The first meeting of the North-East Asian Regional Legislature comenced today represenitives came from all over the territories that are currently affiliated with the area.

The United Socialist States of Hutu
The United States of Upper Hutu
The Borderlands of Atkeld
The Holy Empire of Shimdah
The Republic of Isof
The Disputed Territories of Lower Hutu

The meeting was held in a small building on the border of The United Socialist States of Hutu and The Republic of Isof as both the nations are significantly involved in the Regional Legislature. The building has come to be known as the Gergstwag, and is currently nothing more than an oval room crowded with desks and a large podium in the center.

A man from the USSH takes the podium and the room goes to a hush. The man is roughly 6'1" and is flanked by two men armed with pistols. He appears to be the leader of this convention by the way he is dressed and the respect he is given.

"Gentlemen I welcome you to the 1st meeting of the Regional Legislature. I assume there is no knew business as there has never been business. So, before we get down to work, does anyone here motion to become an offical member of the Legislature? I remind you, if you are not your votes on motions are disgarded."

The man stands with his arms crossed awaiting a reply.

((OOC: I am opening spots for other nations in or out of the North East Asia region to join the legislature feel free to join, or atleast send a delegate to watch over the happenings))

As all in the room are still at a hush and no one seems to be bringing in any motions for new members, the man standing at the podium taps his thumb on the microphone a moment before continuing.

"Well, now that that has passes, lets get down to business." The man picks up a small folder he brought to the stage with him and opens it and removes the first of many pages. "So, here's our first motion from the USSH. Motion H-1, All members of the NEARL shall refrain from any UN activities. This may seem a bit archaic and backwards of us, but we find just cause in this through that, the UN can't be everywhere all the time, and how are we to protect ourselves without the great weapons to discourage attackers that the UN will not let us have."

The man picks up his folder and steps down to the side for a moment as another man holding a gavel steps up, "All in favor of Motion H-1 say I"
25-12-2003, 16:18
The represenative of Shimdah stands slowly in the front of the room, "I support this Motion as for too long have people been pushed around by the laws of the UN. My vote is I."
25-12-2003, 16:21
In the back of the room a small roundish man from Atkeld stands up patting his stomach, "Friends, do as you wish, we chose not to side in this so we are not voting."
25-12-2003, 16:23
The two men of Isof stand slowly and work their way to the front and one of them becomes the spokesman, "We of Isof, as being the other major party here lobby both our votes For this motion."
25-12-2003, 16:26
The man from Upper Hutu stands and with a nod begins to speak, "Well as most of you know my comrade from Lower Hutu could not make it because of troubles in their nation, yet I think I also speak for him when I say, Are you people mad? I am fully against this."

The man with the gavel pounds it twice on the podium, "There it is, Motion H-1 is now Resolution H-1, passed by 3 Yay's to 1 Nay and 2 Non-Voters."

The man steps down and is again replaced by the gentlemen from the USSH. "Now, while I was seated I was given this document. It has been roughly compiled by all nations here, and is supposed to serve as a "bill of rights" for all members of NEARL. I will now read them aloud to you all.

1. All nations are free to themselvs and cannot be oppressed by others in the region.
2. All citizens are free amongst all nations, segregation will not be tollerated.
3. Free trade must be upheld and never infringed upon.
4. Each nation is free to keep a standing army of any size.
5. Freedom of the Seas, Skies, and Trade will be kept holy by a multi-national team of soldiers.

That would appear to be all, and they seem reasonable. So, as chairman of this legilature, I hereby make this our offical "bill of rights"

The man looks around for moment and then goes back to speaking, "So, if that is all, I am done here. If we are now done we can go back about the business of inducting new members since our numbers are small."
