Instable region calls for humanitarian aid or intervention

02-01-2004, 06:33
(OOC: This is an RP of a country similar to many of the unstable and wartorn African countries. Feel free to join, particularly with direct (not monetary) humanitarian aid, or perhaps arms shipments (for money, not for free) to various factions. LIMITED military intervention might even be possible, but note that it would likely be similar to U.S. engagements of a similar kind, and as such heavily disputed and largely unsucessful. There is no stable government, only whatever faction or man is in power at the moment. I'm an experienced RPer, and not new to Nationstates. Thought I'd give an African-ish RP a try.)

Ashbai, Northern Syrique
Thursday, June 13th

As the Kyran faction pressed down towards the central river basin of Syrique, the constant clatter of gunfire could be heard sounding through the night. No one in the village dared venture out of their huts into the dense jungle, let alone onto the primitive roads which had for the most part been made by one faction or another to improve the mobility of their militias. Little children - many maimed by the last attempted takeover from the northern mountain region - huddled close to their AIDS-stricken mothers as the village waited to see whether the men and their AK-47s would come upon their homes.

The scenario was not uncommon, however. The varions factions or occasional ambitious man were always fighting for power, and bloodshed was not uncommon among the mountains and jungles of the 3rd-world country.

A recent call by desperate elements of the populace for humanitarian aid has reached by a few foreign news crews, mostly established in Syrique's capital city of Hwange (pronounced WHAN-GAY), and resulted in international recognition of the conditions prevalent in the country. The current government, headed by one Hafiz Dakari, has not made a statement - assuming it is even capable of doing so. It has, however, asserted that any attempts of overthrowing his current rule will not be tolerated.

International response has yet to take place, but it is expected that the international community will take at least some interest in the well-being of the struggling region.

On behalf of GCON, I'm sending in 10 million MREs, and 50 million bottles of water to supply the starving people with.

On top of that, I am deploying the 3rd Brigade, 7th Infantry Division (5,000 men with APCs and tanks) as an armed peace keeping force to protect the civilian population from the warlords.

The Republic of Austar Union would like to offer all nations in need humanitarian aid from its international aid organisation: Nationstates Red Cross

(OOC: Rebeland, please read the OOC section of my post, and if you're unwilling to cooperate, refrain from posting any more on this thread.)

Port city of Kitale

As the Bigmenistanian MREs and water were unloaded from the ship, crowds gathered around the massive stacks of food - most grabbing as many as they could carry and running off, only to have half of what they carried stripped from their arms as they did so. No less than 10 minutes after the unloading had begun, several trucks full of large men armed with AK-47s or similar guns pulled up to the unloading area. At first the crowd payed no heed in their feeding frenzy, but after several of the men fired into the air, most began to back off. Those still crowded around the piles were shot.

The imposing men watched impatiently as the Bigmenistanian MREs and water were unloaded from the transport ship and quickly loaded onto old trucks and driven towards Hwange. It is not known exactly what became of them, but it might be noted that those supporting Hafiz Dakari, the current "ruler" of the nation, are looking a bit healthier as of late.

Hafiz would like to welcome Bigmenistanian troops in the defense of Hwange against hostile takeovers, but anything further will not be allowed.

(OOC: Austar Union, feel free to roleplay NSRC aid (or attempted aid) into Syrique. Particularly useful would be the aid of medical professionals, food, water, and AIDS treatment.)

OOC: I forgot to mention- I do have certian elements of airpower deployed with the brigade.

Among them are-

20 Little Bird choppers
30 Blackhawk choppers
15 V-22 Ospreys
8 AC-130 gunships

My forces have set up command and control at a nearby airport.

IC:

After the vicious attack on the starving civilian populations, CENTCOM announces that an armed truck and HUMVEE convoy (with fixed machine guns on them) will escort any and all humanitarian aid convoys to protect them from attack.

And we are opening up certian sections of the airbase up to set up refugee camps.

As a member of the UN, we have decided to live up to our obligations, we have decided to launch an aid operation by shipping food, medical supplies, and other necessities such as blankets, clothing.

However, we will distribute the incoming supplies ourselves, to ensure they do not fall into the hands of corrupt officials who will not redistribte them freely.

We will also be mobilizing our 1st and 2nd Brigate from the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division, which totals to 6048 men to help quell the conflict.
02-01-2004, 07:26
OOC: Umm, an infantry division is approx. 15-25,000 men.

