Yes they were. With armor and a gun :) It's what I like to call, "target."

we have about 24 or 25 old T-72 Tanks that where in warehouses after we defeated the Asian Dictatorial Empire. there where atleast 40 of these tanks left over from the war, but most of them where melted down to improve the country's infrastructure after we gained independance. 50,000 dollars a tank (a incredible bargin, considering that most tanks on NS cost atleast 2-3 million).

OOC:actually soviet had a great tanks, one of the best tank designs ever was the t.34 altough its a bit out of date.

My factories regurarly produce T-80U's so if you want to place an order go ahead.

Soviet tanks are quite good, as long as you look only at the standard specs. Looking at the information on most sources, you see that they have similar armor and firepower, but at much lighter weight and with a smaller target profile. In addition, their active and passive defense systems provide significant advantages over many weapons. They're also a lot cheaper

However, these sources don't state everything, and while they are billed as killers of western tanks, this isn't entirely true. Soviet tanks pay dearly for their light design, and have only a fraction of the internal space of western tanks. To improve the stats, they sacrifice many protective features found on western tanks. The end result is that a soviet tank is pretty much a goner if takes a good penetrating hit. It will be often be rocked and torn to pieces by internal ammunition and fuel explosions, turning it into an unsalvagable heap, and the crew's pretty much as good as dead. Western tanks on the other hand, while they will be knocked out by such a hit, will often still be salvagable, and the protective systems mean that there's even a decent chance for some or all of the crew to survive. In the end, western tanks will be replaced more quickly, as damaged units can be repaired in the field and sent back to the lines, and the greater crew survival rate means there will be a lesser shortage of experience crew members. Soviet units have to wait for factory fresh replacements and green recruits.

Western tanks also have better fire control, higher rates of fire, and better communications.

The T-34 was a similar design. It sacrificed numerous comforts and protective features found on western tanks, and would generally not be tolerated by anyone from a western nation. It also suffered from a rather weak gun (Soviet WWII guns were generally well under par). However, those same failures meant it was cheap and easy to mass-produce. That was its real strength.

Well wasn't T-34 actually overkill on Panzer III and Panzer IV and many others german tanks. And first the crew didn't need to survive from destroyed T-34 because guns of German tanks didn't penetrate it's armor.
