The hive had been perfoming test on the 700,000 humans it had cloned for several days now and were slowly but surly finding strenths and weakneses inherent to all humans.
By utilising their resurch the hive began to create biological weapons testing them on subjects and improving their efficiency dayly.
By finding natural and structural weaknesses they are desgining a new perfect preditor to fight against the humans.
Preditor is completed. (Codename: Lictor.)
ictors rove ahead of Hive ground swarms seeking out pockets of lifeforms to be absorbed. Often refferd to by humans as Spooks or Mantis Stalkers because of their unerving behavioural patterns and combat techniques, they are inteligent and posess highly developed sensory organs so they can see, smell, hear and taste their prey longe before it becomes aware of their presence. Lictors appear to be a specialist mutation of Hive Avatars and are highly adapted to survival in hostile environments and a stalker/preditor role. Stalking Litors exude a pheromone trail which draws other hive organisms in their wake. A larger concentration of prey stimulates a stronger pheromone response and brings a larger group of trailing hive creatures. The carapace on the lictor is camelionic and as such it is capable of totally dissapearing, its ability to stop resperation means that it can remain totally motionless for hours at a time and survive in 0 atmosphere for a limited period of time and still function normally. (tests show a 30 - 45 min cap on this period). Lictors are over 9' tall and are a terrifying opponent. They also have a compliment of 5 synapse harvesters and their carapace is the lastest in refractive technology capable of deflecting all but heavy energy based weaponry and reducing medium scale fire to that of small arms fire. (heavy = tank killer medium = vehicle killer - light = man slayer - hand = side arm.)
A new biological weapon has been created by the hive:
In the form of small spores referd to as spinalharvesters.
These small creatures loc onto a living organism and fly at them aiming for the nervous systems of the creature. the spore slams through the skin of the creature and burrows into the spinal cortex where it begins to take over the bodily functions of the "host". 1 min after implantaion the host is paralised. 20 mins after implantation the host is under the full controll of the hive the spore has now moved into the hosts brain and acts as a node to the hive.
Method of release varies and avatars are known to carry 5-10 on them as a defensive precaution. However common methods include arial dispursal by hive ships.
GNA harvesting virus and bacterium are now being mass produced - these target specific traits in a speceis DNA chain in order to eradicate a single species in a set area the life span is limited to prevent over exposure and to inhibit the chances of an unwanted mutation occuring.
The hive is now capable of creating a virus / bacterium to harvest the information of any DNA they have so far experimented upon however the hive is constantlylooking for more species to experiment upon to perfect this technology.
Chemical warfare:
In the form of hydrotricarbonate gas. This highly volitile chemical is realsed in abundance so that a fog like vapour appears. If inhaled the gas will react with the water present in the lungs immediatly ionising it, this effect causes the lungs to dry out and turn to powder. Death occurs 1 minute after exposure.
The fog also causes the skin to blister and the eyes to melt however as these are not potentially fatal the hive considers them to be side effects of the exposure.
Due to the volitility of this gas it dissipates after only 5 minutes the reason it infact remanins around for such an extended period of time is that upon release several million gallons is released. As such onlt the largest of the hive ships carry this and there is rarly more than enough for more than one release on anyship smaller than a Hive queen.
Resurch into ships capable of more than one release is now being carried out 34% complete.
New refractive carapace in perfection:
The carapace armour that envelops each and every hive organism is being evolved - combining this with titanium alloy and diamond synthate cristals the dark shimmering carapace is now capable of refracting weak laser fire off the hull of the organism and assising in dampening the effects of medium to heavy laser fire. The hive hopes to further this resurch until only the largest of laser cannons will be capable of causing serious damage to hive organisms.
At this time only medium energy level weapons will damage hive ships and larger power lasors are dampend.
