There's a button above the little arrow pointing upwards on the left hand side of your keyboard that says, "Caps Lock".

to address your question:

you could go about buying weapons and such from sellers in the forum, and make a very detaild list of your weaponry, etc. and use that in combination with a % of your population etc. etc. blah blah blah....

or you could just make up your military as you go along during an RP and try to keep it inside the realm of reason. and once you are done with an RP, keep a mental record of the forces you used, so they can be used in future RP's.

1- Go to the first page of the NationStates forum and read the sticky titled, "New to NationStates? View these great threads." Most of your questions will be answered there. You should also read the FAQ, and the stickies on the International Incidents forum as well.

2- Typing in all caps (called 'shouting') really hacks a lot of people off. Don't do it anymore unless you want to get people mad at you.

3- There is a difference between the new player who doesn't know what is going on but is willing to learn and the new player who doesn't give a damn about the rules or common courtesy or forum etiquette. The first type is called a newbie, and is a rare and treasured commodity on these forums. The second type is called a n00b, which is unfortunately all too common.

Some of the defining characteristics of n00bs are:

Poor grammar.

Poor spelling.

Abuse of 1337 speak.

Unwillingness to learn anything.

Spamming.

Most of us who have been playing for a while have been inundated by swarms of n00bs. Picking through the n00bish multitudes to find the infrequent newbie is a lot of work, so most of us don't bother much anymore.

One of the things we look for is a newcomer asking a question. Our initial response (because of the hundreds of times we have responded) is usually to refer the newcomer to the stickies. The stickies were mostly written by the older nations for the education of newcomers.

Go and read the stickies. If you still have questions, send telegrams to nations whose threads were useful to you or post another question thread on the appropriate forum. The Gameplay and General forums are good sources. There is also a Technical forum and a forum strictly for the game and forum moderators.
