Description
The Merkava Mk 10 is designed to take on any other main battle tank in the world and come out on top. It combines strong armor, advanced fire control, and a powerful main gun that gives it a distinctive edge in combat. As well as acting as a main battle tank, the tank is capable of carrying 8 infantry soldiers or 3 stretcher casualties or any other kind of cargo you could imagine. This gives the tank the ability to act as a Infantry Fighting Vehicle and preform a greater range of tasks.


Weaponry
The Merkava Mk 10 main gun is a 120mm or 140mm electro-thermal smoothbore gun. The gun has a fume extractor and a thermal sleeve and is capable of firing APFSDS, HEAT, or HE-FRAG rounds. Barrel length is L55 in 120mm or L44 in 140mm. The gun is loaded from a 15 round revolving magazine operated by the loader, another 70 rounds of 120mm or 45 140mm is carried in protective containers ready to load. The loader can automatically select the ammo type from the magazine. The magazine's compartments are very easy to change in case of caliber change. The revolving magazine can achieve a ROF of 1 round every 3 seconds. The turret has a complete traverse time of 2 seconds. Maximum effective range of the 120mm gun is 5km, while the 140mm gun is 7km. The guns have a indirect fire range of 15km.
The main gun can also fire the California Mountain Snake guided shell. The shell homes in on a IR or radar signature. This gives the tank a point range of 15km. It uses triple HEAT warhead to defeat ERA.
The main gun can also fire the LAHAT missile system. The LAHAT missile is a laser guided anti-tank missile that can penetrate 1,000mm of armor with a range of 12km. The missile can be designated by something other then the firing tank. Infantry can call in a missile strike from 12km away from a Merkava Mk 10.
On top of the turret is a 25mm OCSW that can fire 25mm airbursting grenades out to 2,000m. The launcher is belt-fed and holds 450 rounds of HE. The gun can be controlled internally by the commander by video feed or externally manually. Also mounted is a 7.62mm machine gun co-axily.
There is an internally operated 60mm mortar that can fire HE, illumination, or special guided rounds. The J56 "Tiny Tim" is a small HEAT warhead that packs quite a punch for a 60mm round. It homes in on IR or is laser guided signatures and can penetrate 300mm of RHA. Maximum range of the mortar is 3,200m and maximum ammo is 38 rounds.

Fire Control, Observation, and Communications
The El Op fire control system is developed by Johnistani Defensive Systems. It can lock onto and track 10 different targets and engage them all in 30 seconds, less if you consider the secondary weapons. The fire control has shown a high hit probability against moving helicopters while on the move using main gun ammo.
The crew is able to observe the battlefield through the EYES observation systems. Around the tank are 5 cameras that provide a constant 360 degree view. The gunner, commander, and driver are able to view any one of these cameras using his/her screen. Each camera has a x15 zoom, a thermal imager, and nightvision.
The tank uses the J-RAY battle managment system. Each tank/infantry/artillery with J-RAY battle management system is shown on a GPS map. The system uses a VCR-20 radio embedded with two auxillery recievers that allows instant communication with other units. The fire control automatically relays target data through the system to other tanks.

Self-Protection
The hull is designed around the large 1800 horsepower diesel engine placed in the front of the tank. This large engine provides increased frontal hull protection as well as freeing up space in the rear for the 8 infantry soldiers. The passive armor is a combination of Depleted Uranium, Titanium, tungsten and Ceramics. There is no steel in the tanks construction. This not only provides a superior level of protection but also reduces weight about 20%. The turret is protected by a modular armor system that gives great protection against all range of threats. A spall liner lines the crew compartment to protect against fragments.
The tank is also protected by Kaktus-20 ERA. This ERA not only protects against HEAT but Sabot rounds. This ERA has shown to reduce DU long rod penetrators effectivness by 35%.
The Merkava is equipped with the Shtora-10 active protection system. When the Merkava is lasered the crew is warned and the turret is swung to face the incoming threat. Smoke can be created using the engine or smoke grenades can be launched from a 8 barreled launcher. There are two 5 round flare launchers on each side of the tank, the flares burn extremely hot and IR guided ATGMs divert their attention to the flare, not the tank.
The rounds for the main gun are stored in protective containers. There is a skirt of ball and chains on the back of the turret to protect against HEAT warheads.
The Merkava is also equipped with the Arena-5 defensive system. A instant scan radar identifies incoming ATGMs and launches a grenade at them. The grenade either destroys or disables the the ATGM to a point where it is no longer a threat. There are 15 grenades that can be launched by the commander in case of point defense.
The radar can also detect incoming artillery and aid the crew in evasion.

Propulsion
The Merkava Mk 10 is powered by a 1800 horsepower diesel engine. This stored fuel gives the Merkava an operational range of 500km. With extra fuel tanks this can go as far as 1000km.

Yes, we can manufacture our own weapons, and we are. But the going is slow and I would like to be armed and ready now. I have not yet made any allies, since I am only a 1 day old nation. So I want to be prepared.

In the most strongest terms I would urge you against the purchase of any Merkava defence vehicles. They are designed to defend against little more than stone throwing youths.

I'm aware of this, however, I'm not fully sure that tanks are what I am looking for at the moment. The threat upon my nation isnt as great as I had first thought. I have a little time to browse and manufacture my own weapons.

MBT2000 Tanks Unique Abilities

Al-Khalid is capable of targeting the enemy in the dark of night. It is the only tank that has the ability to auto-track the enemy's tanks. Only French tanks have this capability. It is also as powerful as the German tank Leopard in terms of movement. The Al-Khalid tank's performance is much better than the Russian T-90-S tank, since its designed extreme temperatures.

