Right then. This is an adventure RP set in the not-so-distant-but-still-distant future. Humans have just started to colonize Mars and the Moon has been colonized a while back. The Earth is a massivley polluted wasteland. Space travel exists, but it is not FTL (faster than light). Extraterestrials have become a common sight throughout the solar system.

The whole thing is unscripted and unplanned, meaning anything can happen. Really. The spirit of it is, some people/aliens/mythical creatures (the "good guys") find out about the PWND (a mind-controlled device) and set out to find the three pieces of it that are scattered across Mars, Earth and the Moon, one piece on each planet. Meanwhile, some other people/aliens/mythical creatures (the "bad guys") simultaneously attempt to do that same. Both sides face obstacles placed to protect the pieces while harassing each other at the same time. Eventually, one side gets the PWND together and both sides duke it out until the PWND is destroyed, somehow.

Slight magic is allowed (no invisibility, invulnerability and other things that might be considered godmodding in the normal NS world). By "mythical creature," I mean things like elves (not santa's elves), dwarves, human-size cyclops and etc. I don't really care what your charater is, as long as it's human-sized.

I was thinking we could have a quest-type RP. Like, we'd start off somewhere... and be looking for something. It doesn't even have to be in ancient times. We can quest for something from some other planet. Or we could just quest for the Holy Grail and slay many zombiez. Or we could attempt to find Pandora's Box and prevent some n00b from destroying the world.

The ammount of people who can sign up is undetermined yet, but I think the maximum ammount of "good guys" canont exceed 5. The mmount of "bad guys" cannot exceed 5 either, but I suppose there is enough "elbow room" in an RP like this for random interventions (IE surprsie attacks) by people who didnt sign up, or people who sign up to be surprise things.

Details are unclear at this time.

A quest for the nuke! some n00b has stolen a huge ungodly amount of nukes, and is going around saing "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!111 I n00k j00 with 170958709854387562876972987649876519049875 n00ks!!!!!!111" and we ahve to get the nuke back before we all die!

It can be in Port Yuko, the capital of Bonstock, where 1.2 billion people live crammed into a space no larget then Tokyo, Japan. Pollution, class divisions, murder, terrorists trying to nuke the place... everything a city should have!

Hell, it could be something along the lines of Ocean's 11 or something like that. Group of people decide to pull a major heist, perhaps along the way their employer sells them out and they have to go whoop his ass, that sort of thing.

Yes... critters are a good idea. It doesn't really matter what kind of critters they are. Also, I suggest that this take place in some alternate universe so that other people are not forced to allow zombies ramage through their nations. But the evil people will have to be able to... umm... at least give the questers a chance to survive. I want to make this good.

OK, putting all this together we can have:
An adventure-type RP set in the future (preferably "set against a backdrop of urban decay and industrial waste" contrasting with high-rise shiny cities) with evil and or genetially modified crittirs and evil genetic scientits. We will probably be questing for... something that will allow n00bs to take over the world, but there's still room for more ideas. I will most likeley be on all day on new year's, by which i'd like to have this going.

I'd like to participate. Could I be a minor baddie? I'll send my special chryssalid to be one of the baddies. (A chryssalid is a large, armored, humanoid bug that uses humans as incubators for its rapidly gestating eggs. If you've ever played Xcom Ufo Defense, you know what I mean :wink:) The special chryssalid is "intelligent" or rather, smart enough to not target its allies (other baddies.)

How about we have both the baddies and the goodies questing for the same thing? Like a noobizer that turns people into noobs. The goodies want to destroy it for the good of the community, the baddies want to use it to take control of everything.

sounds great. Btw you know what tyranids are - well think cross between Tyranids, borg and aliens with bio warfare thrown in for fun :D

Alright! I've choosen my favorite, semi-feral chryssalid to be my character! (see above edit)

hmm i am thinking along the lines of a 30 strong brood.

20 venomtalons (basically a 90kph moving ball of hard chichen armour and sharp ft long scything claws coated in you guessed it venom :P)
1 Avatar to keep things in order
1 royal guard ship (incase we need to flyabout - basically a big beetle floatythingy that can travel in space)
5 spinal harvesters (spores that float about until they sence a target then slam into them heading straight for the spinal core where they slowly take over the victim turning it into a memeber of the hive.
Carnifex (becasue they are fun to have and nice n scary think 12ft tall walking lump of flesh with talons bioplasma spit and a bad attitude)
2 "phantom harvesters" (this will be a nice surprise when they pop up :D )

if you think any of this is ott then do say but tbh the only hard stuff is the avatar and the carnifex venomtalons are easy to kill and spinal harvesters are just fun to watch. admitedly phantoms are a bit of a worrie and the ship is there as transport unlikly to use it except vs tanks and even then the carnifex could prob do the job

Shouldn't references to n00bism and n00bishness be kept out of the RP itself? That's (to use comic strip jargon) pretty much breaking the fourth wall and risks causing the RP to be of lower quality.