The term you're looking for is a Brigade (about 5,000)
02-01-2004, 07:28
OOC: Whoops. I'm not too good at military organization, as you can tell...
02-01-2004, 07:29
We will be sending $300 Million worth of Food, Medical, and Shelter aid.

This includes:

Food Shipments to feed the hungry
Medical: Equiptment, Doctors, hospital tents, vaccenes, medicines
Shelter: Tents to house refugees.

We ask the international coalition to make sure these aid shipments are kept under NSRC control.

Sultan Hafiz Dakari would like to make it clear that military insertions by any nation henceforth will not be tolerated, unless expressly in support of Sultan Dakari and his government. The military force deployed by Exonerate will not be allowed to land or dock unless they make such a declaration. A similar declaration is required of Bigmenistan, lest their forces in the area be forced to withdraw.

Personell escorting humanitarian aid are not to be armed, as the recent attack on innocent civilians in the port of Kitale showed that such people cannot be trusted. The Sultan looks out for the greater good of his people, and will thus provide the armed portion of any escort of humanitarian aid. Due to the incident in Kitale, any armed persons trying to escort humanitarian aid will be shot by the Sultan's men. Military escorts of humanitarian aid by Bigmenistan are not recommended.

We pledge that our forces will not fire upon your men, unless fired upon first. We do not support either side of the conflict, the troops exist only for the protection of our aid convoy.

We hope you understand, but we would feel much more secure if our convoy was protected by our personel, who are all highly trained and well-equipped.

Your forces cannot be tolerated by the Sultan under your conditions. You will not be allowed to escort the aid with military force or armed personell, but you may send personell who are not armed to oversee their distribution. The Sultan, as he knows much, will direct the areas in which aid is to be administered, but your people may watch and conduct local-area aid programs.

Your military will still not be allowed to land or dock unless they pledge alliance to the Sultan or cede their weapons upon arrival. Be warned, however, that the Sultan will not tolerate betrayal or attacks on his men or his people.

1300 Hours, Capital of Syrique-

A large convoy of covered 2.5 ton trucks is seen driving through the city. About 20 trucks all in all. With about 15 armed HUMVEES, and 10 more armed 2.5 ton trucks as escort.

A look at the HUMVEE shows a man wearing desert camouflage manning the fixed machine gun at the top of the vehicle as he scans for activity.

After about 15 minutes of driving the convoy suddenly comes to a stop and they begin unloading their food and water supplys. Immediately they are massed by a mob of starving people, which looked like skeletons.

The troops begin passing out the rations and the bottles of water, which are disappearing at a high rate.

After about 10 minutes of this a series of about 10 RPG-7s are fired, 3 were fired into the populous, with the other 7 hitting the aid convoy. AK-47 gunfire then erupts as members of an armed warlord milita begin firing into the crowd.

Immediately the troops go into action. Gunners on top of the HUMVEES are firing their machine guns, while other troops have gotten out of their vehicles and have taken cover behind the trucks. Chaos ensues as the panicked mob begins a stampede to get away from the scene.

The troops hid behind their trucks are firing at the warlords (who have now taken cover in nearby alleys and are firing around the corners. The militiamen fire a few more RPGs and some of the HUMVEES go up in flames.

The Bigmenistan soldiers continue firing, as do the troops manning the guns on the HUMVEES. Men on both sides take some hits, and casualties ensue. It is estimated that the size of the attacking force is about 15-20 men.

After about 3 hours of gunfighting, the men begin to run out of ammo and they become sitting ducks. Grenade volleys are exchanged and more casualties are taken on both sides. HUMVEES are being destroyed by RPGs as well. The HUMVEE gunners continue to fire at every gunflash they see.

One of the milita men throws a lighted molotov cocktail at the troops, which sets about 3-4 of them ablaze. Screams are being heard everywhere.

Eventually a convoy of military trucks comes in and resupplys the troops. The gunfight goes on for a few more minutes until a group of about 10 HUMVEES drive right at the enemy fighters. The convoy comes under fire immediately, and a few of the HUMVEE gunners are shot, as well as a couple of drivers. However the remaining HUMVEEs drive in, and their gunners tear the militamen apart, finally ending the battle.

