SETI Program

Our government has officially started it's SETI program. We will use satellites to pick up radio waves ranging with millions of frequencies for signs of extra-terrestrial communication. Our research concludes that a radio wave can reach mars within four minutes and reach the nearest star to earth, Alpha Centauri in four years. ( From Discovery Channel :)). We are constructing an array of one hundred satellites that can scan many portions of the sky over millions of frequencies and we are also constructing a telescope to spot out new planets and stars. Our nation is also building an unmanned satellite (the king that revolves arond planets) that will revolve around the planet of venus and take photographs.

Our nation hopes to contact ET and even launch it's own space program in the future.

Right now we are planning to spend $12,022,560,000 (15% of our budget) on our SETI/Space Program.

What exactly does 'SETI' mean

Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.

Good luck with that...intelligence is rare enough right down here on Earth, let alone in space.

OOC: I live in the U.S. in real life, but my country is an island east of South America

Seti is an abbreviation for search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence

SR likes this idea, can we assist in some way?

The Incorporated States of Exonerate wonders why a nation would initiate such a project.

Firstly, the chances of contacting intelligent life that has radio transmission technologies is low. Secondly, given the distance, such contact would take years, if not centuries to establish a dialogue. Furthermore, until the advent of FTL technology, transportation between the two worlds would be impractacle.

I also believe there may be more humanoid planets in space we haven't found yet.

You can assist by sending money to our SETI program as a donation. We are doing this to answer one of the greatest questions in science. Are we alone? If we were to find an advanced race out there they could help our planet and we could learn from their technology and ways of life.

SR will donate 2 billion for the moment, more may follow.

Thank you for your support. Our engineers and researchers have started the planning for our radio satellite array. We expect it to be complete by the beginning of next year.((OOC:A year in our culture is 2 days)) And our satellite will be completed 2 years following the array. ((OOC: 4 days))

Our prototype satellite array consists of 100 commercial satellites. By the time our project is complete we will have 350 satellites.

Given the money that they (don't) have.. it will just bankrupt them.. but then there's always deficit spending.

Our seti program has $14,022,560,000 invested to it this year. $2,000,000,000 coming from another nation. We will eventually cut our SETI program if little to no progress is made in our search. ((OOC: Nasa cut it's SETI program, but 3rd parties and corporations donate to it)) Even if we do it will still live on. SETI fudning will be reduced next year to %5 of our budget. The first years 15% was just to give it a jump start.