Features & Fire Power

Al-Khalid has been designed with a 125mm (48 caliber) smooth bore, auto-frettaged and chrome plated gun which can fire APFSDS, HEAT-FS and HE-FS conventional ammunition and missiles. It is equipped with muzzle reference system, and bi-axis stabilization. Elevation and azimuth control is achieved by electro-hydraulic power drives. The tank is also equipped with a 7.62 mm-coaxial MG, 12.7mm externally mounted MG that can be fired with the hatch closed and grenade launchers.
The gunner is provided with a dual magnification day sight and the commander with a panoramic Hunter Killer sight for all around independent surveillance. Both sights are bi-axis image stabilized and have independent laser range finders.

Multi-Target Engagement Abilities

The commander has the ability of acquiring a target independently while the gunner is engaging a previously selected one.

Rate Of Fire

The automatic ammunition handling system, with 24 round ready-to-fire magazine further supplements the Hunter-Killer capability of the tank which can load at a rate of 8 rounds a minute. The presence of automatic target tracking system enables the tank to achieve a very high first round hit probability even while firing on a moving target while moving itself.

Night Vision
Night vision for the gunner and commander is achieved through a dual magnification thermal imaging sight. The powerful fire control system computer processes all the firing information, which includes inputs from its ten sensors and is integrated to both sights.

Fire Control
The ballistic computation time is less than one second. For accurate fire control, third generation gating facility has been provided. The result of such a modern fire control system is, routine first round hits on standard (8 ft x 8 ft) targets at ranges in excess of 2000 meters.
The tank with its 125mm gun has a remarkably stable platform, which is provided by a combination of soft recoil and an excellent suspension.

Wrapped around the fire control system are the ergonomic crew positions and controls. The tank commander, gunner and driver can virtually reach all their controls with little movement.

Engine
A 1200 horsepower super charged, diesel engine and semi-automatic transmission, provides mobility. An under Armour auxiliary power supply unit provides a significant reduction in fuel consumption during 'Silent Watch' and maintenance operations, as auxiliary functions can be performed without main engine power. The highly reliable suspension consists of torsion bars, hydraulic dampers and buffers that afford a high level of comfort for its crew.

Combat Weight & Speed
Besides a low silhouette, it is considerably smaller as compared to other modern tanks. Its maximum weight of 46 tons provides a double advantage; it is strategically easily deployed and is more agile. Its power to weight ratio, in excess of 26 HP/ton, gives the vehicle a maximum speed of around 70 km/h, acceleration from 0~ 30 km/h in less than 10 seconds.

Its low mean maximum pressure and the excellent ride given by its suspension make Al-Khalid an ideal vehicle to fight in any theatre of operation.

Armour & Protection
Al-Khalid has been designed to provide maximum protection and efficiency for its 3 men crew. Protection is afforded by use of modular composite Armour and explosive reactive Armour. Al-Khalid also offers enhanced protection through NBC, an effective Thermal Smoke Generation, Automatic Fire Extinguishing and Explosion Suppression Systems.

Limited Under Water Capabilities
The submerging system allows it to operate 5 meters under water. Navigation is assisted by the use of Global Positioning and Inertial Navigation Systems.

Project JF-17, is designed to further meet budget Air Forces tactical and strategic needs with the least reliance on imports from other countries. In addition to that to design a plane that meets its on requirements with lots of room for upgrades. JF-17 is considered to be Medium-tech or possibly low-high-tech class.

Technical Details:

Super Seven is a light weight, multi-role day-night, all weather fighter with max TO weight 12,700kg, max speed 1.6M, ceiling 16,500m, max weapon load 3,900kg, range 3,000km. It uses Russian RD-93 turbofan engine, which is an upgrade of RD-33, this RD-93 turbofan engine is also used in Russian MiG-29 it is claimed to 80-85% as capable as American F-16 and highly aerial maneuverability as its key features. RD-93 engine used in JF-17 is build in China with Russian license. The aircraft can also be fitted with an in-flight refueling probe and a deck arrester hook. This will increase its striking range beyond 3,000km.

Avionics:


JF-17 will be fitted with Italian Grifo S-7 fire-control radar. The Grifo S-7 radar system is specially designed for the JF-17 it has 25 working modes and a non-break-down time of 200 hours. Grifo S-7 radar system is capable of look-down, shoot-down, as well as for ground strike abilities. In addition to that it includes new digital dual fly-by-wire (FBW) system and a true Beyond Visual Range (BVR) attack capability.

Weapon Systems:

JF-17 is designed to be fitted with vast array of weaponry. It has a total of seven store stations, one under the fuselage and six under the wing with a maximum weapon load of 3,800kg.

JF-17s primary air to air weapon is a medium range SD-10 Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile. Other weapons it can carry are short and medium range AAMs (Anti-Air Missiles) like AIM-9P/PL-9/Magic 2 and PL-11/Aspide/AIM-7E etc. In addition to that it can carry wide array of high and low drag bombs, laser guided bombs, runway penetration bombs and cluster bombs for air strikes.

Status Update:

FC-1/JF-17 prototype (serial number "01") conducted its first official test flight on September 3rd, 2003. The plane took off from Wenjiang Airport in Chengdu and stayed in air for about eight minutes. This prototype rolled out from the assembly line on 31 May 2003. On 1 July the it completed its first taxi run test at the test airfield in CAC(Chinese Aeronautical Complex).