Casualties- 31 milita dead, 40 Bigmenistan troops wounded, 15 dead, 25 civilians killed, 7- 2.5 ton aid trucks destroyed, 11 HUMVEES destroyed.

After the battle, clean up efforts begin. The wounded are carried out of the area, and more reinforcements are brought in to secure the area.

OOC: If you won't allow any armed military forces in the area, then that takes the fun out of it.

I might not be in this RP for very long unless that rule is changed. Just make it a 5,000 man limit or something like that.

And I absolutely will not keep my forces in the region if they cannot carry weapons to defend themselves with.

Very well, we will put our aid program on hold for the time being.

However, we would request to the international community to send inspectors to survey the danger of Syrique and report the conditions in the nation.

OOC: I'm aware of that. I did spend a bit of time in MUN :P
I choose not to send my people in anyways because thus so far, we can only suspect misconduct on your nation's part. Which is why I wanted to distribute the aid ourselves.
02-01-2004, 08:36
OOC: MUN! Now that was fun... too bad the one I did was only for a day... *sigh* Anyways, sorry I misinterpreted your actions. As you seem to have noticed, I'm specifically stating things so that there's no way for anyone to be sure that it was the Sultan that did or didn't do something.

As a side note, I'm also hoping for some black ops sometime soon, and the RP is still open to other nations. As for the RPs, please let me RP attacks by Syriquan forces - Sultanate or factional - simply to keep consistency and such. If you'd like an attack on a column or like to provide specifics on an aid convoy that you think would be attacked, feel free to let me know, but actual fighting engagements should be RPed by myself and the other party.

*****

IC:

The Sultan would like to make it clear that the attack on the Bigmenistanian aid convoy was not orchestrated by the Sultan or his forces. It is rather porturbing that another faction was able to pull off an attack in Hwange, but after searching for a while, a Kinsu faction group in the area was discovered to have launched the attack and has henceforth been executed along with 16 other suspected traitors.

*****

Uijji, Central Syrique

As the people who had recently been to the aid convoy passed through the narrow alley, a large group of men approached the group. Yelling out in Syriquan for everybody to get down, most of the women and children of the group did so.

A few men remained standing, and the lead man fired a few rounds into the air. The men dropped to the ground with the rest with this show of force, and the man shouted for all of them to give up their MREs and water. The other men began to walk through the group and pick up the food. No one dared resist, and after all of the food had been collected, the men ran off through the street and into a nearby waiting truck.

Similar incidents are occuring throughout the city, which is not fully under Sultanate control.
02-01-2004, 20:09
OOC: I'll launch some special forces raids after a few more attacks on the aid workers. Maybe we could turn this into a Somaliaish blowup? After an extensive series of covert black ops missions first though.

IC: Syrique airport- 1100 hours

C-130 Hercules and An-225 Cossacks are seen landing. A massive Cossak is on its final approach.

C-130s, many helicopters, and C-141 Starlifters are sitting on the parking ramp with their cargo bays open. Personnel are carrying many many crates and packages off of the aircraft in the hot sun.

After the cargo is unloaded it is placed on some cargo trucks, which then drive the goods to a nearby supply depot, where the items are stored. At the depot- some of the crates and packages are being opened and placed onboard 2.5 ton trucks which are about to drive out into the city.

This cycle is repeated over and over all day long, every day. With about 20 large cargo planes circiling the runway in holding patterns. It's going to be a long day for these men!

At the depot about 20 large 2.5 ton trucks are being filled with aid and humanitarian cargo. About 25 HUMVEEs with machine gunners at the top are parked near the area (these are going to escort the convoy), as well as 2 M3A2 APCs.

After about 30 minutes of loading cargo, the convoy finally takes off and drives into the heart of the city. The HUMVEE gunners are scanning the populous for RPGs, etc. It is a sad sight to behold- as many children are armed with AK-47s, while most of the people look like walking skeletons.

After about 10 minutes of driving, the convoy comes to a stop. They are immediately flooded with starving people, and they begin passing out their food.

OOC: I think this is a prime target for attack, don't you think Syrique?

But don't attack with a large force yet, I'll TG you when I'm ready to have the big city battle.

So we accept your offer.

The Sultan is requiring an immediate relinquishment of the Bigmenistanian-occupied airport in Hwange. This is your final warning.

