KAA-88 Anti-Aircraft Vehicle

The KAA-88's armament includes a multitude of anti-aircraft weaponry. Firstly, two belt-fed 35 millimeter anti-aircraft guns (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/gepard/images/gepard1.jpg) are fitted to the sides of a two-man electric power turret (one per side) with a barrel length of 90 calibers (3,150mm). Each gun can fire at a rate of 1,100 rounds per minute. Several types of rounds can be fired including: Frangible Armor-Piercing Discarding Sabot (FAPDS) and other standard 35mm anti-aircraft ammunition. Each barrel has 320 rounds of ready-to-fire anti-aircraft ammunition and 20 rounds of anti-ground target ammunition.

Attached to the side of each barrel are two surface-to-air Stinger missiles (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/gepard/images/gepard7s.jpg).

In addition to the Stinger missiles, one four-cell missile launcher (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/leflasys/images/leflasys17.jpg) is included on the back of the vehicle. The launcher fires the New Empirian High Manuever Variable Guidance Light Surface-to-Air Missile (HVGLSAM). The HVGLSAM has a maximum speed of Mach 2 and a max ceiling of 40,000 feet.

Four smoke dischargers are fitted underneath each 35mm barrel and the ARENA-2 defense sysytem has been installed. ARENA-2 reacts to an incoming anti-tank missile and reacts by throwing a cassette containing explosives. Upon detonation, the fragments interact with the missile, reducing its effectiveness significantly.

The KAA-88 is equipped with LIDAR (laser radar) and independent search and tracking radars. The search radar is installed at the front rear of the turret and the tracking radar is intstalled on the rear front of the turret.

A convention will be held for nation's interested in buying the vehicle. Send an e-mail to ngdd@defense.gov for further details and the confirmation of your invitation.
