Morganton in mourns after murder of King

26-12-2003, 14:14
Nations of the world. It is my sad duty, as prime minister, to report to the world that yesterday after leaving the Christmas morning service at St. David's cathedral his majesty King Rhys the II of the Kingdom of Morganton was shot dead by a republican terrorist group. Two bullets were shot one through his majesties leg and the other punctured his left lung. The wounds sustained were fatal. He died at 10:35 a.m in the Prince Lear hospital in New London. The royal family has expressed their profound sadness at what has happened and as a result of this terrible act of terrorism his majesties government has named Saturday the 27th of December as a day of national mourning. The nation is united in grief. I shall name the successor of his majesty in due course. I would also like to announce the funeral to be next on Monday 30th of December at St. Paul's cathedral. More information shall be posted soon. On behalf of the people of this nation I would like to thank the sympathy shown by fellow nations. I would also like to condemn the terrorist attack and hope that the nation shall remember its king. Thank you,
Prime Minister of Morganton.

The king must have been weak or unprotected. A new, stronger - brighter - ruler must step forward to seize the rins of power in your nation. Or your nation should submit to the inevitable annexation by another nationstate... :!:

I am deeply sorry for this incident. I was wonderring if you'd like to have our engineers build you a high security facility so your ruler can go there whenever he/she is in danger. They have constructed the Silverlecim Internaional Government Airport, a high security but luxurious airport, and an attatched high security hotel and conference center for national leaders. Nothing that we don't want there has gotten in yet, despite the fact that this weird guy keeps trying to break in. We put him in prison every time but he always gets out on bail and then we have to put him back in. Most inconvenient. He's tried everything. Bombs, chainsaws, even a humongous mechanical mole that tried to dig under and in. But he never actually got within 1000 yards of the building. Very odd. I'm considering having him taken to a mental hospital. Anyway, I offer my deepest condolences, and the services of my engineers.

Your kind words have lifted the hearts of the people of Morganton and one can confirm that everyone that has posted a reply is welcome to come to the funeral. As to the future king the nation is still undecided. The King's personal favouritewas the former Prime Minister Anthony Benn, but the nation has warmed to the princess regent Rhys II. His majesties' foreign office shall inform all of any changes. Thank you, Prime Minister of Morganton.

IC:

The Thakan envoy to Morganton formally offers the suggestion that Morganton either choose a successor from among their military officers of royal lineage, preferrably one with some skill in defence, or at the very least appoint a King's Guard of some form.

For shadow's sake, show some strength...