Central Hwange, Syrique

Gamba looked to his men, signalling forward towards the convoy. From the three-story building, they had a clear view of the entire area where the convoy was being unloaded. Several men were standing on top of the truck, throwing the food down to the hungry people below. There was no shortage of hungry people in Syrique, that was for sure, but whomever could control the food - now that was power.

"Fire RPGs at the Humvees and grenades at the trucks," he counseled. Across the street, another group waited in silence, blending with the crowd. From his third story window, he nodded to them as he made eye contact. They nodded back.

Within seconds, all 5 RPGs the group had lashed out at the Humvees in the fronts and backs of the convoy. It was hoped that the convoy would become trapped by the "dead" vehicles and massive crowd.

Nearly simultaneously, a truck pulled out of a sidestreet, machine gun mounted in the bed. The man at the gun was firing wildly at any Bigmenistanians he could see.

Finally, as the crowd fled in horror, men jumped out of the crowd, rolling what appeared to be cylindrical canisters under the 2.5 ton trucks, which exploded once they had rolled under.

The street was chaos, and from all sides - on rooftops, from windows, and on the streets - men with AK-47s and other guns rained fire on the convoy below. First to go were the men on the trucks, handing out food. Others tried to fire into any open windows they could find, and more still at those manning the Humvees' guns.

*****

Elsewhere in the city, a sizeable force stormed the supply depot, firing at any guards or vehicles they could see. Most - if not all - of the Humvees were gone with the convoy, and the nearly 35 men charged straight for the small building. Several throw smoke grenades or molotov cocktails through windows and doors.

OOC: Now we're talkin :)

IC: Scene is moments before the ambush-

About 20 aid workers are standing on top of the HUMVEEs passing out food. A total of 65 soldiers, all dressed in desert camouflage and carrying AK-74s are standing watch. About 40 of the soldiers are outside of their vehicles, while the other 25 are either manning the HUMVEE guns, or in the HUMVEE sitting at the steering wheel.

As the aid workers go about their business giving out food to the starving people, a series of extremely loud explosions are heard. And 5 HUMVEEs have been destroyed and are up in flames (3 in the front, 2 in the back of the convoy, effectively pinning them in place).

"GET DOWN!, TAKE COVER BEHIND THE TRUCKS, NOW! LETS MOVE IT!"

The spot in which the militamen fired the RPGs from was plainly visible, due to the smoke trail that was lingering. It showed the soldiers the exact spot that they needed to fire in. And immediately they took aim and fired at the area where the RPG smoke trail begun with their AK-74s, while remaining hid behind the trucks.

The HUMVEE machine gunners focused all of their fire on that area, while doing everything they could to avoid the mass of panicked civilians. A couple of the HUMVEEs managed to drive out from where they were, and they began taking evasive measures by driving in small circles while their gunners layed down machine gun fire (they are taught to do that, so as to present a moving target to the enemy).

The troops who were taking cover behind the truck convoy focused their fire on the area where the RPGs came from. Some even launched grenades from underneath their AK-74s.

Suddenly a truck pulled out onto the street, with a machine gun fixed in the bed on the back. It opened up on the Bigmenistani soldiers who were attempting to take cover.

Immediately the 2 HUMVEEs that had managed to squeeze out drove right at the truck and opened fire at it with their machine guns. A couple of them fired grenades at it from the grenade launchers on their AKs.

During all of the chaos, panic, and gunfire the soldiers failed to notice the grenades that had suddenly been tossed under the trucks. Except for 1 of them, who dove underneath one of the trucks and kicked the grenade out onto the street. However it was to late for some of the trucks, as the grenades under them exploded. 10 of the 2.5 ton trucks are destroyed. The explosions were devestating, and many men who were hiding behind the trucks lost their lives.

And if this wasn't enough, milita on top of buildings, from windows, etc. started firing down at them. The men did everything they could to avoid the fire, and some of them took cover behind old civilian cars. The troops were pinned down. They all looked up above and could see the flashes of the AK-47s being fired. They immediately concentrated their fire on those areas as a firefight ensued.

During the carnage a Sgt. got on the radio and called in to HQ-

"HQ, this is Alpha Company, come in DAMNIT! We have been ambushed and we are under some very HEAVY FIRE. We need air support NOW!

"Alpha Company, this is HQ over. We are under attack here as well. But it is by a small force. So we can spare a couple of Little Bird choppers for you. They should be there in 3 minutes, over."

