Desert Storm...

Sambizie Peace Keepers
06-01-2004, 01:59
A tall man stands on the Place wall of Sambizie. The wind blowing in his hair as the clouds drift ever so silently past the full moon this night. In the distance faint flashes of light...later the sound, not that of a storm on the horizon, but that of incoming troops. This, the once proud Empire of the Sambizie will meet fate from the last stronghold of the once proud Sambizie. For two days now refugees from the outlining cities and village steadly flow past Mwto'ars Palace. Shellshocked and stunned from being ripped from their life and disposed of in the streets, some hold anger and others hold hope...Hope that the Empire will return and restore if at least, only their honor. Holding their heads in somber, the weaping women, men and child can only lift their heads but a moment to take one final look at the last thing they lived so long for...The Emperors Palace.

The smell of death blows under the General's nose as a subordinate approaches him...
"Well...what's the news brother?"
Worse than we thought sir, the tribes have united...I've just come from Gh'handa...theirs not much left...
[color=darkgreen]"Do we know who is behind this yet?"
We have our suspicions but due to the defections, nothing to validify the sourses sir...
[color=darkgreen]Hmmm..This reaks of Utto'ar...
I wasn't going to say it sir, but I believe you are correct...
[color=darkgreen]And the military?
All but disolved sir...the tribes spred everywhere, buy the thousands. Hell I've even seen tanks "stripped"...I dunno sir...At last I heard that there were in excess of 50 different "tribes" declaring independance...

The General shook his head in discust, "Damn them!" He puts hand on the shoulder of the young man, "Well..no sence in holding on...take a good look around and remember this day...", he stated as he bagan to "mix" in the flow of the bloodied refugees...[i]

[i]Last Message Dispatched by the former Sambizie Empire...

We have further learned that the pre-emptive strike of post #Su 287 was just the begining. Upon undergoing several attacks during the course of a couple weeks, what was thought to be "protestors", was actually "systematic" assult. Firstly, the data that was destroyed in this station was that of former "Protectorate" higherarchy. In addition, the barcode identification "batch" numbers were destroyed. We now have no way of tracking these individuals.

Several hundred thousand military personell and equipment have defected from the main Empire and are fortifying the national boarders. All major military bases have been either captured or burnt to the ground.

Emperor,
Their are some 50+ factions consisting of leaders and our equipment. Six villages along whith, what is apprehent by the nightly bombings, Mwatsana AFB. For now the factions are headed towards the Capitol, they should arrive within a day. I the entire region will soon be in "their" control. Mwto'ar...the regional defences have been comprimised....

1830 hrs, Sharique Military Checkpoint:
10 miles North of Sharique....

The first wave of refugees arrive by the thousands. Consisting mostly of women, children and those fortunate enough to escape. Their faces covered in charred, bloodstained ash, except from where the tears have been fallen. Word of this uprising, roit, war, or however you want to address it, spred throughout the nation. Men and their sons take to arms to protect that in which they own. By this is not about posessions, it is about change. Change for an abandoned empire...

"The Border is Closed", shouts a soldier...
"Let us pass", a weaping woman with child said...
"Go back to your homes", shouted another soldier...
"What homes...wher do we go...help us" the crowd starts to yell.
"Leave or you'll be arrested", a soldied yells in a threatening tone...
"Go ahead arrest us...Where were you when our houses were being burned...huh...where were you!!!"
"I said leave...turn back", shouted a soldier as he fires his rifel into the air...pop...pop...pop....

The crowd "flintches" for a moment...Then all hell breaks loose....

The 50 cal. gun mounts on the two Olifant's standing guard begin to open fire...after what seemed like an eternity, thousands of Sambizie refugees lie dead.

1450hrs:

It is evident that the military and police forces have formed an alliance and are now the strongest of the seperate factions. These two factions have been able to bring equipment superiority, as the have siezed most of the "stores". The "Free Sambizie Air Force" (FSAF) have begun strategic bombings throughot the city early this morning, as the Free Military and Police Forces continue to press into the city. Even now, the shells of long range artillerly pound the city's perimeter from all directions...The citizens and the Emperor Guard have been evacuating for two days now, but at least 100 million are unaccounted for as of this hour.

