A Few Questions Before Opening Storefront

01-01-2004, 05:38
In order to start a storefront, I have a few questions:

How do you create a storefront?
How do you get information on real-life vehicles, especially soviet?
Can communistic nations profit from storefronts?
[capitilists can't profit from it because of private enterprise]
Could any nation help us start a storefront?

1. You post a storefront thread. :p
Post the stats (and preferable pictures) of what you are selling. use the [img] tag.

2.Search the web or read a book on it.
3. Anyone can profit.
4. Sorry, I can't. Speak to someone else.

EX:
(yes I know some of these stats are off)
M1a1 Abrams Tank:
Weight: 60 tons
Height: 12 feet
Weapon: 120mm Smoothbore cannon
Speed: 60mph
Armor: 12cm Chobbam armor
etc.

You create a storefront by finding goods to sell.

You get them from searching the web. www.fas.org is a good place for military vehicles.

Communistic nations can profit from storefronts, and so can capitalistic nations! If you sell a plane for 40 million, the government would make about 500,000 - 1 million on taxes for the building of it.

Since a communist state would own the store, it would end up being about the same. The "guideline" is that you make 5-15% profit from your storefront per sale.

And no, you will get no help - because you are competition :x

OOC: Firstly, I don't like the storefronts unless they are well done and also I don't want to see the same old items being packaged as something else unless it really is something else but you're just using those pictures if any.

1:Do create a storefront simply make a topic with any title you want. Usually has storefront somewhere.
2: http://www.globalsecurity.org/ It has everything you will probably want to know and then some, it covers Soviet equipment just as well as it does Western.
3:I don't know if you can really profit but then again most people with storefronts don't say I just made X million dollars I'll have that in my budget, some do.
4:No I couldn't really.

Another thing, every single storefront does this that I've seen, people go I'll have 2,000,000 assault rifles and the owner goes 'Certainly' now don't get me wrong I'm sure you have assault rifles and such just falling of the production line. Work out a contract with someone it makes better RP and doesn't make you look so rediculous.

1. To create a storefront, just simply create a thread with stats and prices.
2. Google (http://www.google.com)
3. Anyone can profit, but take into consideration that it costs money to produce/ship the equipment.
4. No. You are independent last time I checked.

The best advice on starting a shopfront: start small come up with 2 or 3 good ideas and try direct marketing them before you bother with a store (response to threads asking for equipment such as in those newbie "i need weapons!!!!" threads can be a good start but does get annoying so you might end being like me and only really replying to more specfic requests).

As everyone will tell you a good, well presented and thought out peice of original equipment is much more fun than another "i sell M16s and AKs and Abrams and T72s and Su-37s and nooks" shop front.

Try as smuch research as you can manage into each and every product (if you must sell RL stuff try digging up interesting bits of info that may not be common knowledge).

Upgrades and upgrade packages on existing stuff is always an interesting way to go.

As for Rping sales this can be fun but can put soem people off if you take it too far (i shop fronts i tend to assume the role of a high level administrator and let underlings work out the details but i will go to those details if other wish). Setting production limits is useful (say things like a max out put of X fighters per year etc).

If you really need help on specfic points feel free to TG.
