29-12-2003, 01:18
(OOC - Since this is a show trial I will play the part of both the prosecuter and the defendent. Also this all happened in my country. - OOC)

In a coup d'etat which gave liberty to the colonial states of the Shackadilian republic, the major leaders of the motherland were captured and are being held for trial. They have been charged with 2,574 counts of murder, 23 counts of police oppression, 4 counts of treason, 5 million counts of withholding civil freedoms, 5 million counts of over taxation, 5 million counts of lack of representation, 700 counts of rape, 3 counts of cannibalism, and 4 counts of being very bad people. (OOC - don't you just love making up new laws to charge people with? - OOC) If found guilty the defendents will be sentenced to life inprisonment and forced to work for the good of the new country. Allow the trial to begin...

(Prosecuter) - After hearing all these charges, murder, rape, even canibalism, how do you feel about what you have done?

(Defendent) - On the charges of murder, we rule self defense. 2,574 of those charges (all of them) are casualties taken on the rebel side during the coup. The 700 counts of rape are entirely made up charges... nobody in the defendent's governing body commited rape. We also feel the same on the 3 counts of cannibalism. As for the counts of over taxation and...

(Prosecuter) - OBJECTION! You may only answer our questions!

(Prosecuter) - About the charges of over taxation, lack of representation, withholding civil freedoms, and police oppression. How do you feel about these horrid crimes that you have undoubtably commited?

(Defendent) - Over taxation, lack of representation, and withholding civil freedoms are all as the citizen's see it in their own eyes. To some, the taxes may have seemed to high, for others, just right. Every citizen in the colony was represented by a leader of some kind voted in by them, we the defense find that this charge is entirely unfounded. As for the civil freedoms, Shackadack is known for it's superb civil rights. You cannot charge the defendent on these grounds.