There is still no official word from the Emperor concerning, what is now evident, a "Governmental Change".....

Pillers of smoke rise into the Sambizie landscape allowing only brief moments of sunlight to "peek" through. Entire cities burnning to the ground, brings about a "rank" odor. The nation is in a State of Emergency, all and any foreign military intervention will be considered hostile to all factions at the present time. OOC-Gotcha... Too used to the future Sambizie...
IC-
The Private sat on the bunk, cleaning out the gunk that had accumulated in the chamber of his M32. He scrubbed, looking at his reflection in the shine of the cleaned weapons parts. With trained skill, the rifle came back together, metal clinking in the plastic and polymer frame. His gear was ready, he had written his letters, and the scuttlebut had confirmed what he was hearing. They were going to Sambizie. It was a surprise for him, most associated the nation with the space battles between them and the ShaRa. But this was different for him, for all of the 10th. The men around him were doing the same, preparing for a war they never saw coming. The entire troopship was alive with activity, as the 10th and Carrier Battle Fleet prepared for battle. OOC2-I'm assuming this is the Sambizie map... So bear with me here.
Far west of the island tha Uganda was situated on, a submarine, it's "caterpillars" pushing it along, began to surface. It was a huge vessel, designed to be a stealthy way to put as many missiles into the theatre of battle as possible. It's 128 VLS cells would do it well. 20 columns of fire arced toward the sites listed as Regional Defenses that would be a threat, each missile capable of bunker-busting with a time fused explosive warhead.
Inside the Launch bay of the NESS North Islands and it's sister ship, the 10,000 man landing force sat in their LCACs, looking like sci-fi movie characters in their body armor and SLICS helmets. SLICS was based on the premise of Battlefield Intelligence. Give every soldier a camera and Vital signs monitor, you know what your men are doing, and they can coordinate. They were locked and loaded, and ready for action. It would be the first combat landing since Markov.
Dear Mom and Dad,
It's just me, telling you there's some stuff coming up.
Heavy metal and hard rock blasted over the stereos, it was the sort of things they all listened to. Men double checked their weapons, going over their plans one last time before the real combat started.
I don't want to worry you, but I can't lie. We're going into battle.
The roar of the LCAC's engines began to fill the bay.
It's gonna be dangerous, Dad knows that from his time in the Service. But I'm surrounded by people who know what they're doing. We all do.
The landing craft began to accelerate, toward the far off beaches of Sambizie. A flight of F-108 Warhammer passed overhead, the 4 aircraft armed with JDAMs and cluster bombs, making sure the beach was clear.
Anyway, I'll talk to you later. We have to be ready for whatever these guys throw at us. Don't worry about what the NENN guys have to say on this, we're not idiots, and neither are the guys leading us.

Sincerely, your son.

National Capitol, Uganda City
1830hrs-Day 2

[i]The final hour of the Sambizie rulership over the Peacekeepers has now passed...In the distance the horizon is dotted with pillers of smoke. The smoke soon turns to flame as the sun begins to set. It has now been 48 hours since the initial takeover. The refugees continue to pour into and passed the Capitol city alongside tank colums. For now, no nations flag blows above the former Emperors palace. A little girl holding her mothers hand stops dead in front of the palace entrance. She looks up at her mother and points to the sky, "Look mommy, theres an airplane up in the sky..." The little girl reached for the flower in her hair, slowly removed it and tossed it on the steps as a last tribute to the Emperor...

On the desert road leading to Uganda, a small convoy consisting of several fully armed Humvees, a black limousine, and an escort of 8 Ka-53 Gunships, speed towards Uganda. To the convoys right, dust storms of the approaching tank colums. On the left, storms created by the millions of feet.