The firefight waged on, until eventually 6- AH-6 Littlebird choppers flew in. Their gunners aimed their machines guns at the rooftops, where a mass of militamen could be seen firing at targets below (and firing at the choppers once noticed).

The Squadron leader immediately gave the word to open fire, and they did so. An extreme load of machine gun fire was then layed down on the milita positions below as the Littlebirds passed over. Once they flew over, they immediately turned around and began another pass. Once again- the 6 choppers opened fire on the rooftop positions with loads of machinegun rounds with deadly accuracy.

The choppers continued the process and flew about 6 more passes on the buildings, firing at the milita each time.

About 35 Bigmenistan soldiers on the ground are dead.
================================================

Meanwhile at the Hwange airport- (OOC: keep in mind, this is the HQ for the entire brigade, approx. 5,000 men. So your men are probably doomed)

A milita force of 35 men come in and throw molotovs and smoke grenades at various areas. Once word of the security breach is sounded- About 500 men head to the area and open up with their AK-74s. The men take cover themselves and some of them throw M61 frag grenades towards the 35 militamen. 2 Soldiers armed with PKM machine guns fire about 5 complete ammo belts on full auto mode at the milita positions.

Friends in Bigmenistan,

I have been authorized by the Republican Council to offer you aid in assisting the peoples of Syrique. I have not addressed any of the 'Government' of Syrique because we are not certain that one exists, just warring factions with no real interest in peace. The warlords in Syrique will not profit from peace and they will fight it.

I have been authorized to offer to send the Purifier Army and the Scorcher Army (if necessary). The Purifiers are urban combat experts and have some of the best trained doctors and engineers. They have sucessfully disarmed warlords in the past while at the same time providing aid to helpless citizens.

The Scorchers are a rapid response force expert at covering wide areas in a short time and rooting out small pockets of resistance. They would be ideal in restoring order and peace to the countryside.

Ilek-Vaad does not send aid to sit and wait for warlords to attack or to steal food and water. If we arrive we would want support for an aggressive dis-arming campaign to render the warlords obsolete and to allow the people of Syrique to establish a democratic government free of intimidation.

The Council has already asked our Supreme Republican Commander to activate the Purifiers and the Scorchers and the Supreme Naval commander is standing by with the Battlegroup Emperor Ehecatl to provide air and marine support.

We in Ilek-Vaad do not often get involved in international conflicts nor do we often try to solve problems abroad, but the people of Syrique have suffered enough and we have decided to help them to help themselves. It would also serve as a warning to other warlords in other nations to see that they too may suffer from the heavy hand should they not respect and protect their citizens.

I await your reply,

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilek-Vaad

OOC: an Ilek-Vaad army is 80,000 combat troops in 4 divisions, normally 3 mechanized and 1 armour

The Armed Republic of Bigmenistan appreciates your help, and we hope that our combined forces will be able to rid Syrique of all these warlords.

Send your men to the Hwange airbase, where my forces have set up Central Command at. It is currently being assaulted by a small band of milita, but they are completely outmatched and have no chance of taking the base (there's that 3rd world education again  ). So feel free to send your men in.

We also extend an offer to you to come and join the region of GCON. We need all the help we can get, and our other billionare population country is just a bum that won't ever help us when it comes time to fight a war.

Somewhere off the coast of Syrique the Battlegroup Emperor Ehecatl eases into the national waters of Syrique. The massive nuclear battleship the Emperor Ehecatl leads the way. Behing the Battlegoup is the aircraft carrier Hecicero and it's destroyer screen.

From the deck of the Hechicero hundreds of VTOL Orion stealth fighters take off and begin criss-crossing Syrique's skies. The pilots photograph every inch of the country, Ehecatl Fire Control pin points areas of interest and begin watching them with spy satellites.

Hours later 10 massive Atlas transports enter the waters behind the Emperor's imposing screen, with minutes the Hechicero lauches it's A-10 squadrons, minutes later those A-10's are over Hwange. Minutes after that VTOL Marathon Stealth transports begin dropping in swarms at Bigmenistani's headquarters, thousands of Purifiers and their equipment offloading as the Marathon's hopscotch back and forth from the Atlas transports.

