An F-16E...interesting, I thought the F-16XL program was dead. Anyways, the F-16 was designed to be a cheap multirole fighter. The F-16C/D sold for 26.5 million apiece : http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/f-16.htm. Probably one of the reasons the E version costs $80 mil apiece would be that only 80 were slated for construction...still, $80 million is an expensive aircraft.