The convoy stops at the entrance of the Palace. It is quickly, almost instantly, "corded" off by members of the military. "Who is it...is it Mwto'ar?" questions a passerby. "Keep moving!" a soldier tells them. No matter, they are too far away to see. Emerging from the limo first is a rather "strong" looking man. He steps out to salutes from the passengers and those around him. He begins to shake hands with the others as a second person steps out of the limo. This time it's a woman...oddly familiar looking to some, like a face without a name.

The party walks into the Palace where whats left of the news networks have gathered. The man steps to the podium and point at the person video taping...

I am General Thelious Ghanwana, Leader of the Free Sambizie Forces! We declare our...no we demand our voices be heard. For far too long, this nation has been run by an ever absent Emperor. Our money, our work, and for what? I know...the Emperor's Fleet. Why after we worked so hard these many years have we not seen any rewards, not to mention thanks. We have been "Ignored" by the Empire no longer...for today our voices wiil be...must be heard.

I wish to open immidiate talks with the leaders of APTO. We relise your dedication to the Sambizie, we ask for you to hear our side before entering this nation guns blazing...If their is a more diplomatic bunch, you will understand our request. We are STILL Sambizie. Our skin has not changed, just our beliefs. Please do not send any military to assist, everything will soon be under control. I wish to introduce to you all, a person who will have a key part of the Free Sambizie Forces...

He gestures for the woman to approach the podium and introduce herself....

As the LCACs slammed onto the western beaches, the first things off were the Super Fox IFVs, a New Empirian/New Genoan armored vehicle. The 10 IFVs moved onto the beach, as marines took up their positions behind them. As this first wave dug in, the commanders with higher communications access began picking up the Free Sambizie radio transmissions.
Unit commanders called off probing reconissance forces, as the intel officers crowded around TV and Laptop screens.
As this aired, a message was sent to the Free Sambizie leadership.
This is the UCSNE. We're listening.

At this hour, massive fires continue to rage in the Uganda NW Sector. Emergency crews have been dispatched however, due to the millions of refugees flowing towards the stadium complex in the Norther Sector, the emergency crews are at a literal stand still. It has further been reported that mobs have turned over several fire trucks and ambulances for medical supplies and water.

Several faction leaders have meet with the "former" General Thelious Ghanwana. These leaders are doing everything to ensure the rebuilding efforts in Sambizie. It has been reported that Gen. Bala'wanda, (98 miles NW of Uganda City)

Approx. 340,000 refugees have been forced from their homes by an unidentified faction. As the journey to Uganda is to far for them to walk, they have been reported to be heading in the direction of the USNE beach encampment. The Spokesperson for the FSF have declined association with the unidentified faction. It has been roumered that, General Thelious has dispatched messengers to the various faction leaders in effort to meet and discuss the future of the Peacekeepers....

The encampment, now fully entrenched, sprawled throughout a small area of beach. LCACs came on in a cycle, offloading equipment.

"Holy..."
The soldier looking through the computerized scope placed on the 14.5mm MG took a ballpark estimate of the huge mass approaching. Maybe 300,000... Maybe more. The second Marine picked up the "Datapulse" Mk33 Secure Comset and called into base. Things were about to get a lot more complicated.
--
The 2 Wasp IIW "Whiskies" moved from their hover over the Carrier as they took off to a path toward the encampment. Each went low, skimming the terrain, and pulled higher as they skirted about 400 yards from the mass of people.

Speeding through the desert like a heard of zebra, 10 Hummers, "close" in on the refugees. The people look up at the hovering USNE Helos and it seems the entire crowd is in near panic and disaray. A sizeable group "rushes" towards the USNE Line. Some with anger in their eyes, some with gratitude...

Comming in hot out of the NE, a squadron of Ka-52's. The 10 attack helios are on an intercept course, eta. 10min. As the helios "skirt" across the desert, some momentarly disappear behind the massive dunes.
"Baka 1...Baka 1...Remember gentlemen, we are to observe only...do not fire unless fired upon...over....The pilot's confirm their orders.

Elsewhere in the desert....
Magushu AFB-1300 hrs.

