OOC: ok y'all, I've made a post on this forum, so we can continue this little conflict a little easier, without having to worry about anything being deleted from doing regional forum posts. Have fun! By the way, OOC stands for "out of character", basically meaning that you want to say something from yourself, and not from the nation. IC stands for "in character", the opposite of OOC. Duh..as if you couldn't figure that out lol.

IC:
A knock rapped loudly and urgently on the president's door.

"Come in." was the reply.

In walked the president's trusted friend and subordinate, with a rather worried look on his face.

"What's the matter, Dave?" asked President Marshall.

"Sir, I'm afraid I've got some terrible news. We have just recieved a telegram from the "Empire of Watching From Below" and they have threatened to release a single nuclear weapon upon us. The Empire has not given any reason to this as well."

Marshall read the telegram, shook his head, and then looked up at Dave, his jaw set, his eyes deadly cold.

"Ok, get me all the information we have on the Empire and I shall immediately wire a telegram inquiring as to the nature of their hostility. Secondly, inform the Department of Defense and tell them that I want the military on high alert, our satellites focusing on the Empire. Thirdly, I will soon give you copies of a letter I want to have delivered to all the nations of Or Idastan, except for the Empire of course, and ask for their support in this apparent declaration of hostility. As you can see here in the telegram, they have hinted a threat to attempt to not only attack Tarlachia, but also to overtake the region. This must be stopped."

"Yes sir" was all Dave said, and quickly left the room, hardly believing the situation. "Out of my way!" he cried to the people in the hallways, shoving past them as he headed toward his destinations...

::34 minutes later::

"Sir, we have some responses from some of the other nations already. Three nations so far have pledge unlimited support for us, and one has declared their intent to remain neutral." Dave reported to the President, also handing the President some more intelligence on the Empire.

Marshall nodded, accepted the intelligence, and read over the list of supporting nations.

Dave continued, "The military is already in high alert, our people are in contact with the Empire, but no progress has been made as of this moment. Naval and Air Forces are redeploying to key strategic areas along our borders. We also have reports of our satellites making final adjustments in their orbits. We have a half a dozen Su-37 Hawks that are routinely patrolling our skies over the border, supported by two F-16 Fighters per Su. If a nuclear weapon is launched, we will know it well in advance, and the Su's will be able to intercept it and destroy it. They are also supported by SAMs located near the borders which will further strengthen our defenses."

"Good, good, good" was the reply from the President, waving the dismissal of Dave...

A brunette woman quickly hurried her preparations for her coverage of an important announcement just about to be issued by President Marshall.

"And you're on in 5...4...3...2...1..." the cameraman called out.

"Hi I'm Melissa, reporting live for Channel 12 News, Tarlachia's national news station. We are at the capital, where President Marshall is about to issue an apparently important announcement. Judging from the talks making the rounds, we have been able to determine that the announcement is of extreme national security, a level that has not been encountered in our peaceful nation ever. People are nervous, but confident that their President knows what he is doing. I have with me here, Todd Darsh, a long time fan of the president, who is going to give us thoughts. Todd?"

In a not so educated manner of speaking, Todd spoke, "Uh yeah, the presiden' is got some big (beep) problems goin' on, somthin' to do wit' ar national defenseses. Ah hope tha' Marshall will have the guts to stand up to the problem, and kill those sons of..."

The camera and mic was yanked away, Melissa kind of embarrased. "Thank you Todd...and here is the President now." All eyes turned toward the President at the endorned podium.

"Ladies and gentlemen of Tarlachia, I have terrible news for you. Our nation, which we have worked so hard to build up, and create peaceful ties with other nations, is now being threatened with a single nuclear weapon from the Empire of Watching From Below." He paused, allowing this to sink in. "We have already alerted our forces to Defcon 3, and they are ready to move into action if necessary. And for those leaders of Watching From Below out there, I have two things to say to you: One, your arrogant and unjustified threat is absurd, but nonetheless, we will not back down and cower before you. Currently we have several foreign nations who have openly declared their support for Tarlachia, and as we stand together, I can only notice that you are a single nation, threatening a single attack. Be aware, that if your attack commences, Tarlachia's forces, and it's allies will declare war on you, and the consequences for you shall be severe. Tarlachia is still going to try to maintain peace in the region, but the ball is in your court now. We will not stand for this arrogance and ignorance of a smaller nation threatening our own. You have been warned."

And with that, the President turned and left the stage, and the crowd immediately grew deafeningly loud as the people conversed among themselves excitedly.

"And there you have it, a declaration of stance against a foreign threat, issued by President Marshall. Thank you and this is Melissa from Channel 12 News."
