The People's Commonwealth of Beth Gellert should like to submit the State Arsenals' latest main battle tank to these trials.

GS agents (BG special forces elements) will be assigned to protect the tank and its sensitive technologies.

The vehicle is potentially available for export to friendly or "progressive" states and organisations.

MT-3 “Hotan” Main Battle Tank

Named for comrade Secretary Hotan of the Choson People’s Republic of Dra-pol, who lead that nation in the absence of its now late leader and who slew three would-be assassins despite being wounded several times. His absent leader was not so lucky, and even now The Commonwealth seeks to assist in bringing his killers to account.
The MT-3 follows, unsurprisingly, the MT-2, which was Beth Gellert’s first indigenous MBT.

Crew- 4
(Commander, driver, gunner, loader)

Weight- 50,120kg
(Combat)

Length- 7.6m (hull)

Width- 3.68m

Height- 2.4m (turret roof)

Engine-1,270hp diesel
(As drives the MT-2)

Power-to-Weight Ratio- 25.4hp/t

Road Speed- 65kph

Road Range- 475km
(600km+ with extra fuel tank)

Fording- 1.5m

Trench- 2.8m

Vertical Obstacle- 0.9m

Armour-Steel (welded), laminate, composite (front and turret), reactive and/or appliqué

Other Protective Measures-
NBC: system fitted as standard.

LWR: Laser warning receivers alert the crew to their vehicle’s illumination by enemy laser acquisition/ranging systems.

LS-DW: a laser self-defence weapon is employed once the vehicle’s LWR detects hostile activity. The turret rotates to face the threat, enabling the LS-DW to seek out the source optics with a low-power laser beam. Once the target is acquired the power of said laser-beam is rapidly and substantially increased, attacking sensitive optical equipment and/or human eyes at the source of the initial laser threat. This system is said to be effective up to at least five kilometres, and may be employed against helicopter as well as land-based threats.

A computerised grenade discharging system deploys an aerosol screen if the crew does not immediately react to a LWR alert (though of course this system may be manually over-ridden before hand).

IRJ: Infrared “jammer”

Smoke: 2x3 smoke-grenade launchers are typically fitted, and diesel fuel may be injected into the exhaust to create a further smoke screen.

Armament-
Main Gun- smooth bore 125mm BG Mk III
(This weapon replaces the BG Mk II 125mm gun that typically fired older, shorter munitions inherent to its restrictive auto-loader. The Mk III narrowly out-performed the western 120mm guns against which it was tested, and far surpasses the old Russian-style 125mms previously favored in The Commonwealth. The gun may be replaced without removing the turret.)

Fume Extractor: Yes.

Thermal Sleeve: Optional.

Ammunition: APFSDS, HEAT-MP, smoke & practice rounds, and Totem-2 ATGM.
(Typical load includes 36 assorted APFSDS and HEAT-MP rounds and 5 Totem-2 ATGM. Totem-2 is a BG native weapon replacing MT-2’s Totem-1, which was born following BG deployment of the AT-11 system on the MT-1. Totem-2 is said to be more resistant to counter-measures, have a range above 5km, and deliver “ensured penetration” against most ERA)

Elevation: -6 to +18 degrees.

Fire Control: Laser range finder and automatic fire control computer, which may be manually over-ridden; wind gauge, and dual-axis stabilisation system.

Night Vision: Available to driver, gunner, and commander.

Secondary Armament: 7.62mm co-axial machinegun (2,200rnds), 14.5mm AA machinegun operated by loader (240rnds), 5.45mm AKS-74 assault rifle (210rnds).

Service- In production; 5,500 ordered by the Commonwealth People’s Army; 185 by Dra-pol

M-26UM Main Battle Tank

http://www.bulba.eu.org/mil/free/t80/t84u.jpg

Design

Designed to combat all other Main Battle Tanks in the world, the M-26 has had everything we own put into it. Design was VERY important, and we have had all our autobile companinies, tank manufacturers and some experts from other countries helping us. We now go over it with you now, in depth.

It is based on the old T-80, and more lately on the T-80UK. We like the idea of the tank, and wanted to capitalise on it. The turret and hull combine well and look sleek and low figured, ideal for a main battle tank. It also had to allow for a large gun with lots of recoil, which has been catered for with design modifications.

Turret siding has been installed, and the smoke dispensers have been moved to a position on the side which is clearly seen. ATGM pods have been installed, and Mud and bullet deflectors have been positioned on the turret. Various new electronics and periscopes have been installed, which are detailed in 'systems'.

The turret has been moved forward to allow for a very large engine, a 1500 Horsepower Hydrogen Turbo Charged KZ-76 Battle Tank engine, which is state of the art, and will be placed on all our tanks, hopefully for the next few generations. The engine is strategically placed in a well armored section, which is well armored on the top as well as sides.