In all the confusion (though none of the purifiers seem the least bit confused or hurried) General Vaar Coyohuitl lands and immediately takes a look around, followed by his staff seargent " Seargent Emael, make sure we have the most up to date maps of the city and tell them to keep their tactical computer on heat vision , if any large group of people try to sneak up on us let them have it. Then call Ehecatl Fire Control and have them begin deploying the naval guard, keep everything co-ordinated through Fire Control, I want to know where everyone is at all times. Oh and find me the Bigmenistani commander ,we need to keep on the same page."

The Seargent nods and rushes off............

OOC: The Purifiers are armed with FN-Minimi carbines that use caseless ammo and are fitted with tactical computers. The computers are simply glrified scopes with several different functions and a GPS system installed. They have replaced their under the barrel grenade lauchers with Sonic Wave crowd control devices, these devices emit a stream of dis-orienting sound in a cone from the barrel and are quite good at crowd control.

They all wear Kev-Lite level three flack jackets and Spartan helmets with flaps that protect their face and neck.

Right now the Purifiers are simply setting up, they will not act until all 80,000 of them are in the capital, until then they will be content to let the A-10 ground attack planes harass any armed thugs that show themselves in the streets.

*Scene is inside the Command Center at the Hwange airbase*

Bigmenistani Generals and Ilek-Vaad are discussing the current events in Syrique around a large table.

On the table is a large map of Hwange, on the walls are t.v. monitors which are showing live feed of the Littlebird choppers gunning down many armed milita on top of buildings (see earlier RP post).

A Bigmenistani General then begins talking-

"Alright take a look at this area, (he points to a section on the map) this is the central area of Hwange. This is where the epi-center of the starving populous is located. So it is needless to say that this is where we have been trying to send the most aid to. It is also needless to say- that this area is being attacked by milita almost everyday."

*another Bigmenistani General begins talking*

"These milita are armed with AK-47s, RPGs, grenades, the works. They are pretty well armed for a poor country. Infact that have used RPGs to ambush a convoy in this area right here (he points to another section of the map). As a matter of fact our boys are in a firefight with them right now at this very moment. Take a look at this video screen over here- we have Littlebird choppers gunning them down as you can see."

"I think we need to begin launching some special forces raids, to capture these warlords. Unless they are killed or captured, then this cycle will continue IMO."

*suddenly a Corporal comes into the room*

"Sirs, I think you need to look at this telegram"

They skim through the long message, and they see that it says that 25,000 more troops are being sent to the area by the Bigmenistan military.

The Empire of Roycelandia expresses grave concerns regarding the Humanitarian Situation ins Syrique.

We have Overseas Interests in the area (Colony of Port Imperial) and feel that any instability in the region would be detrimental to both our economic interests and regional security, and a failure to intervene would be a gross act of negligence with regards to our Humanitarian obligations.

Accordingly, we have despatched a C-47 with several tonnes of Medical Supplies, Food, and Basic Necessities to assist in the area.

To ensure that the Humanitarian Supplies aren't "liberated" by Warlords, we are despatching a Battalion of the Imperial Guard (They're the ones in the red coats with the white pith helmets, armed with Lee-Enfield Jungle Carbines).

Any attempts to stop us will result in further Military Assistance, and we remind any warlords with ideas that the Imperial Air Force will be backing us up on this one...

General Coyohuitl nods as he looks at the map "If that's where we're needed, we'll seize that section first. Then we'll work out, I want to make sure that no aid wprkers move out into any section of the city until we have control, we're justing giving food and water to criminals right now." He then turns to Staff Seargent Emael "Seargent, I want 20,000 men ready by dawn and another 20,000 ready by tomorrow noon. Gentlemen I propose that we make a concentrated move into the city, engaging the militia thugs as we go, disarming or killing them . Once we reach the central portion of the city we secure it, and then move out block by block and remove all weapons and anyone that's carrying then. The second column will then move out and seize the power plant, water treatment and main hospital so that we can get them up and running asap."

The General pauses and then rubs his hands together "Alright! Let's get moving ,I don't want to waste any time."

Outside Seargent Emael starts organising the first column as more Purifiers arrive. The Purifiers also behing bringing in their HIND helicopters and clearing the runways for Hercules transorts to start bringing in their Thunderer II battletanks.

Meanwhile the Naval Guard begin landing in Syrique's largest port. Seizing the docks and the wharehouses along them. Destroyers move in close to give them support.