As the desert heat reaches 110F, the call goes out..
"Launch Alert 5...Launch Alert 5..." From under desert cammo the Mig 21MF's "creep" onto the runway. "Advance radar indicate the pattern is clear Zulu Leader...you are cleared for takeoff", a voice stated. The lead fighter powered his thrusters and speed down the dirt runway. Seconds later, two additional fighters sped down the runway side by side...then the next two. The group climbs to high altitude as to cover more ground. Two fighters pull within feet of the lead jet. The other two spread out and "lag" behind the main group, giving monitoring radar sites the "3 man look"....ETA: 10min. to USNE positions....

The Hummers continue to push the people towards the USNE positions....

"Our Geosync will be active in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1. Bingo. SkyEye Bird1 is now in position. Patching into live feed."
The Raven's Roost section was the part of the Carrier used for flagship operations, it was covered in Datastations and screens. The admiral looked at the fuzzy image of the rear of the crowd, and motioned for the Marine commander to come over.
"We've got vehicles pushing them forward... Now they're rushing."
"Ah, Sir, we've got MiGs inbound, switching to doppler to confirm... Yeah, we've got around 3 to 5 coming in. Ten minutes to our position."
"Get CAP4 moving to cover the encampment. And tell the Marines to get the riot Cobras to the perimeter."
CAP4, or Perro Four Flight, consisting of 3 F-109Ns, veered from their patrol pattern around the CBG and moved to the area around the encampment.
Meanwhile, the Riot Cobras advanced. Each was equipped with a slew of non-lethal weapons. Atop the 4 wheeled armored cars was a large dish. It was based upon the American "Pain Beam", a microwave emitter that could give the target a painful burning sensation, and a high pressured nozzle with "Slipgel", a gel that had very little friction, which could cause anyone in the affected area to fall to the ground, or vehicles to lose traction. The marines inside were also equipped with Grenade launchers and non-lethal CS and Flashbang grenades. Loudspeakers emitted a message "Please move back and return to your homes."
Nervous Marines sat in their trenches as the droning different from that of the Wasp II became audible, that of the Sambizie "Hokums".
Sambizie Peace Keepers
10-01-2004, 04:20
The Hokum Commander gives the orders as they arrive...

"This is Baka 1..commence with holding pattern Omega-Zata-Two." Five Hokums swoop down to just over 300 feet and begin to fly circles above the crowd. Every few minutes another Hokum would rotate in.

"Baka 1...Baka 1 identify the vehicles.." The Commander looks at his co-pilot, "What the hell are those Hummers doing?...Their driving them into the USNE lines..." "I wan't a status report!.."

Just then, accompanied by a sonic boom, the instrument panel went red and the alarm confirmed that their helo had been target locked..."Who the hell is targeting us?..."Pull UP PULL UP..." As the words left the commanders lips, the helo was caught in the Mig's jetwash..Just then, the missile it had fired reached them, "Son of a B***...WERE HIT...WERE HIT...Cant control altitude...MAYDAY...MAYDAY...
The Hokum hit the ground..HARD in the crowd. The people began to panic and ran further into USNE forces. Due to the extreme amount of dust it was safer to say the people "scattered". "Damn it", the Lt. yelled over the com. "Baka 2...Baka 2...I want 3 and 4 to take care of those hummers NOW...we gotta give these people some room..."

Within minutes of the Hokums arrival, all hell had broken loose....

"Oh, sh*t!" and the like filled the coms as the Hokum slammed into the ground.
"Who was it?"
"I dunno, wasn't us..."
"All riot units, slipgel now, before they get in."
The nozzles on the Armored cars spurted the slippery substance all over the area in front of the people, which would cause any who got too close to the USNE lines to take a nasty fall. As the dust cloud enveloped the area, soldiers switched to thermal imaging.
"Ah, I'm seeing MiGs... They took down the Hokum."
"Rodeo this is Perro Four One, requesting permission to down those Fishbeds."
"Negative Perro, do not fire until fired upon."
"Rodeo, these guys are shooting sh*t down."
"Perro, we don't know who's who down there, and we aren't shooting till they shoot at us."