On the new updated UM version, there is a new armor to boot. The armor has just recently been invented, and never tried before in a tank. It is constructed of a titanium alloy in an epoxy-resin honeycomb. This means that the whole thing is very, very strong, and is the strongest material on earth. It surpasses the Ti/C, DU and Chobham-2 armor, and is the bestm in the world. We are very, very proud of this armor.

The armor amounts vary around the tank. The frontal armor is enough to stop an 140mm shell, which is quite much in this modern world. The side armor is designed to stop srtillery and AT rockets, and is stronger around the gine and crew sections. It can stop and has stopped 110mm, but is mainly designed to counter IFV's, Javelin Systems and various artillery munitions.

The rear armor is just enough to stop 50-90mm shells, Javelin Rockets, and AT rockets, The top armor is very protective, and can stop Javelin rockets, 120mm artillery and most Helicopter fired unguided munitions. Cluster bombs can easily be dealt with aswell. The floppy plastic things on the sides are made of Fiber Glass and Ceramics for bullet protection to te electronics, and help with the NBC systems using lead. The side skirts are made of the same material but thicker, for mine protection. If asked for, the tank can be given Kontakt-6 2nd Generation ERA for some extra $$$.

http://www.bulba.eu.org/mil/free/t80/t84u(9).jpg

The crew are situated in various positions. The driver sits in the front of the tank, in front of the protective shield that blocks the front end of the tank from the turret. The commander and Gunner sit under the turret, and the autolader takes up quite a lot of space under the cannon. It is all very secure, and there are blast proof walls between each position. There is easy exit doors and maintenance hatches throughout, and most areas can be accesed without removing the turret.

Systems

This is where this tank is really special. The systems on this tnak are expensive, special, quick and very, very user friendly. Software companies around the world were contacted to create and update these systems, and we pulled many ropes to get these programs. Most are updated versions of our old systems, witha few new ones aswell.

First off, there is the Joint Tactical Infomation Distrubtion System. It allows tanks to talk to other tanks, records and sends data and manages the tanks communications systems. It is high speed and is managed by the SuperComputer just in front of the engine. It looks after inter-tank and inside tank information, and can communicate with any JTIDS equipped vehilce/unit on the planet. It either uses Sattelite Communication or laser Communication.

The little antinnae on the tanks roof does a lot. It transmits all satellite, radio and laser communications to communicate in any way. It is directly linked to the SuperComputer and can transmit to any covered area on the globe. This may seem minor, but is central in communication.

The 360 degree camra systems are mounted on the roof and are intergrated with the Thermal and Night Vision Imaging systems. There are 2, for the Gunner and Commander. Screens at each position show the tanks status and various other things which are monitored by sensors and the SuperComputer.

http://www.bulba.eu.org/mil/free/t80/t84.jpg

The targetting system is enabled by both the gunner and commander. It conveys messages to the Autoloader, co-axial gun and turret mounted gun. The aiming sytem incorporates wind, temperature and target positioning and caters for it in adjusting the gun. The gunne can even target manually. It can be set to aim at Heat giving objects or targets given to it by the JTIDS. It also manages the targetting of the Anti Missile Laser, depending on which mode it is set to. This means quick and effective anti missile targeting.

The tank economy system monitors the engine and tread movement and modifies it depending on where the gunner wants the tank to go. It also varies the water exhaust flow, and manages the movement controls. A full NBC system is installed with filters in between the crew compartments and various exhaust systems.

The Jammer installed is a Multi-Frequency Electronic Jammer, nicknamed ARENA-4. It can jam electronics up to 600 metres away guranteed and less so for hardened systems. For extra dosh, an anti jammer jammer called Dragon can be installed.

The supercmputer itself is ultra fast and can hold, give and pass onn info in nano seconds. It is liquid cooled, amazingly by the liquid produced by the engine. It maintains everything in the tank, and is vital.

Weaponary

A large cannon was needed for the tank, and the boys who made the M-22 tank destroyer were kind to oblige. The 145mm Electro Thermal is lethal. It can take out the full front armor of a M1A2, hell, it can take out the front armor of a T-96. It can be fired while moving

The secondary weapon is the co-axially mounted 12.7mm Machine Gun, which reaches 550 rounds per minute, and is placed on the right of the 145mm gun. On top of the turret is a 7.62mm PKM Machien Gun which can fire 650 rounds a minute for anti infantary use.

