Lagrange 4

The dwindling armed forces of Lagrange 4 came to an unceremonious end today as the last ranking officer of the Armed Perimeter Survey was dismissed, effectively shutting down the last surviving vestige of the colonial army.
Before its independence, L4 was used as a training facility for armed astronauts (so-called "space marines") and their bases remained operational even after the declaration. The soldiers who joined the revolution only got to see action for the two days that the struggle lasted. The number of kills scored remains three to this day.
Public opinion has long been that the minor automated defenses built into the colony's structurals are more than enough to counter threats to national safety (if there are any). Space marines were seen as little more than artifacts of the revolution.
Today, it was decided that their symbolic value weighed less than their effect on the recession-struck economy.