Two Hokums swoop down to 50 feet near the wreakage of the "downed" bird. It was evident at that point, there were people umong the crowd in possesion of firearms, as the small calibure bullets strike the sides of the Hokums, "Were Taking Fire" the pilot announced..."Status on the bird...any survivors" the LT questioned. At that very moment the Lt.'s Co-pilot announced, "They've made the turn...3 "bogies" inbound!"

"Baka 1 to Baka 6....Get those Migs off our a** NOW!"
"roger sir...they'll have to pass again..over...
"10-4 Pilot...I don't need play by play...just handle it...."
"roger that, we're on it...

2 of the higher altitude Hokums "broke off" and headed straight over USNE lines to the coast, where they hovered at 180 feet. The other three headed back out into the desert and were soon out of sight...

"INCOMMING", the pilot yelled..."HARD LEFT...HARD LEFT!", the Lt. shouted...The two were "slammed" against the side of the helo, almost knocking the wind out of them. The AAM from the Mig just missed the helo by inches. The missile slamed into the rear of the crowd. All that could been seen through the horrific dust, was a bright fireball...then the sand shook. The people tried harder to "crash" the USNE line, but they struggled in the "gel". Although the gel temporarly stopped them...The bodies of the fallen begin to pile up as some are trampled to death, while others on the bottom of the pile begin to drown on the gel. Those who have guns begin to fire at anything and everything...

As the Migs made their pass, the 3 Hokums that were hovering at 25 feet, "jumped" them from behind a sand dune..."NOW!", the lead pilot shouted. As the Migs streamed overhead the group fired the AARAM's and took a presuit course. The Migs split up but not before one of them disappeared in a hot ball of flame. The Hokums presued a Mig over the coast where it was "cornered" and ultimately jumped by the other Hokums holding at the USNE line. The Mig pilot ejected seconds before his plane smashed into the sea, 3 miles offthe coast. The other Migs headed for high altitude and easly out ran the Hokums within a few minutes.

S**T! now what? the LT. stated as the Mig pilot went down among the USNE Naval forces..."Damn...Let's get the hell out of here", the Lt. stated. "But what about the people sir..", the co-pilot questioned. "What about them...If we land they'll probally shoot us too, we got to get some ground troops down there" the Lt. said. "Yeah, guess your right", the co-pilot said as he clicked on the com.."Baka 2...Baka 2...All units return to base. Through it all, no one detected which direction the Hummers went to...

As the fallen bodies began to pile, men in the armored cars scrambled to load the canisters of polymer that would break it down and negate it. Once again the nozzles sprayed, this time in an effort to give the mass a chance to disperse. To move them along, the microwave dishes began to transmit their invisible energy, heating the water of the human body to give the feel of a painful sunburn, without the lasting effects. Soldiers in the trenchline loaded 40mm CS rounds into their underbarrel GLs.

Thousands lie dead on the front line from being either trampled, drown, or shoot by "stray" fire. Towards the rear of the refugees, two smoking crators, one from the downed helo and the other from a missile. The bodies lie umongst the charred bloodstained sand, just feet from the smoldering crators.

On thefront the people begin to fall as a result of the intence heat. "Your suppose to help us"..."Let us through"..."Why don't you do something", the crowd chants as they begin to fall on the USNE line. The barely living are carrying the dead towards the line, only to fall within feet....

Bala'wanda, (98 miles NW of Uganda City)

With news of the continued trouble in the Bala'wanda District, espically that of the USNE front, the Free Sambizie Forces have deployed in excess of 50,000 men over a 10 mile line. The line holds just 90 miles from the USNE line. Mobil long range artillery and SAM Batteries have been moved to reinforce the line. At the National Education Institute, just 3 miles behind the FSF's, Hokums "stage" at the football, baseball, and soccor stadiums. Hokum flights will continue near and around the USNE line in efforts to fortify the capitol.