Various ATGM's can be fitted on the tank. 4 Kornet ATGM's can be fitted in the visible front launchers, ATGM's can be fired from the main gun and there are 3 internal launchers on each side of the turret, under hatches. These can easily take out any APC and most IFV's.

http://www.milparade.com/2000/40a/02_01_03.jpg

The laser anti missile system is also installed. It can take out ATGM's, RPG's and even Tank Shells. It is operated by the onboard computer, and is very, very accurate. So far we have had a 100% accuracy record. It is crucial in defendng the tank, and makes it basically unkillable from anything but another tank.

http://www.sinodefence.com/army/tank/type98_5.jpg

There are, as you can see, 6 Smoke Grenade dispensers on each side and 4 not visible on the rear. 12 Are loaded with smoke grenades, 2 with Flares and 2 with Chaff. As an extra that can be fitted, 2 SAM missiles can be loaded on each side of the turret. Again for extra $$$.

Anyway, we very much hope you like our tank and once more....stats:

We have two tanks we would like to submit.

M-70A1VX Laser Tank - A light tank with a laser weapon as opposed to a cannon. Fires in five-second bursts, producing temperatures of up to 6,000 F. Is fairly quick, but relatively fragile. Best used as a support vehicle. Excels in cutting down ranks and--if the air-targeting system is installed--shooting down aircraft. Frequent firing can cause the weapon to overheat, destroying it, leaving a mobile chassis. Powered by batteries that can power 15 shots before needing to recharge (2 hours). If assisted recharging is unavailable, the batterie's chemicals eventually revert back to their original state, but this process takes about 20 hours longer if unaided. Specs:

Speed: 70mph on pavement, 65mph on rough terrain
Weight: 50 tons
ROF: 30 sec
Effective range: virtually unlimited
Crew: 4

http://www.angelfire.com/ns2/toxicvalley/images/lasertank.JPG

M-52A3VX Behemoth Heavy Tank - A massive heavy tank designed to take heavy punishment while offering strong support for main combat units. The tank has low maneuverability, so it should be used in conjunction with faster units for greatest effectiveness. The armor consists of a thick layer of DU sandwiched between thinner layers of steel. The main gun (130mm) is double-barreled, as the size of the vehicle allows for effective use of such a weapon. The two secondary guns are: two AEGIS-controlled 20mm Gattling guns, and one M-240MDP MG. Specs:

Unarmed speed: 45mph on pavement, 40mph on rough terrain
Armed speed: 35mph on pavement, 30mph on rough terrain
Unarmed weight: 100 tons
Armed weight: 101 tons
ROF:
Main gun: 12 sec per barrel
Gattling gun: 8 rounds per sec
M-240MDP: 4 rounds per sec
Effective range: 2km
Crew: 6

M-15 Light Tank Stats
http://www.sinodefence.com/army/tank/type59_1.jpg
Design

Designed to be a replacement for the T-55 and even T-72, the M-15 should be used in either a supporting role with Main Battle Tanks like the M1A2, in a quick reaction force or as a defensive tank in operations. If used properly, this cheap light tank could be very effective.

Compared to the T-55 on the outside it is very similar. Fitted as standard with Explosive Reaction Armour, it looks modern and fairly sophisticated, and its well-designed body and curves allow for most hits to be survived. Its armour is made of Titanium Carbonate, with pigments of Diamond, fibreglass and Cobalt. This means if rounds were not deflected they would be stopped.

Its track design allows for economic motion and traction, with rear facing grooves such as on your trainers. Traction in bad weather or muddy ground can be achieved and movement and acceleration are good, for better economy and speed.

The turret has been slightly angled at the front for better deflection odds, and it is shaped at the back for easy movement. A large space for the larger cannon has been made, for easy targeting and movement. It is slightly larger than the old T-54, to accommodate the new electronic systems.

Systems

This tank would be nothing new without electronic systems. And plenty are installed. Knowing we are pretty good computers and electronics, we set about making new things for this tank, and they are detailed here.

First, we installed our JTIDS (Joint Tactical Information Distribution System) in the tank. This allows the spreading of friendly unit positions, the latest Intel, maps and area scoping. Information can be given to any tank quickly and efficiently, and presented on the screens in the tank.

The onboard computers run various functions. They run the engine control, and limit the flow of energy through the engine. The Hydrogen is monitored here as well. The waste waster that is given is then circulated to the hottest areas of the engine, for cooling.

There are two 360-degree cameras on the tank as well as the conventional periscope. These allow all areas to be viewed by the Gunner and Commander. The Driver has one forward 360 degrees camera and a rear facing side scope. All these views are accessed via the screen sin each members compartments.

The weapons system is completely computerised. It will make adjustments on the cannon depending on wind direction, tank speed and target speed, pending where the gunner is pointing. It can also auto aim on Heat Sources targeted by the gunner. This allows engine, turret and frontal hits, with great accuracy due to the high-speed processor provided by the supercomputer.

Modern systems are included as well. The tank is updated with Night Vision and Thermal Imagers, Laser Rangefinders, GPS maps and tread power adjusters for very good movement. This is a very up date tank in an old frame.

