he's talking about the SuperGun a Canadian ballistics expert designed for him; it would have been a massive fixed gun that could have bombarded, say, Isreal, for example.

The guy's dream was to build a gun that could launch satalites into space someday(but not the gun in question), but he was assanated by Isreal befor he finished Saddam's project. He had, however, provided Saddam with improved artillery and some other things.

lame weapon and 5 billion is a bit overpriced for such junk. You can get tons of nukes cheaper than that.

Project Deus ex machina just released 3 more geostationary satellites to keep an eye on your activities. we didn't prompt it. it did it of it's own accord.

Unless they use AOE interdiction weapons. ('50s concept of nuke in atmosphere is an overkill example.)

whats AOE ?

OOC:
Well, there are some lasers that were being developed to intercept artillery shells, coinciding with the United States of America's anti-ballistic missle laser (ABL) program. Possibly that's what he's talking about.

Assuming you mean iRL, the ABL is the AirBorne Laser; iirc it's a converted 747 mounting a chemical laser in the nose designed to burn through the missile's thin aluminium housing and detonate the rocket propellent during the boost stage(ie it has to be on-station in the general vicinity of the launch site).

Starwars was completely different; using a constilation of laser-armed satalites to destroy warheads during the balistic phase of their trip(iirc).

I haven't heard anything about lasers designed to shoot down arty; those shells'd likly be signifigantly tougher nuts to crack, and could be launched in such quantitys as to make interception of a signifigant percentage unfeasible.

EDIT: Here we are (http://www.airbornelaser.com/)

OOC:
I know about the ABL, I'm assuming it's the only project the United States hasn't abandoned in the anti-ballistic missle laser projects the country started.

Area Of Effect weapons, like a bomb detonated in the air to knock everything away. In the '50s, the US wanted to fire nuclear missiles into the skies to knock down Soviet planes, but then they figured out radiation... and that went away. However, in NS, some country (*cough* *me* *cough*) could use another form of sky-clearing explosives, such as Pure Hydrogen bombs or Fuel Air to blast everything clean. I know myself and AT LEAST three other nations have varying systems of this nature.

Also, there is a US/Israeli project to create a laser system that could knock out missiles and artillery. I forget the name, but it's quite effective in trials, and should replace the Patriot batteries.

Raysia has a Sky Cleaner AA gun, I believe.

My country is developing a countermeasure to it, since my country's military doctrine says only one thing.

Airforce.

How do you hold territory, Zvarinograd, without army units?
Zvarinograd
15-01-2004, 08:58
OOC:
I didn't mean I am devoid of land forces, it is simply that my military emphasizes airpower. Though, my land forces are only there to take hold of my territory (thus, resulting in my land forces being weak for a nation of my size) and I do not have any naval forces.