The microwave emitters shut off as calls for medics echo across the lines. 10 Medivac IAVs and medical personnel roar up to the front as they begin to take on the injured, where they are brought to the main field hospital. Seeing they are swamped, supply trucks are sent to take on wounded. As the Hokum flights increase, so do the flights of the Canard Rotorwing Wasp IIs, with Unmanned Recon VTOLs making rounds near the FSF lines in turn. Orders went across the front to shoot anyone coming within 500 yards with a weapon, and any helicopter that came within that distance was painted with Laser rangefinders, or, locked on by radars of SAMs for a few seconds at intervals.

Bala'wanda District
0130hrs. (4 miles North of the USNE front)

The 50,000 men and mobile artillery move just 4 miles north of the USNE front line. The sounds of what seems to be hundreds of Hokum fill the pitch black night. The only thing between them and the USNE front is a small field then a massive 300 foot sand dune that streaches some 150 miles along the coast. Though "massive", the dune is passable. 60 miles through the desert, the large city of Bala'wanda sits within it's desert caverns.

0430hrs...

It had been quite for just over an hour when suddenally, through the blackness of the desert, five quick flashes. Seconds later the thunderious sound of the 155mm guns firing. Every once in awhile a a slower bolt of light would emence from behind the dune, that of rockets. It was a regular "4th of July" for the USNE forces...however it was "close".

0630hrs...

The sun slowly rises above the top of the dune. The guns have been firing for two hours and with the winds of death came the taste of gunpowder. Clouds of dust, smoke, and death creep out of the desert and over the USNE front. Amongst the clouds, hordes of Hokum skirt across the desert.

Uganda City
0632hrs...

Thelious stands looking out over the city and of the formations of military divisions in the street. Col. Hu enters the room and begins to speak....
"Sir..it has begun with one exception..."
What is the "exception" Col?
"It's the USNE sir..."
What about them?
"We need the "beach" sir, Our "Olifants" wont be able to secure the objective on time sir..."
Quit dancing Col., Give it to me in plane english...
"If our "Olifants" don't hit Bala'wanda within 4 hours, we'll lose the Bala'wanda Silos...sir..." "However, our tanks need to be hitting the beach within the hour" "Their ready to go..but we "NEED" that beach.."
Very well...waite for me outside...
"Yes sir"

USNE-OPERATIONS COMMAND

This is General Thelious,
It is of the utmost concern and a matter of national security, that a Free Sambizie Olifant Division be allowed to land on your occupied beach-head. A faction estimated to be in the thousands and very heavely armed, is just 18hrs away from "securing" an ICBM complex. We need our MBT's to advance on Bala'wanda and secure foward SAM batteries. These SAM's are preventing us from conducting a drop at the complex itself.
Please respond....

Due to our current logistical restraints, we are not fully prepared for mass landings in this area. Combat Engineers are still on the beaches, working. We can have you a space availible by nightfall, but until then there is not a thing we can do.

OOC: NE, those artillery strikes were not against the USNE line. They were infact directed some 60 miles North by North East, originating just 6 miles from your position.

Here are some maps and a military summary:
MAP 1: NW UGANDA
http://www.spaceimaging.com/gallery/ioweek/archive/02-01-13/mogadishu_blackhawk_640.jpg
Map size: 25 SQ.MI. X 25 SQ. MI.
UGANDA: Approx. 150 sq.miles x 100 sq. miles
Population: 587 Million

The USNE beach-head is SW of the above map by some 90-100 miles, (approx. 140-150 miles from the "center" of Uganda City). Directly to the North East, (20-30 miles) Is the Sambizie International Airport:

In essence, the artillery positions are shooting away from you. The troops closest to you are being armed and equipped at the airport. Due to the heavy supply traffic and Hokum operations throughout the SW and NW, we need the beach head your on to foritfy the infantry and artillery lines. I don't believe the movement to be hostile or threating to the USNE

But then again...Unless you REALLY ment to shoot me in the back?!?!?!