The latest laser point defense weapon has been added onto the turret. It is again computerised, and uses its own sensors. It can proect the tank against harmful heavy missiles.

Weaponry

This tank would be nothing without a large cannon. It would not be able to combat MBT’s, or even penetrate their armour. A larger cannon than 105mm was needed, but the size and design of the tank provided a challenge. A new weapon was need, more powerful than the last.

So, we enlarged the turret for an 120mm gun. But this still left a lot to be desired. So, we decided to install an 120mm Electro Thermal Chemical Cannon. This allows the power of an 130mm cannon in smaller space. It is also reliable and powerful. Most modern tanks are armed with one, and it is the same here.

The secondary weapon on this tank is its Kornet ATGM’s. There are two mounts on either side of the turret, where an ATGM pod can be fixed. These allow 4 Kornet ATGM’s to be loaded in each. Also, an amazing new feature has been installed. Inside the tank, there are 4 tubes on each side of the turret, for Kornet ATGM’s. Each has a door that is opened for firing and reloading. This allows 16 ATGM’s to be carried.

Kornet ATGM pod

As side armaments, a 20mm Rapid Fire grenade launcher is coaxially mounted next to the cannon, and a mounted .50 cal machine gun is over the commander’s periscope, for anti helicopter use. This combo is great for anti infantry and helicopter. This tank is overall well armed and operated.

Heres the REAL King Tiger III (PzKwX)

http://publish.hometown.aol.com/skeeterb4u/myhomepage/tank.jpg?mtbrand=AOL_US
Das Uber-Deutschland is proud to announce that we have completed our first major ground based military project, a main battle tank. The idea behind the massive expenditure of engineering capital behind this was to have an itegrated, top of the line tank that any country within the URAP can produce. My country recently made two hundered billion on a technology contract with another nation (a none military contract). This has jumpstarted production of the main battle tank.

I dont want to clog up the board anymore, however if you need good reasons as to why this tank is superior to others, just telegram me, and ill give you facts. these are merely combat specs, they do not speak of the superior logistics this tank posseses. A simple comparison is between the abrams; notice an abrams weighs about 65 tons and goes 45 mph max. This tank weighs 75 tons yet can thunder around at 55mph. This is because the unit produces 2100 horsepower at the generator wheres an abrams generates 1500 before going through the thermaly innefiecient hydrokinetic (no, thats not a bs word) transmission. as you can see, this tank has no designation as of yet. I thought Id leave it up to the other nation of URAP. As I said, ill finish the discription of the tank if theres want from other URAP members. production has already started in Das Uber-Deutschaland, other nations are encouraged to follow, as production rights to this tank are free to any nation within the URAP. I ask only for your numbers, and your commitment to the defense of Das Uber-Deutschland, or any other URAP nation for that matter, if we are attacked.

First off, this tanks propulsion is better than the abrams because it uses no transmission. An inherent problom with transmissions (especialy heavy equipment tranies) is that they generate a lot of heat. This on top of massive torque make them not as reliable as could be desirable, as in high maitanence cost etc. The deisel electric propulsion of our tank completely eliminates the need of a transmission. All it needs is a simple clutch to allow it to idle. Also, the power to weight ratio of electric motors verses any kind of internal combustion engine is far greater. Every pound saved in the power to weight ratio equation equalls more allowance for armor. These electtric motors that run the tracks are very low maitanence and produce little heat. Since the diesel engine runs a generator, you basicaly have a moving generator as well, allowing possible future artilery pieces that can recieve power from armored devisions. In the area of armor, these tanks use depleted uranium. Depleted uranium is many times more dense than armor grade steel. With a more powerful propolsion system, this allows this tank to have more armor and still retain a top in class high speed. In the area of armament, the main cannon, a high velocity smooth bore 130mm cannon, uses the same size projectile as a 120mm cannon, only it has a larger sabot that allows it to soak up more vibration and therfor be more accurate. The cannon is stabalised by a hydraulic dampening system that also keeps accuracy very good. Targeting for the main gun can be thermal, infrared, and night vision. The anti-mechanized missle system is designed to stop very fast incoming threats such as helicopters, and light mechanized vehicles. This system is thermaly targeted and after fired, fully automated. The anti-personal turet mounted mini-gun is fairly self explanetory, it fires a huge amount of lead in a small amount of time.

He never bought the tank or rights from me, however, he did change the stats and did the polite thing by making them at least somwhat lesser than mine, as I did design the technology.

Well now it is time:
Presenting the offspring JHCV project:

T-7 Gilgamesh
Designed by: Fisaw (Industrized Serfs), Crookfur, Aresmat (Hole Where Evil Lives), and Newer England

Produced by: Fisaw (Industrized LSerfs) and ETC Ammunition by Aresmat (Hole Where Evil Lives)

Weight: 70,600kg (155,320lbs.)