0700 hours, near Hwange-

7 Blackhawk choppers, with an escort of 10 Littlebird choppers are seen flying in the distance. At about 100 feet.

The choppers are flying over the beach area on their way to Hwange. After about 3 minutes of flying, the choppers come up on Hwange itself.

They fly at a low altitude, and the Blackhawks come to a hover. Immediately many wires are seen being dropped out of the choppers, and about 30 men wire down. The machine gunners on the Blackhawk keep watch. While the Littlebird attack choppers circle around on patrol for milita.

Suddenly the Blackhawks come under fire from small arms and RPGs. They have to manuver around to avoid the fire. The machine gunners trade gunshots with the milita below, until eventually all 30 men are on the ground.

They scramble to take cover behind cars, piles of rubble, etc. and almost immediately find themselves in a large firefight, as milita using AK-47s are firing on them, as well as milita with RPGs. The Special Forces that were wired out of the chopper fire back with their M4 Carbines and PKM machine guns. Some of them fire grenades from their grenade launchers at the milita. Suddenly about 3 pickup trucks drive in and open fire with machine guns that are fixed to their beds. They take cover behind their cover spots as an intense barrage of machine gun fire pours onto them.

Suddenly a Littlebird chopper flys in and opens fire with its machine gun, as it mows down many many milita.
========================================

However all of this is just a diversion. The real mission is about to take place-

A Blackhawk chopper suddenly comes to a hover overtop of a 3 story building. 6 men immediately wire out of it and secure the rooftop.

As soon as they are on the ground a pair of militamen come up to investigate the noise (of the chopper). As soon as they appear, they are gunned down.

The men then immediately rush into the building and go down a flight of stairs. They then turn left and run down a large hall. However about 5 men suddenly appear and open fire. However one of the Special Forces men fires 6 shots with his Benelli M3, and the 5 men are no match for the buckshot.

They then continue down the hall, until they come up on a locked door. They then blow the door off its hinge and rush inside.

Inside is one of the regional warlords. The men rush inside and handcuff him. They then take him to the rooftop, where a Blackhawk comes down and lands. The 6 men then throw him onboard the chopper and they fly off with the mission completed.
==============================================

As the Littlebird choppers fly in and gun down more and more milita, suddenly one of them gets hit by an RPG. The blast is deadly as the helicopter sprials out of control and crashes into the area where the milita are. There is very little left of the chopper now (and no human remains).

Suddenly 3 more Littlebirds comes in and continues the barrage. While this was happening, the 6 Blackhawk choppers actually landed and the men all got on the chopper, they made sure they had all of their dead comrades, and flew off.

Shortly afterwards the Littlebirds disengaged and flewback to base as well. One of the warlords has now been captured. A man by the name of Sheikh Amar Madulla.

Total losses in the mission- 14 dead, 1 Littlebird chopper destroyed

(I had to write this up, because it's next to impossible to RP a Special Forces raid)

A squadron of IAe Spitfires has arrived in Syrique and has been assisting the Imperial Guard in anti-warlord operations.

Several strategic strikes have been made, but at this stage no damage or casualty reports are available...

"Hello I am comrade Ilyana reporting here at RTN studios in Riga. Our leader our aware that the Bigmenstien pigs are trying to brainwash the people of Syrigue into laying their support behind them. Thus we find we must intervene on behalf of the Sultan. The rightful leader of Syrigue. Already our K-10 heavy transport planes are parardropping in crates with 1,000 M4s and 100 VHS-1 MISSILE DEFENDERS(a high tech rocket launcher/handheld SAM combination) for the sultan forces too havein their glorious struggle agianst the oppresors."

High above Syrique:

pilot: Ehecatl Fire Control, this is Orion leader, we have bogeys, confirm.

fire control: Confirmed Orion, they are slow moving transports, we have reports that they are from the Dominion of Red Tide and are dropping weapons into Syrique. Tollan Fire Control say do not engage the transports, but destroy whatever they drop. If you are openly engaged, you are cleared to fire back.

pilot:Roger that Fire Control.

Moments later the Orion Stealth fighters move in, a squadron each to RT's transport planes. They then use their laser guided rockets to destroy the crates being paradropped as they are released, the crates making easy targets for the Orion pilots.

The crates-being unable to dodge and moving too slowly- are easily destroyed. All but one crate carrying M4s and a single VHS-1 MISSILE DEFENDER are oblirated