Sir, if I my be blunt, I don't give a damn about your logistical problems. Need I remind you, that your forces are on OUR beach. We allowed your forces to land and do not mind your presence, as a show of good faith towards APTO, BUT your logistics are interfearing with our supply and reinforcements! Our transports WILL be offloading within 1 hour..we'll limit it to a "two-colum" offload.

One way or another, millions of people may die today and if you wish to maintain this "conflict free" stance...your forces can "observe" from the ocean. Now you either get your hands dirty or you back off our beach....

[You can come, but I am not going to put up with any bullsh*t. It is going to take a goddamn long time for you to offload to the front, because we're busy dealing with refugees that, for all we know, have been driven here by your idiotic schizophrenic bush fighting. While you move your forces in, do not fire on any of our combat vessels that will be following your transports onto the LZ.]
--
The 12 Littoral Surface Effect Combatants rolled off the transport ships, their skirts inflating and weapons armed. Each vessel was armed with an 80mm automatic ETC gun, missiles, and anti-missile systems, and were under orders to escort any Sambizie vessels onto the LZ. Should trouble start, the transports would be slaughtered, stranding any deployed forces stranded. Overhead, a Global Hawk MkIV UAV surveyed the fleet.

We appriciate your "assistance" in this matter Commander. I'm letting you know now, that we will not work under the "perverbal" microscope of APTO. We know all to well of the "peaceful" intentions of the Allied Powers and thusly believe we have proven our stance of non-agression towards APTO. However, these are our people and should the situation arise, we will not take responsibility for fallen USNE soldiers...on the front. I have no doubt that some of the other factions may view you occupation or "neutrality" towards us, as hostile. I am equally as sure, that your forces may be subject to engagement, again...we will not be responsible. In fact, we consider you addressing APTO for intervention as time [b]is[b] running out...

USNE FRONT LINE
0700 hrs.
T-00:59:00

The Olifant convoy has reached the USNE front lines. The transports armed only with .50cal. "deck" guns, proceed at max spped towards a LZ. The vessels come in fast, going full reverse just 30 yards off the beach. As the transports slam the beach, the foward door lowers with ramp extensions. The first off of the two vessels were 40 FSF fully armed and equipped with Urban Assult and Riot gear. Behind them, the Olifants began to pound the beach. The FSF began to secure a line towards the dunes.

In front of the offloading convoy, the Hokums intensify flight operations, as so it would seem with them dispensing munitions near the lines. In the mix, squads of transport helocoptors begin offloading men and equipment near artillery positions. The equipment is being airlifted out the airport as soon as it touches ground.

As the first transports hit the beach, the deafning sound of "flak" cannons fill the sky just over the desert. Soon afterwards, two thunderious explosions rocked the desert as a squadron of Migs began resistance operations in the desert...

NW Uganda
0700 hrs.

Riots continue at this hour with most of the NW sector in flame. The riots, going unckecked due to heavy fighting in the SW and stadium district, have claimed thousands of lives and billions of dollars worth of damage.

The USNE Marines watch nervously as the convoy offloads, none pointing their weapons directly at the Sambizie, but ready in case something went wrong. The mood gradually calmed, until a crack, followed by screams. A fireteam immediately loaded onto a MedivacAPC as it rumbled toward the site. It was the crash site of the Hokum, and near it lay a soldier, screaming in pain as blood flowed from a series of gashes on his arm. Another marine was by his side.
"Sh*t, there was this kid by the wreck, Tommels went out to get him, he looked hurt, and this goddamn rocket just blew up. Fortunately most of the blast was caught in the pod, but he's got shrap all over his arm. He really looks f*cked up, he gonna be OK?"
"Calm down man, he's gonna be fine. What happened to the kid?"
"I dunno, he ran off..."
The EOD team came to deal with any other dangerous munitions the wreck still held, the soldier was said to be stable and in good condition, but the overall stress level went way up. The commanders knew if they kept the men on edge at the front lines, mistakes like this would happen. The real question was what they would bring.