Crew: 2 (in front hull)

Performance: Speed: 70km/h, Range: 450km (60km on Hybrid Electric), Vertical Obstacle: 2.4m, Fording: 3.3m, Trench 4.1m.

Armor: Advanced coposite armor incorperating Chobham, Titanium Alloys, high strength ceramics, Tungsten and spacing, exact details are availble on request but effectiveness is rated at being closs (or greater than) 1500mm RHA.

Power systems: CFPW T451 Alcohol turbine with hybrid electric drive for silent running and low heat (for operations requiring more stealth or involving infantry), emergency and maintenance power.

Armament systems: Electro Thermal Chemical 155mm main gun at least 55 calibres long capable of launching most any rounds including HEAT, Sabots, Top Attacks, Missiles, and even canisters. Also a copper round developed by fisaw. Export version using a 25mm machine gun/grenade launcher on remotely operated mount. Missiles (2 SAMs for anti chopper and possible anti round and 2 recon vehicles likely remotely operated) which aren't fired by the main gun. Also a anti-infantry variant of explosive launcher.

Ammunition: 30 Main gun, 800 25mm MG and 800 GL

Rate of Fire: Main gun: 9rpm, MG/GL 350-600rpm (or semi auto).

Intelligence Systems: Radar/laser/microwave threat warning receivers with rapid resolution of incoming fire sources, fire detection radar and suppression system, a wide variety of views with a horizon view and IR/UV/Night vision views. As well as targeting views and emergency periscope views. Laser rangefinder and designator, target acquisition system (roughly 90% accurate), remote sensor coordination (2 remotely operated recon missiles).

Counter systems: Sensors for immediate detection of hits which aim all detectors, designators and weapons at the target which if isn't found is then scanned for. Also launches a recon missile in the general direction. If the targets found then triangulation (with lasers from the recon and tank) is used to quickly get a designator on the target. Works most effectively against direct fire but if not immediately producing a target it should eventually be found. Jammers, active counter laser, dense particulate smoke rounds and discharger, anti-missile system using ball bearing packed explosives launched at direction of incoming threat from mount on turret, an anti-mine system also using the same ball bearing packed explosive system but located at the front of the hull and using a powerful detection system, anti-magnetic mine paint, multiple drone launch capability.

Survivability systems: NBC protection, unitary armored pod inside the crew’s section of the hull, blow away sections for ammo cases (which are mounted on the sides) that release pressure on ammo incase they blow up and if they do they explode upwards away from crew and engine. The same goes for our missile systems mounted slightly to the rear of the turret. Retractable (and detachable) armored skirts.

Tank systems: Computerized hydropneumatic 'dynamic' suspension, rail system to roll out engine for maintenance, cool air jets run into exhaust stream with a combination of air and liquid (water left and stored from alcohol engine) coolant, advanced fire control computer, fully stabilized gun mountings.

Designed by a joint developement team from 4 nations the T-7 Gilgamesh is perhaps the ultimate tank. With superior protection, hitting power and systems technology it dominates the battlefeild, engaging targets from a range where they are unable to effectively hit back. Despite being a true combat monster the Gilgamesh is also easy to maintain and run, with fully modular equipment allowing rapid replacement and removeal for upkeep. While very fuel thirsty the gilgamesh uses alcohol fuel making it affordable to run. While fairly large the Gilgamesh is relativly stealthy with low IR and radar signatures and the ability to move almsot silently if needed.

The grand army of Bazookaville would like to enter our newest tank into you trial.

Rottweiller is the new generation main battle tank in service with the Bazookaville heavy cavalry force. Developed from the Grand nog MBT, which proved so successful during the chickboy war, it is fitted with a completely new turret and is protected by Advanced Armour Technology. Proven to be the world's most reliable main battle tank, the Rottweiller has exceeded the most stringent reliability targets ever set by the bazookaville Ministry of Defence.

Fightability
To make full use of its formidable and accurate firepower, the Rottweiller is designed to optimise the crew's operational environment. Rottweillers interior minimises levels of noise and vibration at crew stations, fresh filtered air maintains a workable environment, and the layout and operation of systems and controls maximises the crew's ability to achieve first round hits under all conditions. The totally integrated fire control system provides both commander and gunner with an independently gyrostabilised, optical/thermal sight equipped with a laser rangefinder. The gunner's sight has limited traverse, whilst the commander's is fully panoramic. Rottweiller incorporates second generation TOGS thermal imaging. Its fire control system enables it to consistently engage and destroy eight targets in 30 seconds using its new high pressure 150mm R40 gun.

Mobility and survivability
Rottweiller is powered by the 1500bhp Perkins vulture turbocharged diesel engine, mated to the TN54 gearbox with six forward and two reverse gears. Its second-generation hydrogas suspension provides the gun with a stable platform, enhancing firing accuracy whilst on the move, and reducing crew fatigue.

