Secret event

10-01-2004, 08:32
This is a secret event.
John Harold sat down at his seat infront of the desert.

Commentator: We are all ready for our first test.

Suddenly a B-2 flew over head and dropped a thing it fell a long way down lower and lower until it was just above the ground.
Suddenly in the things place was a big shineing ball of fire that was flying up and up, it suddenly expanded and a hemisphere appeared. The hemesphere expanded and expanded with the ground infront of it being pushed forwared.

Suddenly the hemisphere disappeared and a Radioactive cloud appeared.

Midlonia
10-01-2004, 08:43
no. to have nukes you have to have a population of some 200 million people....you need to be about 1-2 months old to have that many people... so no nukes for you..........

30 days & 100M is generally accepted.
10-01-2004, 08:44
OOC: Do I really need 100,Million?. Im not going to have many so I dont see why I need 100,Million to support them. Ill have about 5 at first.

One hundred million people? Better tell Britain, France, and Israel that...freakin n00bs

Yat, you're ready for WMD when you think you are, and at no other point. If people don't like it, hey they don't have to pay attention to you. If for some misguided reason they do, like a pack of monkeys flinging their poop at a newcomer, just ignore them. Chances are, they're not the sort you'd want to interact with anyway.

France, Britain, and Israel don't have a population gain of 4 - 6 million every day.

Midlonia, how about you read my name first? It's right there to the left of my post...rather easy to find, considering.

No, this game is not based upon real life. So what? I've read the rules, and they tell me one thing: this is a free form role play. He has the right to develop nuclear weapons whenever he wants. You have the right to ignore it, but you do not have the right to flame his topics, call him a 'n00b' or any other provocative and insulting names, or demand that he stop what he's doing.

Layarteb, that's true. I never claimed that this game was based on reality. I simply stated three countries - regardless of birth rates - that have nuclear weapons. It wasn't the center or even a main part of my argument.

The Empire of Roycelandia would like to know where you managed to acquire Nuclear Weapons from?

We are of the understanding that you are a relatively small nation, and are of the concern that your nuclear weapons program's security might be easily compromised.

ooc:Oh man, the ruuules! Those rules! Wait.. what rules? Some folk around here are going to die of stress related disorders if they aren't very much careful.

..Although on a complete tangent I think it's worth noting that it's not easy to keep a nuclear test a complete secret for long, there are ways of detecting such things.

Uhm, I'd congratulate Yatonsa on its scientific leap, but Walmington isn't one of those nations with the means to detect a nuclear event.. I mean, unless it occurs in the middle of Great Walmington or something.. which it had jolly well better not! (Nazi Germany I'm looking at you..)

(Oh, and plenty of those nations do exist in Nation States. Many times over, in fact. Walmington happens to be closely allied with Britain, though in our universe they haven't a nuclear capability as yet.)

Fine I made the Nukes myself. I thought that at this age you could have them. Anyway I dont so please pretend this never happend.

Yo Yatonsa, don't let them get you down. It had the quick making of an interesting RP.

Ladies and gentlemen, I suggest before everyone piled on here, that maybe taking the time to wait and see where they were going with this might have helped.

For example, my first post on NS involved a nuclear accident near my capital, and I had some decent RP out of it instead of everyone screaming...

OMG Y0US3 CAN7 HVE N00KS 0R 7H!NGS LIKE THAT!!!!!11!!!1!!!!1111!!!

After all, Iansisle has a point, this is a free form RP. If we're going to have rules, then at what population can you have space craft? And does it matter if your nation is based in the 1940's once you hit that magic pop number you magically get a shuttle or something else?

And then if we're going to lay down the law, what about other allegedly godmoddie things, like elves, vampires, demons and what have you? What point does future tech go to far? Does this ATHENA Radar thing exist, cause it's future tech?

Jesus Christ people, it's just a game!

So I am allowed to have them?. And also they are not that hard to maintain. Maintaining a building is harder than maintaining them. Cant this one just slip away?. Ill keep to the rules as long as I have the right to WMDs.
10-01-2004, 14:44
Fine ill wait. I will wait till a certain point. 100, Million pop. Very well.

It all depends on if you can roleplay them properly. If you simply answer any threat to your nation with "suddenly your country was destroyed by a swarm of nukes", you'll get ignored. However if you can roleplay well, there's no reason you shouldn't have them from day one. Learning good roleplay generally takes practice, which is why newly-born nations with nukes are often ignored, but anybody who claims this as a hard rule that cannot be deviated from under any circumstance deserves a good whack on the head.

In fact, people, think about it - is the starting date displayed on the forums really when your nation was "created"? I would think not - many people roleplay their nations as having existed, but just not cared much about international affairs, for centuries before they started roleplaying - not as having magically appeared on the map one day.

So the big question, do I think Yatonsa is a good roleplayer? Judging from that one post - and one post really isn't enough to determine someone's skill - I would say: not yet. But skill can only come with practice, and he can only practice if people are willing to play with him.

So my verdict is: SOFTEN UP, PEOPLE!
10-01-2004, 15:26
Am I allowed to have them?. I can handle them, I wouldnt just use them for the sake of useing them. I would use them only as a last resort and for roleplay purposes.
Milostein
10-01-2004, 16:07
Yes, you may. Not 238742095387 of them, of course, but having a few is fine, and don't listen to anyone who says otherwise.
11-01-2004, 01:55
How about 4 because I just used one on that test.