Perhaps both sides could be questing for something scientific-like, say Zero Point Energy or whatever. Could be in the form of a scientist or some research documents hidden in a supervault.

Hive Fleet Imodius: No, I don't know, but that's why you include descriptions in the RP. That's kinda like DNA-computers, eh? Like, computers that use DNA to store data and use protiens to read/write data. And self-replicating biological processors. mmm... And although most times you'd need a main character, I don't think you actually need one. But I do ask that you don't swarm the questers at once, because them it'd be less fun than just having scouts pop up from around corners and out of air vents.

Anhierarch, yes, i'm just using "n00b" instead of "foolish leader" now. We could have both sides looking for the same thing, but usually, the baddies want to protect the thing. Nevermind, I think having them quest for the same thing is better and allows for more storyline. The scientist peoples can be neutral.

We need more people to sign up and also I need more ideas on the object/place to be found.
So far I have the following suggestions (also from people I've asked outisde NS):
Santa's Bottomless sack (allows for anything to be taken out of it. LIke toys, elecronics or if you are a n00b, n00ks.)
The Bluebird of happiness (Not quite sure what this does, but I think it provides happiness in the form of the song of the bird.)
Pandora's Box (Unleashes unlimited evil on the world if opened)
The neverending nuke (A nuke that blows up, but never harms the person weilding it and never goes away.)
Something scientific (depends of whatever decided)


I'll probobaly be having magic be allowed TO AN EXTENT, meaing people can visit from the dead for short ammounts of time (just in case someone dies or so the questers can get clues of where to find the item). Also, you can be any character, only as long as you are humanoid in size. I get to be the elvish dude :D.

Why just one planet? If it's gonna be future-type RP, we can have it be scatterd accorss earth, the moon and mars. And all three places have diffrent environments, like the war-torn and polluted earth, slightly future, but run-down from neglect moon and the shiny mars-type environment.

But the mind-control device is an excelent idea. It adds in treason and a level of uncertainty as long as any one side controls the thing. And then on the trip back to earth, the baddies get it and use it to turn one of the questers agains the rest of them and etc. But we'd need to call it something. Like, not just "the mind-control device," more like, "Lubette." Or something.

Ok, some more background data on the chryssalid:

It is highly strong, it can rip through titanium armor to get to a target, but its unique arm structure means it can't pick up anything, nothing at all.
It is faster than an olympic runner, and it has great stamina for running, yet it can't jump two feet.
It is highly vlunerable to explosives, concussion (like whacking it with a pipe), and armor piercing bullets
It is highly resistant to energy weapons, anti-personell bullets (hollow point), falling, crushing (it would take a 80ton tank to squish the damn thing) and cutting (knife) attacks.
It can climb quite well, but not up flat walls with no foot/claw holds.
Before the Chryssalid implants its egg inside its victim, it usually injects a venom that functions like an intense hallucogen, so the victim will wander around completely incoherent until the creature claws its way out of its host.
Gestation time is 12 hours. There is no way to remove the egg without killing the host.
The only way to really survive a chryssalid encounter is to either A: find a jetpack or something, or B: kill it before it gets within melee range.

has anyone seen the movie water worled?? where the hole worled is under water exept four one island and the people are tryingto find it . or the worled could be covered by radiation and the remains of bio weapons and their is a piece of land that hasent been infected and the good and bad guys are trying to get to the "clean land" :idea:

That is certainly a plausible quest, but I feel that the RP would be better if it was a space RP, where you go to other worlds, and try and prevent the baddies from doing whatever it is that they are doing...

I've seen part of Water World... but being in anti-radiation-suits would be rather... hard to role-play. And there would be no motivation for the baddies to go there, if they don't need anti-radiation suits.

Anyways, I'll just be a human dude with pointy ears. Like the elves in Lords of the Ring. But no long lifespan or deadly accuraccy. I just want pointy ears. :)

Probably Faster than light type tech so we can get in between planets in a reasonable time.

Umm... maybe somewhere around 3000. FTL isn't around, but going Earth-->Mars would take... 4 days. In which the crew can die off... one by one. At least I dont think 4 days is FTL... I think it's 4 minutes or so from Sun-->Earth.