Stealth is designed into the construction to reduce the probability of detection on the battlefield by visual, electronic and thermal means. All explosive material is stowed below the turret ring in armoured charge bins and a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) filtration system provides collective protection against ingress and maintains a positive vehicle internal pressure.

The hull and turret have been designed to minimise millimetric radar returns, to avoid detection and lock-on by guided missiles. The infra-red signature is reduced to avoid detection by thermal imaging systems. All explosives are stowed below the turret ring. Fifty main armament rounds can be carried there.

The Advanced Armour Technology resisted penetration during prolonged trials with a wide range of modern anti-tank ordnance. The use of electric gun and turret drives also avoids the dangers associated with high-pressure hydraulics in the fighting compartment.

Rottweiller has been subjected to a more rigorous reliability development programme than any other tank in the world. Its in-service reliability demonstration for the Bazookaville Ministry of Defence showed conclusively that the tank significantly surpassed the demanding contractually-specified reliability requirements.

Its unique second-generation, rubber-bushed, double-pin track minimises noise and vibration. Hydraulic track tension adjustment is achieved from the driver's compartment.

MBT: MBT2000 "Al-Khaild"
http://www.pakistanidefence.com/images/Support%20Pics/Al_Khalid_Mbt2000.jpg

MBT2000 Tanks Unique Abilities

Al-Khalid is capable of targeting the enemy in the dark of night. It is the only tank that has the ability to auto-track the enemy's tanks. Only French tanks have this capability. It is also as powerful as the German tank Leopard in terms of movement. The Al-Khalid tank's performance is much better than the Russian T-90-S tank, since its designed extreme temperatures.

Features & Fire Power

Al-Khalid has been designed with a 125mm (48 caliber) smooth bore, auto-frettaged and chrome plated gun which can fire APFSDS, HEAT-FS and HE-FS conventional ammunition and missiles. It is equipped with muzzle reference system, and bi-axis stabilization. Elevation and azimuth control is achieved by electro-hydraulic power drives. The tank is also equipped with a 7.62 mm-coaxial MG, 12.7mm externally mounted MG that can be fired with the hatch closed and grenade launchers.

The gunner is provided with a dual magnification day sight and the commander with a panoramic Hunter Killer sight for all around independent surveillance. Both sights are bi-axis image stabilized and have independent laser range finders.

Multi-Target Engagement Abilities

The commander has the ability of acquiring a target independently while the gunner is engaging a previously selected one.

Rate Of Fire

The automatic ammunition handling system, with 24 round ready-to-fire magazine further supplements the Hunter-Killer capability of the tank which can load at a rate of 8 rounds a minute. The presence of automatic target tracking system enables the tank to achieve a very high first round hit probability even while firing on a moving target while moving itself.

Night Vision
Night vision for the gunner and commander is achieved through a dual magnification thermal imaging sight. The powerful fire control system computer processes all the firing information, which includes inputs from its ten sensors and is integrated to both sights.

Fire Control
The ballistic computation time is less than one second. For accurate fire control, third generation gating facility has been provided. The result of such a modern fire control system is, routine first round hits on standard (8 ft x 8 ft) targets at ranges in excess of 2000 meters.
The tank with its 125mm gun has a remarkably stable platform, which is provided by a combination of soft recoil and an excellent suspension.

Wrapped around the fire control system are the ergonomic crew positions and controls. The tank commander, gunner and driver can virtually reach all their controls with little movement.

Engine
A 1200 horsepower super charged, diesel engine and semi-automatic transmission, provides mobility. An under Armour auxiliary power supply unit provides a significant reduction in fuel consumption during 'Silent Watch' and maintenance operations, as auxiliary functions can be performed without main engine power. The highly reliable suspension consists of torsion bars, hydraulic dampers and buffers that afford a high level of comfort for its crew.

Combat Weight & Speed
Besides a low silhouette, it is considerably smaller as compared to other modern tanks. Its maximum weight of 46 tons provides a double advantage; it is strategically easily deployed and is more agile. Its power to weight ratio, in excess of 26 HP/ton, gives the vehicle a maximum speed of around 70 km/h, acceleration from 0~ 30 km/h in less than 10 seconds.

Its low mean maximum pressure and the excellent ride given by its suspension make Al-Khalid an ideal vehicle to fight in any theatre of operation.

Armour & Protection
Al-Khalid has been designed to provide maximum protection and efficiency for its 3 men crew. Protection is afforded by use of modular composite Armour and explosive reactive Armour. Al-Khalid also offers enhanced protection through NBC, an effective Thermal Smoke Generation, Automatic Fire Extinguishing and Explosion Suppression Systems.

Limited Under Water Capabilities
The submerging system allows it to operate 5 meters under water. Navigation is assisted by the use of Global Positioning and Inertial Navigation Systems.

