Exonerate announces production of the AR-24

31-12-2003, 01:22
After several years of R&D, the Incorporated States of Exonerate would like to announce that its new AR-24 assault rifle has entered production. It has been approved by the military leadership, and will become the main infantry weapon of this nation.

The AR-24 rifle is an heavy assault rifle, which currently only comes in one variety. However, there are plans to convert it into a heavy machine gun in the near future.

The AR-24 is suited for assaults and medium range engagements. Its large caliber round ensures that most enemies, even those with light kevlar armor, will be put down with 1-2 rounds (We recommend AP rounds). One distinguishing feature is that the AR-24 can also fire 12 gauge shotgun rounds (Both slugs and buckshot), making it valuable trait in close combat. The AR-24 functions under even the most extreme conditions, may it be in sweltering heat, the artic cold, or even underwater. In our trials, it continued functioning even after placed in water which was later frozen then thawed. The scope is attachable, meaning it can be replaced by another scope of different magnification.

Too big of round, go with 7.62x39mm or 5.65x45mm. Unless this is a submachine gun, then .45 pistol rounds would be fine.

I made the caliber large intentionally, because I wanted stopping power, and lots of it... The high weight should balance some of the recoil out.

I dunno, seems like too much weight. If you were a grunt would you want to haul this big gun and it's big bullets around?

Well, I thought it would be kinda unrealistic to have a large clip size with large bullets and still weigh hardly anything. I considered some other calibers, but they were either too small, or not really common, meaning logistics issues.

No, I probably wouldn't want to haul it around, but my soldiers should be in good enough shape to carry it around for prolonged periods of time.

Everyone says that, they think it, but when it gets down to it a soldier who's not tired from carrying his heavy gun and heavy bullets can fight better then one who's all worn out.

I use 6.56x45mm (.258) calibre rifle rounds. They're a little bigger then most assault rifles use but small enough to not be a pain in the ass to carry. If the muzzle velocity is high enough it will pierce body armour.
