As the last Sakkran and Snel construction ships orbited away from the newly completed replacement Gate, lights began to glow all over the structure, and an omnidirectional radio signal went out.

The powerful magnetic coils running around the circumference of the three Gate Rings switched on, directing streams of electrons through the empty space between gigantic cathode-ray tunes and the tiny wormhole at the center of the Gate. The imperceptible switching of a few key transistor-equivalents let loose a flood of neg-ergy, and the sphere of distortion marking the wormhole's event horizon expanded, until it nearly filled the Gate. Dim blue light shone through in the direction towards Jupiter, a barely-visible Freya silhoutted against it, waiting patiently for the way to be reopened.
The Freya passed through. The first stranded ship had returned from PSR-1257+12.
Finally, it is done. Do we dare restart the Visser experiments so soon?
It may seem a watse if we are to loose the new Gate as well- but that is what it was built for. The project will proceed.