But can it really weigh under 40 tons while still mounting the massive gun, huge degree of armour, assorted countermeasures and secondary weapons, and large engine you claim?

ISAN may be in the market for a new MBT and as such is closely watching the competition, but has thus far been most impressed by the vehicle of her sworn enemy.. so that won't do, the Al Khalid being let down in Liberation's eyes only by its 125mm gun, where a 120mm weapon may be prefered.

ISAN expects that its own AN-60C would appear somewhat out-moded and does not currently intend to enter the competition.

Whyprefer 120mm? Less penetration.

Anyway, the armor of my tank is made up of the extremely light Titanium Alloy with an Epoxy-Resin Honeycomb.

The engine is a lightweight Hydrogen Engine with no need for vast amounts of fuel. In fact, th whole vehicle is made of Titanium alloy aforementioned.

That in mind, I might boot it up several tons.

I know Titanium Alloys exist, and so do Epoxy Resins, but they do not exist together.

Fitting them together in a sandwiched composite with Honeycomb and Alloy interspersed is very hard engineering wise and has never been perfected to the level that tank construction requires.

(ooc: I know that typical 125mm guns scared the heck out of the west when the 105mm was standard in most western armies, but generally aren't auto-loaded 125mm guns less effecitve with generally shorter ammunition (due to the auto-loader) than good western 120mms? Anyway, it may be too late by the time I've finished typing this, in which case do excuse me; we hardly expect to win anyway ;) 's just a good forum on which to unveil our new weapon..)

Following the MTMkIII Tortoise, the MkIIIB answers frightening reports of Axis tanks mounting 75mm guns able to engage allied tankers from beyond their own range to respond with 6pdr guns. The monster Armadillo Field Supremacy Tank seen in North Africa is a stop-gap measure mounting a 3" gun in a fixed superstructure. A powerful vehicle but clearly not the way forward. The MkIIIB, though not yet in full production, provides that avenue of progress.

The coaxial M60 is not the American SAW but the Imperial SAW which is produced by Phoenix Defense Idustries and is a first line of defense against infantry. The Automatic Grenade Launcher is meant to engage enemy mechanized infantry with devastating effectiveness. The Mini-Missile launchers serve the same purpose as the externally mounted ones on the HT-1. As a last ditch defense against infantry, five claymore mines are mounted on each side of the hull and three on the front and back.

The Crew issue has been considered and we were kinf of restricted to the 2 crew fromat to make room for the fairly massive engine, gun and armour. The Crew are however provided with everything they could use to make life easier (think the gunner system being more like the look shoot system of a modern fighter and with all the sensor data and threat info being processed and displayed in an easily digestable format) of course these systems are a little bit more fragile than conventional tank systems hence why the crew compartment has its own armour pod.

The armour is an undisclosed compostion of many layers with sandwiching and spacing with all sorts of wonderful stuff (even titanium/epoxy stuff could still be considered chobhan style).

Oh yeah forgot a pic:

Anyway, I think that perhaps the realisation that Crookfur could not retain three or four crewmen in their design while carrying such a large gun and engine should perhaps have resulted in the realisation that having such a big gun and engine wasn't a practical evolution so far as tanks are concerned. Adapting the basic concept to accept new technologies can often be a flop, and I'm inclined to think of wartime British tanks when the nation was rushing to keep up in the face of possible invasion with most of its tanks lost by the BEF -ungainly turrets cramming in modern guns only for the tank to be awkward, an easy target, unreliable and so on.
The French found out that having even a three man crew where the commander is also forced to operate the main gun leaves you with no real chance against even a PzIII. I'd hate to reduce that even further so the commander now has to aim and fire the gun, operate communications, survey the battlefield and actually do his job of commanding the tank. And God help him when something breaks down.
From the looks of the turret shape and gun mantle there can't be much elevation or declination on the weapon either. I'd bet on a Drapoel armoured formation against a Crookfur one. While the commander's digesting his targeting data another cheapo Drapoel tank has out-manouvered him and let rip from close range.

This all sounds a lot more aggressive than I mean it to  Maybe I should stop drinking now..

Dra-pol: its perfectly acceptable critcism.

But the way i view things (perhaps mistakenly) is that by taking lessons from helicopter and fighter control systems and cockpits you can aid the crew trenmendously. Yes we are taking the info systems way ahead of current western tank systems (probably about the level of tranche 1 eurofighter).

As for fixing things well it isn't much worse than modern western tanks most of them need a enginnering support vehcile to fix just about anything.

It is glaringly obvious that the gilgamesh has soem restrictions in where it operates best but these apply to modern tanks anyway and like modern tanks it has a good few supporting units to accompany it everywhere (we use UK style armoured divisions where we have 178 MBTs for over 800 IFVs, the ratio actually improves in a ready division).

The gunner fires the main gun

It might help if we knew what you were talking about. In Crookfur's tank there is no dedicated gunner unless it's going without a driver or commander, and in many French tanks of 1940 otherwise impressive designs such as the S-35 there was again no gunner.

And yeah, I suppose context is everything. A two man tank out on its own in hostile terrain, or with only other two man tanks near by would be dead, but presumably such deployment is unlikely. There's probably some roles the Gilgamesh is capable of accepting and others where it would be out of place.

..Much like every Walmingtonian tank going, which is why we have so many different versions (none of which have sufficient supplies of spare parts, of course. Ho hum).

Well Crookfur has a rather calm tempermant when it comes to defending our tank. I do not doubt that he believes in our tank (I am a co-designer, one of four if you don't know) as much or more than I. However I did my research on this one and I know what I'm talking about. After all the work which has gone on around it I get rather angered when anyone points out any faults on the tank. Many others are so quick to point the finger but know so little. Let me say before I get into defending our choice of a crew size that many of the tanks I've seen on this thread have godmod technology (its a lot less obvious than a laser but if you have a good enough knowledge of modern MBTs it becomes aparent) something which we made sure we did not do. Have any of you any knowledge of a little thing called an armor envelope? A tank with more internal space requires more armor to keep up. Therefore the lower the space inside, the lower the armor requirement. Now before I say why we would want to decrease this crew size in the first place from that of modern MBTs it is nessisary for you to understand a few things. Firstly our main gun. Large calibre weapons like those in the range of 140-160mm on MBTs are about 6-10 years off. This is mostly because of ETC technology which should increase the performance of 120/125mm main guns so that they will be capable of keeping up with increased armor into the future. Because of the massive amounts of pure armor as well as special armor technology (most notably ERA and to lesser degrees Chobham/Burlington, high strength ceramics and electricly assisted armor) we thought that in the context of this RP it would be nessisary to have such a deadly weapon. I now realize that it is a little overkill and that a lot more engineering on the projectiles and gun could have increased its lethality to a similar degree but thats in the past. Now understanding why we chose to have such a large gun on our tank you understand that this gun would take up quite the space. So we needed to decrease the space. This is the second reason I recomended a two man crew. The roles of the commander could be filled by most likely the gunner. Another person increases the space in the tank by about 40 cubic feet for the person alone. This space would be increased further for all his nessesities such as NBC protection. Less space to protect means less armor cost as well (as you'd need less surface area of armor to protect him). So overall this decreases the cost quite a bit when all this is considered. I might add that very few people in designing their tanks take into account long rod penetrators which are affected very little by the various exotic armors (ERA and the like). Few designers take the considerations for these as we did. So there. Don't be too pissed with this rather aggresive statement and be reminded that it is only my nature.

Well, at least that addressed the primary concerns about the over-worked commander.. who it turns out is a gunner before a commander.. which really doesn't help matters.. and other basic issues with the batlefield validity of the weapon.

To be fair, the likes of the laser tank were dismissed from the competition.
I won't bother talking about the dual gun tank again, as I'd only end up posting more images of the ACII Sentinel. Still, I've been relatively quick to skim over most of the other designs (being already familiar with some such as the Beth Gellen Hotan, since it's named after one of Dra-pol's leading political figures), but I'd probably be interested in further discussion of why other designs are flawed (heh, what?).

..I do wonder as to the wisdom of straping anti-personnel mines to the outside of an infantry support tank as Scandinavian States has done. You'd have a job getting me to march into battle beside that thing! (There's a reason Dra-pol doesn't fit ERA to its ICVs!)

Our Marines have expressed the same concern themselves. We conducted some tests to see how the computer would react to a confused battlefield scenario and the results weren't good, so we solved the problem by disconnecting the weapons computer from the claymores (which handles the duty of the gunner) and gave the Commander the keys to the gate, as it were.

Oh. Sorry if I angered you, and thought many of your arguments may be the case.

I know how it feels, having people who know nothing half your age critiscizing it. I researched before I did this, you know.

I thought you might have some kind of load bearing computer. But computers are faster and do stuff quicker than humans...yet they cannot make desicions in a battlefield situation. Humans still have the workload of managing the computers.

And the out of tank workload is large too. Putting up tents, camo nets and digging in are easier in larger groups.

Once more, sorry to anger you but just pointing out something I noticed. Indeed, the laser on my tank is a low intensity, 500 metre range, and is just powerful enough to blow up at max, a Maverick Missile. They do exist in real life, with the Chinese making an even powerful anti optics one.

We are going to make a UM1 version, soon, maybe get a nice co-axial weapon alongside, 30mm or there about. Have to larger the turret though, totally change the layout of the tank aswell.

Its gonna have Automatik-1 1st Generation NERA blocks, as made by us.
